This investigation was designed to determine the effectiveness of the posterior occlusal schemes on masticatory activity during mastication in complete denture. Twelve edentulous subjects were selected for this study. All subjects had no past history and no functional abnormality on masticatory system and TMjoint. And, they had residual ridge of favorable morphology, firm mucosa and Class I skeletal jaw relationship, Twelve experimental denture with interchangeable occlusions(0-degree teeth, 30-degree teeth, Levin teeth and S-A teeth) were constructed for this study. The masticatory performance was analyzed by means of standard sieve(10, 16, 20, 30sieve), and the electrical activity from selected muscles(Temporalis and Masseter muscle) was recorded simultaneously with electromyography(Bio-Pak system) as the subject masticated test foods (rice, peanut and gum) with four different occlusal schemes. Mandibular movement was, also, measured with Sirognathography(Bio-Pak system). These recordings were performed in immediately, after 1 week and after 2 weeks of insertion of complete denture. The results were as follows; 1. The average masticatory performance of 0-degree artificial teeth was higher than any other artificial teeth. 2. Masticatory performance in denture wearer was affected preferentially by food and artificial occlusal schemes. 3. During chewing, there was a statistical difference of EMG activity between masseter and temporal muscle(p<0.01). Especially, EMG activity of working masticatory muscle was highly affected by food rather than by artificial occlusal schemes. 4. In denture wearer, the velocity of opening was not affected by food, whereas, the velocity of closing was faster in soft food chewing than in hard food chewing, and the amount of vertical displacement was grater in chewing of soft and large bolus than in chewing of hard and small bolus. However, the amount of lateral displacement showed conversely (p<0.05). 5. It was considered that masticatory performance in denture wearer is not affected by the condition of residual ridge, the history of denture wear, the preference, the adaptation to artificial teeth and the total mesiodistal length of artificial posterior teeth.

The characteristics of 304 (Fe-18%Cr-12%Ni) and 316L (Fe-18%Cr-13%Ni-2.4%Mo) austenite stainless-steel compacts sintered with $5{\sim}15{\mu}m$ powder were investigated and the results led to the following conclusions: (1) When the sintering time was 3.6ks, the relative density of sintered compacts was $95{\sim}98%$, regardless of any other sintering condition. (2) When a vacuum sintering was done with $5{\mu}m$ stainless steel powders, almost fully-dense sintered compacts were obtained at is = 57.6ks. (3) The amount of residual oxygen in 304 and 316L sintered compacts was $0.5{\sim}0.6%$, regardless of sintering atmosphere. (4) The amount of residual oxygen in the vacuum sintered compact decreased more than 0.3 % due to addition of carbon powder, thereby reducing the formation of oxides. Furthermore, the addition of carbon improved the density of sintered compact, which enables us to make a fully-dense high performance sintered compact.

To develop more robust oil boom which is vulnerable to various failure mode under severe weather condition, highly accurate wave model is developed using Spatially filtered Navier-Stokes Eq., LDS (Lagrangian Dynamic Smagorinsky model) for residual stresses, SPH (Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics). To clarify the hydraulic characteristics of floating type oil boom, we numerically simulate the behavior of oil spill around oil boom under very energetic progressive waves. At the first stage, we firmly anchored the oil boom, and then, allowed the excursion of the oil boom. It turns out that oil boom with skirt of enough length (longer than 30% of depth) effectively confines the oil spill even against very energetic waves. We can also observe obliquely descending vertical eddies between y = 1~2 m as horizontal vortices shedding at the interface of oil spill and water are diffused toward the bottom, which is believed to be the birth, growing and break-down of Kelvin-Helmholz wave.

