신입 치과위생사의 재직의도 관련요인: 근무환경을 중심으로 (Factors related to retention intention of new dental hygienists: focusing on working environment)

  • Objectives: This study aimed to identify the level of occupational and organizational retention intention and related factors among new dental hygienists. Methods: The participants were 195 dental hygienists employed for less than 24 months. A t-test and one-way analysis of variance were conducted to determine the level of intention to stay according to an individual's major-related characteristics and work environment awareness level. Pearson's correlation analysis was performed for each item, and stepwise multiple regression was performed for factors related to retention intention. Results: In the work environment, the organizational support network had the highest occupational retention intention (β=0.513). Organizational retention intention (β=0.351), working infrastructure (β=0.293), cooperation relationship (β=0.165), and management justice (β=0.151) were factors related to organizational retention intention (p<0.001). Employment at the practice hospital was related to occupational (β=0.167) and organizational retention intention (β=0.138), and satisfaction with clinical practice was related to occupational retention intention (β=0.327). Conclusions: New dental hygienists are expected to be actively utilized for long-term tenure in both occupations and organizations by actively reflecting on the results obtained through this study in the curriculum and working environment of dental hygienists.

산후체증정체(Postpartum Weight Retention)관련 국외 연구논문 분석 (An Analysis of Research on Postpartum Weight Retention)

  • Purpose: To explain the concept of postpartum weight retention and to analyze factor effect on it. Method: A total of 20 studies related postpartum weight retention were selected in the year of 1988-2001 and analysis was done. Result: A demographic factor like parity, age, social and economic level and life style such as exercise, diet, breast feeding are influential factor on postpartum retention weight. But parts of them don't agree the same results. Meanwhile, in some studies, psychological factor like women's self esteem related to postpartum retention weight, body image change, depressing is found to be very related. As a result, postpartum overweight gain could be a bad factor of physical and mental health. In Korea, we have few studies related to them. Conclusion: It is required to do many-sided and deep studies about aspects of postpartum retention weight and the factor that effect on it. Postpartum retention weight should be approached by controling weight from the period of pregnancy. And it would rather be researched through individual approach considered women's various demographic, social-cultural and physical level than be required standardized level of weight gain.

Sentence Translation and Vocabulary Retention in an EFL Reading Class

  • The present study investigated the effect of sentence translation as a production task on short-term and long-term retention of foreign vocabulary. 87 EFL university students at a beginning level, enrolled in reading class participated in the study. The study compared the performance of three groups on vocabulary recall: (1) Control group, (2) Translation group, and (3) Copy group. During the treatment sessions, translation group translated L1 sentences into English, while copy group simply copied given English sentences with each target word. Results of the immediate test were collected each week from week 2 to week 5 and analyzed by one-way ANOVA. Results revealed that regarding short-term vocabulary retention, participants in rote-copy condition outperformed those in translation group. Four weeks later a delayed test was administered to measure long-term vocabulary retention. In contrast, the results of two-way repeated measures ANOVA showed that long-term vocabulary retention of translation group was significantly greater than copy group. The findings suggest that although sentence translation is rather challenging to low-level learners, it may facilitate long-term retention of new vocabulary given the more elaborate and deeper processing the task entails.

한국 성인 여자의 칼슘과 인 평형에 관한 연구 (A Study on Ca and P Balance in Koran Adult Women)

  • The Ca and P balance studies were carried out with two different diets varying Ca levels : the current Korean RDA level(normal Ca diet) and the high level (High Ca diet) which was determined by adding 2SD to mean Ca intake of all subjects. The subjects were sever healthy adult woman, aged from 25 to 32 years old. The metabolic studies were conducted for two weeks with a days recess in between : during the fist week with normal Ca diet and during the second week with high Ca diet. The composition of nutrients excepting Ca of both diets was similar to subjects usual intake. The result were summarized as follows: Mean daily Ca intake was 728.8mg from norma Ca diet and 945.5mg from high Ca diet. Fecal excretion of Ca increased significantly(p<0.05) on high Ca diet, but urinary excretion of Ca did not show any differences between the two diet periods. There were also no significant differences in Ca retention between the two diet periods but it tended to be greater during high Ca diet period: 112.1mg/day during normal Ca diet period vs 208.2mg/day during high Ca diet period. Mean apparent Ca absorption was 41.2% on normal Ca diet and 42.1% on high Ca diet, indicating it was not affected by high Ca intake level used in this study. On the contrary, P retention was significantly increased up to 109.4mg/day with high Ca diet as compared to- 41mg/day with normal Ca diet. There were no significant differences in fecal and urinary excretion of P but those to be lower during high Ca diet period. The above results showed that higher Ca intake more than current RDA(700mg/day), in the level of 945.5mg/day, could increase Ca retention through Ca absorption comparable to the rate appeared on RDA level intake. P retention was also improved by high Ca intake. Therefore, higher Ca intake than the current RDA level seemed to produce favorable effects on bone health in adult women. However, the current RDA level seemed to be relatively appropriate, considering the results that all the subjects but one maintained positive Ca balance with normal Ca diet. 양이온성으로 표면 개질된 nanocoated GCC의 보류 성능 (Retention Performance of Nanocoated GCC with Positive Charge)

