The neutron cross sections of $^{160}$ Dy, $^{161}$ Dy, $^{162}$ Dy, $^{l63}$Dy, and $^{164}$ Dy have been evaluated in the resonance region of which upper energy is set to several tens of keV. The cross sections are formulated with resonance parameters in the energy region under consideration. In the resolved resonance region, the positive-energy resonance parameters were adopted from the BNL compilation published in 1984 with slight, if any, modifications. A bound level resonance for each isotope except $^{162}$ Dy was invoked to reproduce the reference 2200 m/s cross sections and the bound coherent scattering length. Subsequently, the statistical behavior of the resolved resonance parameters was analyzed, and thus obtained s-wave average parameters were adopted in the unresolved resonance region. In addition, recent measurements of the capture cross sections in the unresolved region were taken into account in adjusting the average resonance parameters for high orbital angular momentum resonances. The present evaluation resulted in large improvements in the cross sections over the ENDF/B-Vl release 6.6.
Energy calibration is important to identify accurate neutron capture resonance energy in the neutron TOF (Time-of-Flight) experiment. In present study, the accurate neutron capture resonance energies of natural Sm were measured by using a 46-MeV electron linear accelerator (linac) at the Research Reactor Institute, Kyoto University(KURRI). The BGO spectrometer were adopted for measurement the prompt capture gamma-ray of the sample. To obtain energy calibration curve, resonance energy of a gold sample used as standard resonance energy Mughabghab's data (From neutron resonance parameters data). Previous data (by Mughabghab) of natural Sm sample have been compared with the present result.

Transport lattice codes require the resonance integral tables for the resonant nuclides where the resonance integral is a function of the background cross section and can be prepared through a special program solving the slowing down equation. In case the cross section libraries do not include the resonance integral table for the resonant nuclides, the computational prediction produces a large error. We devised a new method using a Monte Carlo calculation for the effective resonance cross sections to solve this problem provisionally. We extended this method to obtain the resonance integral table for general purpose. The MCNP code is used for the effective resonance integrals and the LIBERTE code for the effective background cross sections. We modified the HELIOS library with the effective cross sections and the resonance integral tables obtained by the newly developed Monte Carlo method, and performed sample calculations using HELIOS and LIBERTE. The results showed that this method is very effective for the resonance treatment.
It is found that with increasing power, the measured electron energy distribution by Langmuir probe evolves into a Druyvesteyn-like electron energy distribution in the low-pressure regime of 1mTorr in a small inductively coupled plasma. Electron bounce resonance is introduced to explain the transition of the electron energy distribution against the rf power, The energy diffusion coefficients which determine the shape of the electron energy distribution in elastic range are calculated with and without electron bounce resonance. This electron energy distribution transition is well explained by the electron bounce resonance.
A Transcutaneous Energy Transmission System (TET) has been developed for the wireless energy transmission with two magnetically coupled coils. A resonance circuit is used to raise the induced voltage and current of the secondary coil. Its resonance frequency depends on the internal resistance of circuit and the transferred energy. Because the transferred energy usually changes in wide range, the output voltage is unstable and the energy transferring efficiency decrease. A push-pull class E amplifier is usedto generate high frequency AC voltage. To maintain proper resonance frequency, the voltage output of the amplifier was continuously monitored and adjusted to the optimized resonance frequency. Because of its high frequency (370 kHz), a phase lockedloop circuit and a comparator are used to monitor the output waveform. The results of experimentaldata show that the PLL circuit can increase the transmission efficiency and stabilize the output voltage of TET.
Recent advances in low-power sensors and transmitters are driving the search for standalone power sources that utilize unused ambient energy. These energy harvesters can alleviate the issues related to the installation and maintenance of sensors. Particularly piezoelectric energy harvesters, with the ability to convert ambient mechanical energy into useful electricity, have received significant attention due to their high energy density, low cost and operational stability over wide temperature and pressure conditions. In order to maximize the generated electrical power, the natural frequency of the piezoelectric energy harvester should be matched with the dominant frequency of ambient vibrations. However, piezoelectric energy harvesters typically exhibit a narrow bandwidth, thus, it becomes difficult to operate near resonance under broadband ambient vibration conditions. Therefore, the resonating of energy harvesters is critical to generate maximum output power under ambient vibration conditions. For this, energy harvesters should have broadband natural frequency or actively tunable natural frequency with ambient vibrations. Here, we review the most plausible broadband energy harvesting techniques of the multi-resonance, nonlinearity, and self-resonance tuning. The operation mechanisms and recent representative studies of each technique are introduced and the advantages and disadvantages of each method are discussed. In addition, we look into the future research direction for the broadband energy harvester.
This study investigated the problems in current practice of drive-train resonance analysis procedure and suggested solutions. The first problem is the resonance occurrence at the un-identified resonance point by the current practice, as for a solution the force spectrum analysis for each critical force transmitting component was suggested. The second one is the inaccurate estimation of potential resonance point in eigenfrequency analysis because of the non-consideration about the eigenfrequency dependency on rotor-speed, the fine linearization at each rotor speed point all over operational range was proposed to account for the affection. Lastly the insufficient time for resonance activation under run-up simulation condition was recognized as a problem in resonance load increasing analysis, as an alternative, steady state condition was suggested to estimate the maximum load increasing level.

In this research, the linear electrical generator in wave energy farm utilizing resonance power buoy system is studied. The mechanical resonance characteristics of the buoy and the wave are analyzed to maximize the kinetic energy in a relatively small wave energy area where WRPS is operated. In this research, we chose an analog model of the linear electrical generator of which size is one-hundredth of an actual size of it in WPRS (Wave energy farm utilizing Resonance Power buoy System) prior to verifying the characteristics of actual model of linear electrical generator in WRPS. In addition, the finite element analysis is conducted using commercial electromagnetic analysis software named MAXWELL to examine the electric characteristic of linear generator. Finally, for the verification of dynamic and electric characteristics of linear generator, the prototype was manufactured and the experiments to measure the displacement and the output electric power were performed.
Parametric resonance of shear deformable composite skew plates subjected to non-uniform (parabolic) and linearly varying periodic edge loading is studied for different boundary conditions. The skew plate structural model is based on higher order shear deformation theory (HSDT), which accurately predicts the numerical results for thick skew plate. The total energy functional is derived for the skew plates from total potential energy and kinetic energy of the plate. The strain energy which is the part of total potential energy contains membrane energy, bending energy, additional bending energy due to additional change in curvature and shear energy due to shear deformation, respectively. The total energy functional is solved using Rayleigh-Ritz method in conjunction with boundary characteristics orthonormal polynomials (BCOPs) functions. The orthonormal polynomials are generated for unit square domain using Gram-Schmidt orthogonalization process. Bolotin method is followed to obtain the boundaries of parametric resonance region with higher order approximation. These boundaries are traced by the periodic solution of Mathieu-Hill equations with period T and 2T. Effect of various parameters like skew angle, span-to-thickness ratio, aspect ratio, boundary conditions, static load factor on parametric resonance of skew plate have been investigated. The investigation also includes influence of different types of linearly varying loading and parabolically varying bi-axial loading.