T-joint and hopper knuckle joint models are typical welded joints in ship structure, which are very susceptible to fatigue damage under service condition. Fatigue test and fracture mechanical analysis were performed on these joints to find out characteristics of fatigue behavior. Unified S-N curve was developed from the test results of these two types of joint using hot spot stress concept, and also propagation life was also estimated using Paris' crack propagation law. Residual stress effect on propagation life was considered in calculating propagation life, as was done with thermo-elasto-plastic FE analysis and residual stress intensity factor calculation. Fatigue life of similar kinds of welded joint could be predicted with this unified S-N curve and fracture mechanical analysis technique.
Chelating agents have been proposed to improve the efficiency of phytoextraction of heavy metal hyperaccumulator. However, little studies to elucidate mechanism of chelating agents to increase cadmium (Cd) extractability have been conducted. The objectives of this study were to evaluate effect of different chelating agents on Cd extractability and to determine mechanism of Cd mobilization affected by these agents. An arable soil was spiked with inorganic Cd ($CdCl_2$) to give a total Cd concentration of $20mgCdkg^{-1}$. Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) and citric acid (CA) were selected and mixed with the arable soil at the rates of 0 and $5mmolkg^{-1}$. The mixture soils were incubated at $25^{\circ}C$ for 4 weeks in dark condition. Concentration of F1 Cd fractions (water soluble) significantly increased with addition of EDTA but did not changed with addition of CA. Especially; concentration of F5 Cd fractions (residual) significantly increased with addition of CA. Increase in water soluble with EDTA might be attributed to complexation of Cd and EDTA. Dissolved organic carbon concentration significantly increased with EDTA addition, but did not with CA implying that considerable amount of CA was decomposed to inorganic carbon by microorganism. Log activity of carbonate ($CO_3{^{2-}}$) which might be generated from CA increased with addition of CA. Increase in residual Cd fraction might be due to precipitation of Cd as $CdCO_3$. As a result, EDTA was effective in increasing Cd extractability, by contrast CA had significant effect in reducing Cd extractability.

In this study, unidirectional and plain woven carbon fiber reinforced magnesium matrix composite laminates were fabricated by the liquid pressing infiltration process, and evolutions of the microstructure and compressive strength of the composite laminates under corrosion were investigated by static immersion tests. In the case of the unidirectional composite laminate, the main microstructural damage during immersion appeared as a form of corrosion induced cracks, which were formed at both CF/Mg interfaces and the interfaces between layers. On the otherhand, wrap/fill interface cracks were mainly formed in the plain woven composite laminate, without any cracks at the CF/Mg interface. The formation of these cracks was considered to be associated with internal thermal residual stress, which was generated during cooling after the fabrication process of these materials. As a consequence of the corrosion induced cracks, the thickness of both laminates increased in directions vertical to the fibers with increasing immersion time. With increasing immersion time, the compressive strengths of both composite laminates also decreased continuously. It was found that the plain woven composite laminates have superior corrosion resistance and stability under a corrosive condition than unidirectional laminates.