  • In this study, we investigated retention characteristics of nanocoated GCC that was positively modified by Layer-by-Layer (LbL) multilayering process. Three layers were formed onto GCC particles with poly-DADMAC/PSS/poly-DADMAC (PD3) and C-starch/A-PAM/C-starch (CS3) systems, respectively. Untreated GCC, PD3 GCC (strongly positive charge) and CS3 GCC (weekly positive charge) were retained on pulp fibers under single retention system or microparticle retention system conditions. In single retention system, PD3 particles were not affected by cationic retention aid due to their strong positive charge, whereas CS3 particles reacted with cationic retention aid due to anionic sites on the surface of the weekly positive particles. In a microparticle retention system, positively modified GCC (PD3 and CS3) showed higher retention level than untreated GCC at the same dosage of retention aid. The cationic surface of GCC particles were more reacted with bentonite so the deposition onto pulp fibers was improved. In addition, the retention level of nanocoated GCC was increased with maintaining good formation.

교대근무간호사의 욕구만족, 소명의식, 직무스트레스가 재직의도에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Shift-Working Nurses' Need Satisfaction, Calling and Vocation, and Job Stress on Retention Intention)

  • Purpose: This descriptive study aimed to identify shift nurses' retention intention, need satisfaction, calling and vocation, and job stress, as well as the effects of these factors on retention intention. Methods: The participants of this study were 193 nurses working shifts with more than three months' clinical experience at general hospitals. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire from February 1 to 28, 2023. Nurses' Retention Index and Nurse Needs Satisfaction Scale, Korean version of the Calling and Vocational Questionnaire, Korean Occupational Stress Scale were used. Data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 23.0 program. Independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation analysis, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis were conducted for statistical analysis. Results: Regarding nurses' shift work, the mean scores for retention intention, needs satisfaction, calling and vocation, and job stress were 32.12±9.04, 94.87±14.74, 26.95±6.84, and 66.12±10.34. Moreover, the nurses' retention intention differed significantly by age, education level, religion, marital status, clinical experience, satisfaction with wage, and job satisfaction. Furthermore, retention intention was positively correlated with needs satisfaction and calling and vocation and negatively correlated with job stress. Needs satisfaction, and calling and vocation as well as education level of bachelor's degree, job satisfaction had positive effects on shift work nurses' retention intention. Job dissatisfaction had relatively negative effects on retention intention compared to having neutral job satisfaction. Conclusion: It is necessary to develop programs that promote needs satisfaction, calling and vocation, and job satisfaction to improve nurses' retention intention in relation to shift work; moreover, institutional support for acquiring a bachelor's degree or higher is needed.

한국인의 일상식이를 섭취하는 여대생들의 칼슘 대사에 관한 연구 (A Study on Ca Metabolism of College Women eating Usual Korean Diet)

  • This study was designed to investigate the effects of calcium supplementation on calcium metabolism in seven healthy college women, aged from 19 to 21 years old. For this purpose, metabolic studies were conducted for two weeks. During the first week, the subjects ate experimental diet which nutrients composition was similar to their usual intake. And during the consecutive second week, they ate the same experimental diet supplemented with 500mg of calcium daily. The results were summarized as follows ; 1) Fecal excretion of calcium increased significantly (P<0.05), but urinary excretion of that did not show any change after supplementary intake of calcium. 2) Mean apparent calcium absorption was 28.5% and retention was 182mg/day when subjects ate the experimental diet without calcium supplementation. Calcium retention was significantly ate the experimental diet without calcium supplementation. Calcium retention was decreased to 24.1% by additional intake of calcium. 3) Phosphorus balance did not show any change after additional intake of calcium. 4) Serum calcium level was also not changed by additional intake of calcium. 5) Serum calcium level increased significantly(P<0.05) but serum phosphorus level did not show any change after additional intake of calcium. The above results showed that supplementation of 500mg calcium daily can be helpful to increase calcium retention as well as the peak bone mass in young women eating usual Korean diets.

