  • The construction industry is a significant component of many economies and typically contains a high proportion of small and medium enterprises. However, it is generally understood that this industry is fragmented, adversarial, not highly innovative and not quick to respond to change. At the same time, the industry is under pressure to continue to embrace new technologies and methods, and to adapt better to current and emerging global issues such as sustainability. In order to meet these challenges, firms in the industry need to understand the issues involved and manage their practices accordingly. This paper describes exploratory research into the role of innovative and environmentally sustainable design and construction practices in one group of construction firms, viz., smaller residential building firms in Queensland, Australia.

노인 전문요양시설의 공간구성에 관한 연구 - 전라북도 소재 5개 시설을 중심으로 - (A Case Study of Spatial Composition of Elderly Skilled Nursing Facility - Focused on 5 facilities of Jeonbuk Province of Korea -)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze spatial composition of elderly skilled nursing facility and to provide basic information for setting up the detail facility architectural guidelines. The results of the study were following: the residential spaces of the facilities in this study were more or less overcrowded since their capacity were more than 5 elderly residents. The dimensions of some residential spaces did not even come up to the standard of elderly welfare law in force. On the other hand, the facilities had a tendency to use a space with multiple purposes or to allocate a space but to leave it with no use. Moreover comparing with the 1st floor, which was mainly for the staffs and had enough space to spare, the upper floor which was for the elderly residents, was crowded with nursing staffs and elderly residents and had densely closed residential and public spaces. For the problem solving, law and regulation modification is needed according to the case study about the usage and using frequency of each facility space. And the crowded area for the elderly residents could be enlarged through the reduction(or combination) of the rarely used spaces and moving a few residential spaces into the 1st floor.

  • The development of digital technology makes our life more convenient in our lives and its calmness promotes the qualify of our life. Digital-home-automation system lets indoor-living more free, safe and clear so that it really has come true our life style that considers our mind and healthy to be important. Moreover, LED light source that combines the semiconductor with the digital technology has been tried as a current indoor illumination. Also the introduction of the light which has a high technology, like LED light, has been required in living space. It shows that it is very important to have an illuminated- plan which is accepted as well-developed technology. This study deals with the investigation into the user satisfaction of the existing residential area illumination and the investigation into the user satisfaction of the LED illumination being supplied for commercial area now. In the result, the fact is investigated that the user wants the introduction of the digital technology In the illumination because of a backward the residental area illumination in the circumstances being digital gradually. The inconvenience of the illumination used now should be minimized and the development of the LED illumination is a way satisfying the desire. The intended illumination project of the residential area should be accomplished according to the lifestyle of a changing residence.

주거공간 단위가연물의 열역학적 수치해석 모델링에 관한 연구 (A Study for Thermal Mechanism of Residential Combustibles with Numerical Modeling)

  • 본 연구는 주거공간에 배치된 가연물의 열역학적 연소모델을 구현하는데 목적이 있다. 화재하중과 화재 강도는 성능설계의 사용이 증가함에 따라 건축물 화재안전 설계에 중요한 요소로 대두되고 있으며, 컴퓨터를 이용한 수치해석을 통해 예측이 가능해 지고 있다. 주거 가연물의 열역학적 연소특성을 예측하기 위해 각 가연물의 수치해석용 모델을 설계하였다. 해석된 결과를 검증하기 위해 수치해석의 결과를 실물 연소실험의 열방출량 결과와 비교하였다. 수치해석을 위해 FDS를 사용하였으며, 난류해석을 위해 LES모델이 사용되었다. 검증결과 열방출율 및 총발열량은 실험결과와 잘 일치함을 확인하였다.

초고층아파트 주거공간에 나타난 동선의 의미적 네트워크 체계에 관한 연구 (A Study on the semantic network system of the line of flow appearing on the residential space of super high-rise apartments)

  • The residential space of super high-rise buildings, having a form of a huge three-dimensional vertical city, affect the residents psychologically and qualitatively according to the line of flow. Because of these affects, the system of the line of flows is a very important factor. In this study, we recognize the super high-rise apartment's line of flow as a semantic network system based on case studies. And we also understand the mutual relationship by analyzing each space to recognize what effect it does on the residential environment. Furthermore, to bring up a better semantic network system for super high-rise apartment's line of flows is our goal. According to the case studies, the semantic network of the line of flow consists of 3 parts: the functional network, economical network and unit network. The functional network is composed of the 'need' and 'has', while the economical network includes variable walls that can be changed following the user's taste and eccentric positioned living rooms that protect personal privacy. Therefore the economical network started to appear while the personal value changed according to the improvement of the social condition. Finally, the unit network is a network that effects each unit that has ambiguous boundaries due to the appropriate arrangement between transitional spaces. And the unit network is based on the functional network.

