  • The goal of this research is to investigate the present situation for front of pack labeling in Korea and the perception of consumers for the new system of labeling, front of pack labeling, based on the consumer survey. We investigated the number of processed foods with front of pack labeling in one retailer in Youngin-si. And we also surveyed 1,019 participants nationwide whose ages were from 20 to 49; the knowledge of nutrition labeling, the knowledge of 'front of pack labeling', and the opinion about the labeling system. The data were analyzed using SAS statistics program. The results were as follows: 13.4% of processed foods had front of pack labeling, and 16.8% of the consumers always checked the nutrition labeling, while 32.7% of the consumers seldom checked it. In addition, 44.3% of the consumers think that 'front of pack labeling' is necessary, and 58.3% of the consumers think it is important to show the percentage of daily value as a way of 'front of pack labeling'. However, 32% of the consumer think the possibility of 'front of pack labeling' is slim. Meanwhile, 58.3% of the consumers think that it is important to have the color difference according to contents. The number of favorite nutrients in the front of pack was four or five. It seems that the recognition of current nutrition labeling has the influence on the willingness of using the future 'front of pack labeling'. Along with our study, the policy for 'front of pack labeling' has to be updated and improved constantly since 'front of pack labeling' helps consumer understand nutrition facts.

  • This study examines the effectiveness of CSR through the expectancy disconfirmation theory. The change of CSR belief after a corporate social irresponsibility (CSIR) crisis was investigated in terms of activity timing (proactive activities before CSIR crisis/reactive activities after CSIR crisis). Study 1 explores the influence of CSR belief perceptions formed through usual CSR activities on CSR belief decline after a CSIR crisis and the moderating effect of CSR activity types. Higher CSR belief perceptions are formed through usual CSR activities that result in a large CSR belief decline. The moderating effect of CSR activity types on CSR belief decline is found. Volunteer activity has the strongest depending effect on CSIR crisis. Study 2 explores the influence of CSR belief perceptions formed through CSIR crisis on a CSR belief incline after CSR activities and the moderating effect of CSR activity types. The lower CSR belief perception after CSIR crisis results in a high CSR belief incline after CSR activities. The moderating effect of CSR activity types on CSR belief incline is found. Cause-related marketing has the strongest overcoming effect on a CSIR crisis.

  • Keyword advertising has been used as a promotion tool rather than the advertising itself to online retailers. This is because the online retailer expects the direct sales increase when they deploy the keyword sponsorship. In practice, many online sellers rely on keyword advertising to promote their sales in short term with limited budget. Most of the previous researches use direct revenue factors as dependent variables such as CTR (click through rate) and CVI (conversion per impression) in their researches on the keyword advertising[14, 16, 22, 25, 31, 32]. Previous studies were, however, conducted in the context of aggregate-level due to the limitations on the data availability. These researches cannot evaluate the performance of keyword advertising in the individual level. To overcome these limitations, our research focuses on conversion of keyword advertising in individual-level. Also, we consider manageable factors as independent variables in terms of online retailers (the costs of keyword by implementation methods and meanings of keyword). In our study we developed the keyword advertising conversion model in the individual-level. With our model, we can make some theoretical findings and managerial implications. Practically, in the case of a fixed cost plan, an increase of the number of clicks is revealed as an effective way. However, higher average CPC is not significantly effective in increasing probability of purchase conversion. When this type (fixed cost plan) of implementation could not generate a lot of clicks, it cannot significantly increase the probability of purchase choice. Theoretically, we consider the promotional attributes which influence consumer purchase behavior and conduct individuals-level research based on the actual data. Limitations and future direction of the study are discussed.

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to analyze the user requirements and developer requirements in virtual reality(VR), and suggest ways to increase the satisfaction of users who experience virtual reality. Specifically, focused on experience store of VR as a distribution retailer, user requirements were analyzed according to the results of previous research that the characteristics of Affordance, Presence, and Head Mounted Display (HMD) affect user satisfaction. Research, design, data, and methodology - Based on previous studies, in this study, we analyzed the importance of immerse, interaction, perception, and presence for the satisfaction of the user through the questionnaire, and the user experiences virtual reality (VR) The importance of HMD, Presence, Affordance, and experience satisfaction were analyzed. Based on this, we analyzed the user requirements and the developer requirements based on the questionnaires and interviews of the experts, starting from the user's desire or preference using QFD technique. Results - As a result of the analysis, the development factors that occupied a big part in the virtual reality field appeared to be visual. In detail, this showed that there was a lack of sense of presence for users. This should be improved. This paper shows that the requirements for visual, auditory, and tactile development are necessary. For the satisfaction of the users of virtual reality (VR) users, it is necessary to develop them according to their priority in consideration of importance and difficulty in the future. Conclusions - In this study, it was suggested that development according to priority should be considered, considering the difficulty level. Based on the results of this study, the following suggestions are made. First, we tried to search the list of user requirements as much as possible, but it is likely to change due to the development of VR technology. Therefore, it is necessary for developers to continually supplement user requirements with recent research literature. Second, development priorities according to difficulty level should be considered. This aspect should be considered in the actual VR development process, so if the numerical value of the difficulty is calculated, it should be presented in the research.

