Synthesis of Silicon Tracelsss Linker for Solid-Phase Reaction

  • The silicon linker is the foremost traceless linker used in solid-phase reactions. Hydrogen fluo-ride (HF) or trifluoroacetic aicd (TFA) can remove the silicon linker with the silicon atom being replaced by a hydrogen atom. In this experiment, the linkers 1c and 2d, which are the most useful in solid-phase reactions, were synthesized, Linker 1c is composed of seven linearly linked carbons and linker 2d includes an oxygen atom in the linear carbon chain to increase the solvation capacity. The carboxylic acid component of linker 1c and 2d forms an amide or ester bond with resin. The synthesized linkers 1c and 2d could be utilized in constructing a chemical compound library that includes indole, benzodiazepine and phenothiazine (aromatic ring compounds).

  • Stone cultural properties, exposed in natural environment, is deteriorated by many weathering reasons for a long time. It is necessary to treat of consolidation and water-repellent on the surface because of the conservation of stone cultural properties. We was treated the specimen [granite(Hwangdung-suk), sandstone, marble(in JeongSeon)] by synthesis resin of DWR-Ⅲ, SI2121 and fluoropolymer, and tested on the durability, water-repellent, color stability and luster generation etc. In the result of this study, DWR-Ⅲ and fluoropolymer is superior to the waterrepellent, durability of salt and acid rain. SI2121 is superior to the penetration because of lower viscosity, but the water-repellent is inferior to the others. After the treatment of chemicals, the color-variation make an appearance but luster-generation doesn’t. With the passage of time, the color of specimen was got better because of the ‘washing’ phenomenon for ultra-violet, salt etc.

Polyamine Constituents of Korea White Ginseng and Fresh Ginseng Root (한국산(韓國産) 백삼(白蔘)과 수삼(水蔘)의 Polyamine 성분에 관한 연구)

  • Polyamine constituents of fresh Panax ginseng root and dried white ginseng were extracted with 5% trichloroacetic acid, respectively. The isolation of polyamine constituents was conducted by the cation exchange chromatography using $Dowex-50W{\times}8$ resin and the detection was performed with TLC. Identification of the polyamine was carried out by the methods of IR, NMR, MS spectroscopy and GLC. Polyamine constituents of white and fresh ginseng root were identical and composed of five different polyamines. The major polyamine in white and fresh ginseng root was determined as putrescine.

  • ZnO varistors were prepared by the organochemical method which used citric acid and ethylene glycol as gelling agents. The microstructure of the sintered specimens exhibited small grains, uniform grain size distribution, and few intragranular pores. Thermal decomposition of the organic resin formed during the powder preparation process was completed around 450$^{\circ}C$. No significant changes were observed in microstructure and current voltage characteristic with respect to calcination temperatures. A major advantage of the organochemical method used in this experiment is a possible uniform mixing of trace amounts of dopants. Therefore, this powder preparation method seems promising in investigating the effect of Li or In ion, which is added in ppm level to ZnO varistors, on the pulse respose characteristic.

  • In order to improve the shrink resistance of wool, the fabric was treated with D.C.C.A.(Di-chloro Isocyanuric Acid) and Hercosett. The results obtained as follows, 1. The optimum condition for the shrink resistance of wool fabric was Hercosett concentration of about 2.0~2.5%(o.w.f), pH of 7, the curing temperature of about $140^{\circ}C$, and curing time of 3 minutes. 2. The physical properties with the experimental conditions, such as the tensile strength, bending strengh, crease recovery, tearing strengh were confirmed by measurements.

  • This study was conducted to manufacture the soluble micro-fiber and to synthesize low melting polymer for the interior fabric not to use the polyurethane resin causing some problems. Low melting polyester for weft yarn was introduced by adding 30-40 mol% ratio of isophthalic acid to a main chain of polyethylene terephthalate to decrease the melting temperature up to heat setting temperature. Micro-fiber for warp yarn consisted of both soluble and insoluble components with multi-layered structure. When the soluble micro-fiber was treated by alkaline hydrolysis with 3-5% concentration of NaOH, it showed the turning point at 28% weight loss since soluble polyester was hydrolyzed approximate five times faster than regular polyester.

  • Nano-size manganese ferrite reinforced conductive polypyrrole composites reveal a core-shell structure by in situ polymerization, in the presence of dodecyl benzene sulfonic acid as the surfactant and dopant, and iron chloride as the oxidant. The structure and magnetic properties of manganese ferrite nano-fillers were measured, by using X-ray diffraction and vibrating sample magnetometer. The morphology, microstructure, and conductivity of the composite were characterized by transmission electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and four-wire technique. The microwave-absorbing properties of composites reinforcement dispersed in resin coating with the coating thickness of 1.2 nm were investigated, by using vector network analyzers, in the frequency range of 8~12 GHz. A reflection loss of -8 dB was observed at 10.5 GHz.

  • Anatomical and physico-chemical properties of some nutrient and tonic crude drugs have been estimated and compared. Resin duct and druse crystal were observed more in Acanthopanax Cortex than in Ginseng Radix. Bast fiber bundle and solitary crystals were abandantly present in Glycyrrhizae Radix. Mucilage crude drugs contained mucilage ducts and bundles of raphides as common components and their arrangements of vascular bundles were different. TLC analysis showed different patterns of saponin, flavonoid, ${\gamma}-aminobutyric$ acid and sitosterols.

  • Langasite({{{{ { La}_{ 3} {Ga }_{5 } {SiO }_{14 } , LGS}}}}) powder was prepared by a polymerized complex method based on the Pechini-type reaction. A mixed solution of ethylene glycol(EG), cotric acid(CA), lanthanum, gallium and silicon ions, with a molar ratio of EG:CA:La:Ga:Si=100:25:3:5:1, was polymerzed to from a transparent resin, which was used as a precursor for the synthesis of LGS. X-ray diffraction(XRD) patterns indicated that the LGS phase could be formed by the heat-treatment in air at 1000$^{\circ}C$ for 3hrs

  • Great amounts of solid radioactive waste (second waste) and waste solution are generated from the remediation of uranium-contaminated soil. To reduce these, we investigated washing with a less acidic solution and recycling the waste solution after removal of the dominant elements and uranium. Increasing the pH of the washing solution from 0.5 to 1.5 would be beneficial in terms of economics. A high content of calcium in the waste solution was precipitated by adding sulfuric acid. The second waste can be significantly reduced by using sorption and desorption techniques on ampholyte resin S-950 prior to the precipitation of uranium at pH 3.0.
