Electricity is the basic building block of economic development, and constitutes one of the vital infra-structural inputs in socio-economic development. The demand for electricity has been increasing due to extensive urbanization, industrialization, and a rise in the standard of living, as is the case with residential electricity consumption. This paper attempts to estimate the consumer surplus and the economic value of the residential consumption of electricity in Seoul to assist in decision-making in electricity management. The estimated consumer surplus represents the value of the area under the demand curve, above the actual price that is paid for residential electricity consumption. The estimated annual consumer surplus and economic value for the year 2005 amount to 2,144.7 and 3,727.4 billion won, respectively. The estimates per kWh were 184.9 and 316.0 won, respectively, which imply that the consumer surplus and the economic value of residential electricity consumption significantly outweigh the average price of electricity in 2005 of 91.1 won per kWh.
This paper attempts to estimate the residential electricity demand function, using survey data of 521 households in Korea. As the residential electricity demand function provides us information on the pattern of consumer's electricity consumption, it can be usefully utilized in predicting the impact of policy variables such as electricity price and forecasting electricity demands. We apply least absolute deviation(LAD) estimation as a robust approach to estimating parameters. The results showed that price and income elasticities are -0.68 and 0.14 respectively, and statistically significant at the 10% levels. The price and income elasticities portray that residential electricity is price- and income-inelastic. This implies that the residential electricity is indispensable goods to human-being's life, thus the residential electricity demand would not be promptly adjusted to responding to price and/or income change.
Population aging has been one of the serious problems in Korea. Aging can affect social and economic features including energy consumption. This paper analyzed how population aging makes an effect on residential electricity demand. Yearly data from 1965 to 2010 were collected. The long and short-run demands for residential electricity were estimated with respect to Korean aging index. The results show that population aging reduces residential electricity demands in the short run significantly, but the effect decreases in the long run. However, population aging still negatively affects residential electricity consumption in long run. If population keep aging as Korean government expected, then the residential electricity demand per capita will grow less than 3%.
In this paper, we draws tendency of the electricity consumption in residential buildings according to inhabitants Composition types and the level of incomes. it is necessary to reduce energy cost and keep energy security through the electricity demand forecasting and management technology. Progressive social change such as increases of single household, the aging of society, increases in the income level will replace the existing residential electricity demand pattern. However, Only with conventional methods that using only the energy consumption per-unit area are based on Energy final consumption data can not respond to those social and environmental change. To develop electricity demand estimation model that can cope flexibly to changes in the social and environmental, In this paper researches propensity of electricity consumption according to the type of residents configuration, the level of income. First, we typed form of inhabitants in residential that existed in Korea. after that we calculated hourly electricity consumption for each type through National Time-Use Survey performed at the National Statistical Office with considering overlapping behavior. Household appliances and retention standards according to income level is also considered.
Block-rate structures are widely used in utility-pricing, including the Korean residential electricity sector. In the case of the current pricing structure, Korean citizens are highly concerned about incurring excessive electricity costs. For these reasons, there have been many discussions concerning mitigation of the strict pricing structure. Existing studies on the residential electricity demand function under block-rate structure have the following three issues - the consumer's budget constraint is non-linear, perceived price under block-rate structure is uncertain, block-rate structure has endogeneity in the price variable. In this context, this paper estimates the residential electricity demand function using micro-level household expenditure data and simulates the impact of alternative block-pricing schedules.

Electricity contributes to the development of the economy. Therefore, forecasting electricity demand plays an important role in the development of the electricity industry in particular and the economy in general. This study aims to provide a precise model for long-term electricity demand forecast in the residential sector by using three independent variables include: Population, Electricity price, Average annual income per capita; and the dependent variable is yearly electricity consumption. Based on the support of Multiple variable regression, the proposed method established a model with variables that relate to the forecast by ignoring variables that do not affect lead to forecasting errors. The proposed forecasting model was validated using historical data from Vietnam in the period 2013 and 2020. To illustrate the application of the proposed methodology, we presents a five-year demand forecast for the residential sector in Vietnam. When demand forecasts are performed using the predicted variables, the R square value measures model fit is up to 99.6% and overall accuracy (MAPE) of around 0.92% is obtained over the period 2018-2020. The proposed model indicates the population's impact on total national electricity demand.
Predicting how much energy to use is an important issue in society. However, it is more difficult to capture the usage characteristics of residential buildings than other buildings. This paper provides time series analysis methods for electricity consumption in a residential building. Temperature is closely related to electricity demand. An error correction model, which is a method of adjusting the error with time, is applied when a cointegration relation is established between variables. Therefore, we analyze data via ECMs with consideration of the temperature effect.
An electricity consumption is closely related to the economic growth structure. The change of economic growth structure affects the pattern of electricity consumption widely and severely. This paper gives that the primary changing factors of electricity growth are economic growth, change of industry structure(the change of electricity consumption ratio in case of residential sector), and the effect of electricity saying. It gives a model to analyze the influence of GDP to the change of electricity consumption patterns by sector through the period of pre and post 1998(IMF, financial crisis) to observe the contribution of each factor to the growth of electricity demand. It is anticipated that this study shows the feasible scheme of economic structure to become the developed country.
This paper presents database for electricity demand-side management. Demand-Side Management(DSM) refers to programs that influence the usage of energy for improved economic efficiency and reduced environmental impact DSM can be looked upon as a tool for energy utilities to find resources on the demand side instead of on the supply side, or as a more general tool for society to better use and distribute scarce resources. In this paper, we construct the database for electricity demand-side management and apply it to residential and commercial sector.

Increasing cost of electricity due to rising price of fuel is one of the local community's main issues. In this research, switching of grid dependent system to the grid-tied Photovoltaic (PV) system with net metering for a residential building is proposed. The system is designed by considering the maximum energy demand of the building. The designed system is analyzed using RETScreen on technical, economic and environmental grounds. It is found that the system is able to produce 12,000 kWh/year. The system is capable to fulfill the electricity demand of the building during day time and is also capable to sell the energy to the local grid causing the electric meter to run in reverse direction. During night time, electricity will be purchased from grid, and electric meter will run in the forward direction. The system is economically justified with a payback period of only 3 years with net present value of PKR. 4,758,132. Also, the system is able to reduce 7.2 tons of CO2 not produced in the entire life of the project.