  • Purpose - Consumers heuristically have a specific stereotype on the price level of individual retail format because each format provides them with a different level of purchase satisfaction and emotional benefits. However, if price image which is consumers' overall impression of the aggregate price level of a retailer does not match with their expectations, its price level would be perceived as unfair. It will eventually lead to dissatisfaction and decreased revisit intention. Focused on department store and discount store, this study was designed to verify whether the price fairness plays a role of mediating effect on two influential relationships between price image and post-purchase satisfaction, and price image and repatronage intention. Research design, data, and methodology - A main survey was conducted to 140 students and 128 effective responses were used for the related analysis. T-test, factor analysis, reliability test, and mediated regression analysis were performed. Six hypotheses were developed to examine the mediating effect of price fairness on the two influential relationships between price image and post-purchase satisfaction, and price image and repatronage intention. It was also examined whether the price image of two different retail format is formed differently or not. Results - People perceived the price images of the two retail formats differently. Overall price level of department store is much higher than that of discount store. Analysis results showed that price image did not solely have a significant influence on post-purchase satisfaction unless price fairness as a mediating variable is added. Price fairness turned out to be having a significant influence on relationship between price image and repatronage intention. It influences on repatronage intention directly and also via price fairness. Conclusions - Post-purchase satisfaction can be achieved only if people perceive the price image as fair no matter how the price level is high or low according to traits of retail formats. If they think it's not fair, they would disapprove of the rightness for the price image, and also express their dissatisfaction with it. Consumers willingly make repeated visits to a store if they are convinced of appropriate price level which is perceived as fair, and if they experienced a satisfaction with overall benefits a particular store offered.

  • Purpose: While empirical importance of dimensionality of perceived value is widely accepted, our understanding of experiential value dimensions in other retail channels and other cultures has not been explicitly tested. This study attempted to determine if the dimensions of experiential value scale (EVS) by Mathwick, Malhotra, and Rigdon (2001) identified in US catalog and Internet contexts could be applied in other international markets (South Korea) and in other retail channels (department store versus Internet shopping mall). Methodology/Approach: Two data sets, one from 220 department store shoppers and the other from 359 Internet shopping mall shoppers, were analyzed. Findings: Confirmatory factor analysis confirmed four different EVS dimensions by retail channels. Overall, entertainment and intrinsic enjoyment values were found to be more important in department store while economic and efficiency value dimensions were interpreted critical in Internet shopping mall context. Visual appeal aspect constitutes distinct value dimension in two channels. Practical Implications: One separate dimension of time efficiency in Internet shopping mall suggests that more efficient web design and functions that can save time and promote convenience are needed to better accommodate their customers. Internet has heavily relied on traditional attributes, such as factual information, price comparability, and brand name reliance. However, this study suggests that Internet shopping mall retailer should offer visual diversion and stimulation just as brick and mortar shopping malls do. Originality /Value of Paper: Although the research findings must be viewed as tentative because the results are from one country, they provide a rich basis for further understanding the dimensions of experiential value in other international markets and other retail channels. • With the corporate environment nowadays being surrounded by plenty of information, the sharing of information among businesses through mutual cooperation tops the list of hot issues. Predictions of demands from the customer, business, or consumer by sharing information can affect the inventory and order production system. However, notwithstanding the importance of sharing information, empirical studies on quantitative use of information still remain insufficient in spite of many a discussion now being made on the sharing of information. This paper proposes to examine the ways meteorological information may affect the rises in the achievements of supply chains in distributive businesses, the kind of information that noticeably affects the consumer behavioral patterns in the distributive businesses but rarely perceived as a form of information shared by businesses. This study is based on a model in which meteorological information has been added as the one used to predict demands, after the beer distribution game has been modified to fit the current status, and simulations under an assumptive situation, where decisions are made on a daily basis, were conducted 50 times for a period of 1000 days for the generalization of the results, while at the same time a Duncan Test was conducted to determine the threshold to use the meteorological information that will be most profitable to the retailer, wholesaler, supplier and the supply chain as a whole. Our findings indicate that corporations have thresholds that vary from business to business depending upon the ratio of backlog costs to inventory costs. At the same time, our findings also show that there existed effective thresholds depending upon the ratio of backlog costs to inventory costs for the performance of the overall supply chain.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the differences between clothing size satisfaction and clothing sizing systems of Korean and foreign SPA (specialty retailer of private label apparel) brands according to height group, and provide foundation material that can be used to establish product strategy from the perspective of Korean SPA brand clothing sizes in order to secure competitiveness in the international market. Satisfaction of tall women in their twenties with the clothing sizes of SPA brands was researched, and t-test was conducted to examine differences between clothing size satisfaction of Korean and foreign SPA brands between the two height groups. Then, differences in the size minimum and maximum values, size ranges, size intervals and size numbers between clothing sizing systems of Korean and foreign SPA brands were researched and comparatively analyzed. Existing clothing sizes need to make improvements considering the lengths and shoulder width of tall consumers. And Korean SPA brands need to diversify the range and number of sizes in the clothing sizing system, and set a separate tall-size group, or apply the relationship between vertical and horizontal sizes of clothing to establish a clothing sizing system. A product strategy that applies the results of this study will solve the clothing size dissatisfaction of tall female consumers and stimulate sales of Korean SPA brand clothing products. The study has value in that it extracted realistic problems by researching clothing sizing systems of products that are actually sold.
