To maintain serviceability of concrete structure more than proper it is necessary not only predict service life through periodical monitor but also need monitoring system to recognize optimal time and method for repair. Recently, CPGFRP, replacing some GFRP with CF, is developed and used for monitoring concrete fraction. But dramatic resistance change of CPGFRP is showed below 0.5% strain and it is not small strain in terms of monitoring micro crack in concrete. In other word, monitoring with CF is not suitable in low stress but hight stress. In this study, we accessed applicable possibility and reliability of CPGFRP composite as monitoring sense that is proved very sensitive to stress through domestic and oversea previous study. CPGFRP composite plays a role in specimen like steel and increases flexural strength. CPGFRP composite shows resistance increasement in micro crack. In particular, CPGFRP is more sensitive than strangage in low stress. Resistance change ratio curve is very similar to strain curve so sensitivity and reliability is very excellent to monitor concrete fracture.
Tests are conducted according to the ISO TS 16774, Part 3 standard for quality management of leakage repair materials used in cracks in underground concrete structures. These test methods are performed indirectly using a nonwoven fabric on a chalet containing leak repair materials. However, it is considered that it is appropriate to verify the resistance of the repair material, which is required to be applied directly to the cracks in the actual field and to exhibit the resistance of the flow velocity. In this study, mass change was measured by using nonwoven fabric and nonwoven fabric. As a result, both methods showed an increase in mass, which indicated that the maintenance material itself contained a large amount of water, and that the mass change occurred depending on the drying state. Also, depending on the use of nonwoven fabric, the error due to the indirect test could not be ruled out. Therefore, further verification is needed, and it is considered that the test for change of mass reduction measurement is necessary according to the drying time of other types of the same series.
Model tests for the ultimate pullout resistance of anchorages and investigation of failure behaviors in cohesionless soil have been conducted. The factors affecting the anchorage are mostly the geometry of the system, and soil properties of sands. The main conclusions of the experimental work were as follows. 1. The load - displacement relationship can be a form of parabolic curve for all plates. 2. The change in ultimate pullout resistance of anchor is mostly affected by embedment ratio and size of anchor, and influenced to a lesser degree by its shape. 3. Critical embedment ratio which is defined as the failure mode changes from shallow to deep mode is increased with increasing height of anchor. 4. For a constant anchor height, as the width of anchor increases the ultimate pullout resistance also increases. However, considering the efficiency of anchor for unit area, width of anchor does not appear to have any sigrnificant contribution on increasing anchor city. 5. Anchor capacity has a linear relation to sand density for any given section and the rate of change increases as the section increases. Critical depth determining the failure patterns of anchor is decreased with a decrease of sand density. 6. With increasing inclination angle, size of anchor, and decreasing embedment ratio, the ultimate pullout resistance of anchor under inclined loading is significantly decreased. 7. The ultimate pullout resistance of double anchor, a method of improving single of anchor capacity, is influenced by the center - to - center spacing adjacent anchors. It is also found that tandem and parallel anchor rigging arrangements decrease the anchor system capacity to less than twice the single anchor capacity due to anchor interference.
Temperature correction trans-membrane pressure (TC-TMP) is frequently used as a fouling index in membrane water treatment plants. TC-TMP equation is derived based on an assumption that the total membrane resistance (i.e. the sum of the intrinsic membrane resistance and fouling resistance) is not affected by temperature. This work verified the validity of this assumption using microfiltration (MF) and ultrafiltration (UF) membranes with and without fouling. The foulants used in the work were kaolin (inorganic) and humic acid (organic). The intrinsic resistances of MF and UF membranes remains at constant values regardless of temperature change. When the same amount of foulants were accumulated on the membrane, inorganic fouling resistance with kaolin was constant regardless of temperature change while organic fouling resistance with humic acid decreased at higher temperatures, which means that TC-TMP cannot be used as a fouling index when organic fouling occurs in a real field application. Since TC-TMP underestimates the amount of fouling at higher temperatures, more attention should be necessary in the operation of membrane water treatment plant in a hotter season like summer.