The reclaimed water has been highlighted as a representative alternative to solve the lacking water resources. This study examined the reduction of residual free chlorine by temperature (5, 15, $25^{\circ}C$) and initial injection concentration (1, 2, 4, 6 mg/L) in the reclaimed water and carried out propose on the calculating method of the optimal chlorine dosage. As the reclaimed water showed a very fast reaction with chlorine at the intial time comparing to that of drinking water, the existing general first-order decay model ($C_t=C_o(e^{-k_bt})$) was not suitable for use. Accordingly, the reduction of residual free chlorine could be estimated in a more accurate way as a result of applying the exponential first-order decay model ($C_t=a+b(e^{-k_bt})$). ($r^2$=0.872~0.988). As a result of calculating the bulk decay constant, it showed the highest result at 653 $day^{-1}$ under the condition of 1 mg/L, $25^{\circ}C$ for the initial injection whereas it showed the lowest result at 3.42 $day^{-1}$ under the condition of 6 mg/L, $5^{\circ}C$ for the initial injection. The bulk decay constant tends to increase as temperature increases, whereas the bulk decay constant tends to decrease as the initial injection concentration increases. More accurate calculation for optimal chlorine dosage could be done by using the experimental results for 30~5,040 min, after the entire response time is classified into 0~30 min and 30~5,040 min to calculate the optimal chlorine dosage. In addition, as a result of calculating the optimal chlorine dosage by temperature, the relationships of initial chlorine demand (y) by temperature (x) could be obtained such as y=1.409+0.450x to maintain 0.2 mg/L of residual free chlorine at the time after 4 hours from the chlorine injection.
This study is carried out to learn the properties of forest soils in Korea and propose the reasonable management methods of forest land. Among 178 soil series surveyed until now in Korea forest soils include 64 series broken down according to the weathered products into 5 categories such as residual materials on mountain and hill, residual materials on rolling and hill, colluvial materials on local valley and fans, alluvial materials and volcanic ash soils. What discussed in this paper are classification system, parent rocks, texture class and drainage conditions of Korean forest soils. The characteristics of Korean forest soil properties classified in U.S.D.A. soil classification system are as follows: 1. Residual soils on mountain and hill (29 soil series) are almost Lithosols without any distinct soil profile development. They have loamy skeletal (11 series), coarse loamy (5 series), fine loamy (3 series), and fine clayey soils (3 series). Their drainage conditions are somewhat excessively drained in 16 series and well drained in 7 series. 2. Residual soils on rolling and hill (19 series) are Red-Yellow Podzolic soils with well developed soil profiles. They have coarse and fine loamy texture in 12 series and fine clayey texture in 5 series mostly with well drained condition. 3. Colluvial soils on local valley and fans (13 series) include mostly Regosols and some Red-Yellow Podzolic Soils and Acid Brown Forest Soils. They have loamy skeletal (4 series), coarse loamy (3 series), fine loamy (3 series), and fine clayey soils (2 series) with well drained condition. 4. Soil textures of weathered products of parent rocks are as follows: 1) Parent rocks producing coarse texture soils are rhyolite, granite gneiss, schist, shale, sandstone, siltstone, and conglomerate. 2) Parent rocks producing fine and heavy texture soils are limestone, basalt, gabbro, and andesite porphyry. 3) Granite is a parent rock producing various textured soils.
This study has obtained Soil Water Retention Curve (SWRC) of the unsaturated soil from the volumetric pressure plate extractor test and the triaxial compression tests was also conducted. By using the rainfall data measured in the site the seepage analysis of unsteady flow was performed with the program of SEEP/W in Geostudio 2007 and stability of the slope was analyzed with SLOPE/W program. Results of analyses show that shear strength of the unsaturated soil increases with the increase of matric suction. And it was also found that the net volumetric stress and the apparent cohesion increased with the matric suction. The seepage analysis of rainfall represents that the increasing rate of negative pore pressure at the zone of large negative pore pressure is appeared to be high even though lower rainfall intensity, but this tendency declines with ground depth. The stability analysis of slope was carried out for the actual plane of failure with the data representing the field condition. The factor of safety thus calculated was about unity (1.0) or just below, which means that the adopted method of analysis is in good agreement with the field condition.
New formulation of diazinon as granule preparing with piperonyl butoxide(PBO) and triphenyl phosphate(TPP) known as the inhibitor of monooxygenase(mo) and esterase was tested with the mortality of rice leaf hopper. Also, the mixed formulation of diazinon with tricyclazole, carbofuran and EPN were investigated about the residual pattern of diazinon in submerged soil condition at $30{\pm}2^{\circ}C$. Although the mortality about rice leaf hopper was higher only 10% on new formulation of diazinon than commercial at recommended dose but was 30-60% at half dose. Half life of diazinon in the formulation with 0.1% of PBO+TPP was 4.53 days in sterilized soil and 2.33 days in non-sterilized soil, and it was delayed about 0.74 and 0.45 respectively in contrast with the commercial granule. Also, half life of the new formulation with 1% PBO and PBO+TPP was delayed 0.44(PBO) and 0.65day(PBO+TPP) in non-sterilized soil condition, respectively. Half life of mixed formulation with tricyclazole, carbofuran, EPN or EPN+Carbofuran was delayed 2.61, 1.04, 0.43 or 2.7 days, respectively. As a result, the persistence rate of new formulation and mixed formulation was increased by inhibition of two enzymes affecting to the dgradation of diazinon in submerged soil.
