The objective of this research study is to develop the permutation-based genetic algorithm for solving the resource-constrained project scheduling problem in construction engineering by incorporating elitism into genetic algorithm. A key aspect of the algorithm was the development of the elitist roulette selection operator to preserve the best individual solution for the next generation so the improved solution can be obtained. Another notable characteristic is the application of the parallel schedule generation scheme to generate a feasible solution to the problem. Case studies with a standard test problem were presented to demonstrate the performance and accuracy of the algorithm. The computational results indicate that the proposed algorithm produces reasonably good solutions for the resource-constrained project scheduling problem.

Allocation and management of the resource is very important in wireless networks because the wireless resource is limited. Therefore, the importance of designing cross layer, which adapt between different layers, is on the rise. In this paper, we investigate the scheduling techniques of the cross layer. This paper researches conventional scheduling methods and proposes the complementary scheduling method. On multimedia environment, the scheduling method must be applied variably because of offering variable services. Therefore, this paper proposes the new scheduling method according to the variable services. The proposed method shows that utility efficiency of the wireless resource more excellent than the conventional method through the simulations.

Batch production is common in repetitive construction projects, and it is not unusual for different batch sizes to be used by contractors in one project. While several scheduling methods, such as the Linear Scheduling Method (LSM) and the Repetitive Scheduling Method (RSM) have been proposed and used, no mathematical method for repetitive construction projects has been developed, and it is difficult to consider different batch sizes with the existing methods. An original mathematical algorithm for scheduling repetitive projects with different batch sizes is proposed in this study. This algorithm is illustrated with assumptions of resource continuity and single path in a project and introduces new terms, control batch and critical batch. The algorithm logics and mathematical equations are validated by comparison with the outcomes from a graphical scheduling approach through a simple and practical hypothetic project. As a result, it is expected that the proposed algorithm can be easily adapted and extended to computer software for scheduling, and can be a starting point for research on batch size management in repetitive construction projects.

This paper deals with the scheduling ploblems, which are the most important subtasks in High-level syntheses. IP(integer programming) formulations is used as the scheduling problem approach. This paper describes a new resource-constraints scheduling algorithm. We have concentrated our attentions on the multicycle operations and the structural pipelining, and we fully analyze the characteristics of operators to achieve the maximal performance and the maximal resource sharing. For experiment results, we choose the 5-th order digital wave filter as a benchmark and do the schedule, Finally, we can obtain near-optimal scheduling results.
Grid computing is a new technology which involves efforts to create a huge source of processing power by connecting computational resources throughout the world. The key issue of such environments is their resource allocation and the appropriate job scheduling strategy. Several approaches to scheduling in these environments have been proposed to date. Market driven scheduling as a decentralized solution for such complicated environments has introduced new challenges. In this paper the bidding problem with regard to resources in the reverse auction resource allocation model has been investigated and the new bidding strategies have been proposed and investigated.
Supporting quality of service (QoS) guarantees for diverse multimedia services are the primary concerns for WiMAX (IEEE 802.16) networks. A scheduling scheme that satisfies QoS requirements has become more important for wireless communications. We propose a downlink scheduling scheme called adaptive priority-based downlink scheduling (APDS) for providing QoS guarantees in IEEE 802.16 networks. APDS comprises two major components: Priority assignment and resource allocation. Different service-type connections primarily depend on their QoS requirements to adjust priority assignments and dispatch bandwidth resources dynamically. We consider both starvation avoidance and resource management. Simulation results show that our APDS methodology outperforms the representative scheduling approaches in QoS satisfaction and maintains fairness in starvation prevention.

This paper deals with grid job allocation and grid resource scheduling to provide a stable and quicker job processing service to grid users. In this paper, we proposed a fuzzy logic-based grid job scheduling model for an effective job scheduling in computational grid environment. The fuzzy logic-based grid job scheduling model measures resource efficiency of all grid resources by a fuzzy logic system based on diverse input parameters like CPU speed and network latency and divides resources into several groups by resource efficiency. And, the model allocates jobs to resources of a group with the highest resource efficiency. For performance evaluation, we implemented the fuzzy logic-based grid job scheduling model on the DEVS modeling and simulation environment and measured reduction rates of turnaround time, job loss, and communication messages in comparison with existing job scheduling models such as the random scheduling model and the MCT(Minimum Completion time) model. Experiment results that the proposed model is useful to improve the QoS of the grid job processing service.
This paper analyzes a blocking that is due to shared resource in multiprocessor system. A proposed analysis for shared resource suggests a scalable and amendable scheduling method about task allocation. An equation of shared resource blocking is proposed by a throughput at common bus and a ratio of throughput during time period, it is included a parameter of tasks scheduling. Using this equation, a new guideline for task allocation of multiprocessor is presented. Finally, in proposed system a model simulations for the proposed blocking model is given by a deterministic ratio of shared resource.

In this paper a heuristic procedure for a resource constrained project scheduling problem with multiple crashable modes is presented. A similar heuristic procedure by Ahn and Erengue was recently introduced, but the procedure assumes the resource capacities constant over the project life. The Procedure of this paper is able to deal with the resource capacities varying over the project life. The computational results with a set of 110 test problems demonstrate the efficacy of the heuristic procedure.

In this paper, a new scheduling method considering bit-level delays for high-level synthesis is proposed. Conventional bit-level delay calculation for high-level synthesis was usually limited for specific resources. However, we have developed an efficient bit-level delay calculation method which is applicable to various resources, in this research. This method is applied to scheduling. The scheduling algorithm is based on list scheduling and executes chaining considering bit-level delays. Furthermore, multi-cycle chaining can be allowed to improve performance under resource constraints. Experimental results on several well-known DSP examples show that our method improves the performance of the results by 14.7% on the average.