The objective of this study was to investigate electrical conductivity of fabrics from polyester (PET) and Nylon (N) containing polyurethane (PU), with silver paste patterns screen-stenciled in three directions. The PET/PU and N/PU fabrics knitted or woven were uniaxially strain-recovered up to 22.5% in three times when each change in electrical resistance was simultaneously measured. This study established four variables that complexly affected electrical conductivity of these specimens; fabric structures, components, cover factors, and the percolation of silver particles. The woven or knitted fabric structures did not distinctively cause the changes in electrical resistance, however, the woven fabrics with the diagonal patterns showed their relatively high electrical resistance. The PET/PU fabrics with increasing the PET proportion generally presented the opposite propensity to its electrical conductivity. The changes in electric resistance of the PET/PU 85/15 2/1 twill and double plain fabrics instantaneously responded to the rate of elongation. The PET/PU group exhibited a reverse correlation between its cover factor and electrical resistivity. The highest electrical conductivity of the PET/PU 95/5 interlock fabric, with very few fluctuations, was attributed to the deep percolation of the silver particles that bridged the gaps between one loop and another. On the other hand, the occurrence of the silver cracks along with the elongated direction led to the immeasurably high change in electrical resistance as the strain increased.
Porous hybrid preforms were fabricated by reactive sintering using the compacts consisting of SiC particles, Fe and Al powders. Squeeze casting processing was employed to produce the composite in which the matrix phase is Al-Si7Mg. The microstructural change and wear resistance of the composites were investigated in terms of an amount of SiC particles. The wear loss was increased with increasing the contact pressure in the alloy containing SiC particles coated with Cu. The most drastic change was found to the specimen tested at 2.5 MPa of contact pressure. Concerning the alloys containing SiC particles coated with Ni-P, a drastic increase in the wear loss exhibited at 2 MPa of contact pressure in those alloys containing 4 and 8 wt. % of SiC particles coated with Ni-P. In the alloy containing 16 wt. % a proportional increase in wear loss was observed to the change of contact pressure. With respecting to the sliding velocity, the wear loss of the alloy containing SiC particles coated with Cu increased at the initial stage of wear process and then decreased. Similar result was found in the alloys containing SiC particles coated with Ni-P. On the basis of the present results obtained, it was found that wear resistance of the alloys tested was improved to show in the order of the alloy reinforced by coated SiC particles > by uncoated SiC particles > by intermetallic compound without SiC particles.
This study aimed to produce fiber stretch sensors for smart soccer socks to prevent injuries during training. A sensor was manufactured with stretchable fabric and tested to ensure convenience during training. In order to manufacture the fiber stretch sensor, a CNT dispersion solution was applied to an e-band and elastic polyester fabric, and the performance of the sensors was evaluated by a tensile test. Performance evaluation showed that both of the tested fabrics are excellent for this purpose. Both sensors were attached to socks to create prototype wearable devices, and an experiment was conducted to determine whether a resistance change accompanying relaxation and contraction of the gastrocnemius muscle could be detected. In order to accurately evaluate performance as a sensor, the fabric was stretched 20 times at low speeds of 1 Hz and 0.5 Hz. A change in resistance due to tension was observed, with both the E-band and the stretchable poly fabric showing high sensitivity and high reproducibility. Both can be used as relaxation/contraction sensors. Smart soccer socks were made using the two materials, and an evaluation was conducted. Tensile tests were done on the smart soccer socks; the tests were done 20 times per sock, and the sensor showed a stable resistance change between 30 and 40 ohms depending on the tension of the sensor. As a result, we confirmed that smart soccer socks with stretch sensors made of E-bands can measure changes in the gastrocnemius muscle.
AHydrogen induced cracking (HIC) was phenomenologically studied in terms of the effect of nonmetallic inclusions and hot rolling process parameters. By comparing the level of non-metallic inclusions in two different kinds of commercial grade steels having different HIC resistance, the role of non-metallic inclusions in HIC occurrence was investigated. Change in inclusion morphology and distribution during hot rolling was also studied throughout slab, rolling at austenite recrystallization region (roughing mill; RM) and rolling at austenite non-recrystallization region (finish mill; FM). In addition, the contribution of RM and FM parameters to HIC was investigated from the standpoint of change in inclusion morphology during hot rolling processes. As a result, HIC was closely related to the separation of large complex inclusion during hot rolling process. Large complex inclusions originated from the improper Ca treatment, after which equilibrium composition of slag should have resulted in eutectoid composition. By controlling the equilibrium slag composition equivalent to eutectoid one, HIC resistance could be improved due to the reduced size of inclusions. In addition, change in reduction/pass in RM had an effect on HIC resistance of steels while that in FM did not. Increase in the reduction/pass in the latter stage of RM improved HIC resistance of steels by enhancing the void enclosure around inclusions.