콤포질 시스템의 보류 및 탈수특성과 양성 옥수수전분을 이용한 성능 개선 (Retention and Drainage Characteristics of Compozil System and Impact of Cationic Corn Starch for its Improvement)

  • Effect of cationic starches and anionic colloidal silica on retention and drainage characteristics of Compozil system was investigated. Depending upon the degree of substitution and molecular weight of cationic starches and morphological characteristics of anionic colloidal silica, retention and drainage properties of Compozil system were significantly influenced. When cationic starch addition level increased above a certain limit retention and stock freeness were decreased. To elucidate this an electrostatic coagulation mechanism occurring between unadsorbed starch molecules and anionic colloidal silica was proposed. Unstructured colloidal silica showed greater improvement in retention than structured colloidal silica. Cationic corn starches with different degree of substitution and molecular weights were prepared and their effect as a constituent of Compozil system was also evaluated. By controlling the molecular weight and degree of substitution of cationic corn starch it was possible to achieve significant improvement in fines retention. Cationic corn starch with higher degree of substitution maintained its retention efficiency even when the stock conductivity was increased. Turbidity measurement technique was found to be a simple and useful method to measure the retention characteristics.

신문용지용(用) 지료(紙料)의 조성조건(調成條件)에 의한 보류(保留)의 변화(變化) (Influences of Wire Retention on the Newsprint Process Affected by Stock Preparation Conditions)

  • 신문 용지용(用) 지료(紙料)의 조성조건(調成條件)에 따른 보류(保留)의 변화를 연구(硏究)한 결과 다음과 같은 사실을 알수가 있었다. 1. 온도(溫度)의 상승(上昇)에 따라 보류(保留)는 지료(紙料)의 종류 및 배합비(配合比)에 관계없이 감소(減少)하였으며 GP보다 DIP가 온도(溫度)변화에 민감(敏感)하였다. 2. pH변화에 따른 보류(保留)의 변화는 GP와 DIP 및 GP/DIP=50/50 모두 pH5에서 보류(保留)가 가장 높았으며 pH 5보다 높거나 낮으면 감소(減少)하였고 DIP가 GP보다 감소(減少)가 적었다. 3. Alum첨가(添加)에 따른 보류(保留)의 변화는 GP와 GP/DIP=50/50의 경우 2% 첨가(添加)에서 보류(保留)가 가장 높았고 DIP는 3% 첨가(添加)에서 가장 높았다. 4. 보류(保留)는 지료(紙料)의 응집작용(凝集作用)과 밀접한 관련이 있었다.

요양병원간호사의 역할갈등, 직무만족 및 전문직 자부심이 재직의도에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Role conflict, Job Satisfaction and Professional Pride on Retention Intention of Nurses Working at Long-term Care Hospital)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore factors affecting the retention intention of nurses working at long-term care hospitals. Methods: Data were collected from 147 nurses working in 10 long-term care hospitals using self-report questionnaires of role conflict, job satisfaction, professional pride and retention intention T-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation and multiple regression were used to analyze the data. Results: The mean age of subjects was $47.4{\pm}10.1$ (22~65). Average length of clinical experiences was $170.12{\pm}98.99$ months. The level of retention intention was significantly different by the educational level (t=4.21, p=.017). Retention Intention was significantly associated with professional job satisfaction (r=.36, p<.001) and professional pride (r=.69, p<.001), but were not significantly correlated with role conflict (r=-.07, p=.376). The multiple regression analysis shows that significant factors, affecting the retention intention were professional pride (t=9.87, p<.001) and job satisfaction (t=3.37, p=.001), which explained 46.1% of the retention intention collectively. Conclusion: It is crucial to make substantial efforts to increase professional pride and job satisfaction in order to increase nurses' retention intention.