도시지역 단일동 아파트의 계획특성 분석연구 - 대전광역시 단일동 아파트를 중심으로 - (A Study on the Characteristics of Single Housing Block - Focused on Daejeon Metropolitan City -)

  • This paper aims to investigate the design characteristics of a single housing block which is increasing in urban areas. For the analysis, all cases of single block housing in Daejeon metropolitan city were gathered into a database. Main concerns were on the location and the physical characteristics. The results of this study were as follows; 1) single block housing has been increasing both in the new developed areas and the existing urban areas 2) their location has shifted from residential districts to semi-residential and commercial districts. For this reason, the size and density has been increasing 3) the slab block with the hall type and the exterior corridor type were general in residential districts, diverse ones, however, including the point tower type were increasing with unusual circulation types such as central corridor, central core, double corridor, and mixed type in semi-residential and commercial districts 4) there were 5 types of access systems, and especially the street access and the piloti access were increasing, which were related with the high density.

국내 특허 사례 연구를 통한 임시 주거용 프리패브 모듈라 구조 분석 (Analysis on Temporary Residential Prefabricated Modular Structure through Domestic Patent Case Study)

  • 본 연구는 재난 상황 발생 후 이재민들에게 임시 주거용 공간을 손쉽게 제공하기 위한 임시 주거용 프리패브 모듈라 구조를 제안하기 위해서 진행하였다. 이를 위해 관련 디자인 개념 및 실행을 위해 국내에 등록된 조립식 구조물이나 프리패브 구조와 관련된 다양한 특허를 검색하고 수집하였으며, 이를 특성별로 분류하였다. 결과적으로 임시 주거용 프리패브 모듈라 구조의 공간은 "확장성", "조립 및 해체의 용이성", "빌트인 구조", 그리고 "에너지 효율성"과 같은 추가적인 주요 요인에 대해서도 고려해야 하며, 각 사례는 "세부 조립 모듈형", "모듈형 확장형", "공간 유닛 확장형"의 3가지의 형식으로 구분되었다. 향후 연구에서는 해외 특허를 대상으로 다양한 사례를 수집하고 분석할 예정이며, 이를 통해 가능한 낮은 생산 단가로 양산 및 제공할 수 있도록 구체적인 구현 방법에 대해서도 제안하고자 한다.

재난 시 대응을 위한 Flexible-Unit형 인프라 프리(임시)주거의 성능평가 (Evaluation of Residential Performance in Commercialization of Flexible Unit Infra Free Residential for Disaster)

  • In this paper a new kind of unit-prefabricated building is shown. The unit-prefabricated buildings are made up living unit, energy unit, water unit. The design trend implemented the energy insulation, solar PV panels, energy storage system which are maintained for zero energy buildings. We made a prototype for zero energy flexible residential unit. The first step, we was evaluated the physical performance, insulation, airtightness. The second step, we was evaluated energy performance building to design heating and cooling system to combined PV system. As a results, the insulation performance wall was $0.18W/(m^2{\cdot}K)$. The results of air-tightness was 12.13 ACH@50 (1/h). The building energy demand ratings and solar energy generation has the possible to be ballanced.

생태학적 접근으로 본 말레이시아 거주 한인 여성의 주거경험 (An Ecological Approach to Housing Experience of Korean Women in Malaysia)

  • This study was designed to understand the residential experience of Korean women living in tropical country. For qualitative research, interviewees were selected by snowball sampling among Korean women living in Malaysia for over 20 years. The selection criteria for interviewees included husband's nationality, occupational experience, future living plan, frequency of travel to Korea. In-depth group and individual interviews were conducted from August 23 to October 7 2014. Subsequently (1) interviewees' general residential experiences in Malaysia were summarized, (2) interviewee's identity and lifestyle with housing pathways approach were clarified, (3) interviewees' residential experiences in 5 issues, reciprocity in residential area, intention of environmental change, meaning of housing and interaction, housing adaptation, and residential satisfaction/dissatisfaction were prescribed and interpreted. In conclusion, the reflection of interviewees' experiences in tropical country, suggested variations of housing structure type within a residential complex, air well and pocket by setback in building block for improving ventilation and noise prevention from neighbors, and ceiling fans in the house were suggested for the upcoming subtropical climate in Korea. Full option and minus options were also suggested for the presale market to reduce before occupancy remodeling needs. The research results implies valuable suggestions for a multicultural society, ecological housing and stronger communities.

성남기성시가지 주거지재생을 위한 생활가로 특성 연구 (A Study on the Neighborhood Street Characteristics for Residential Regeneration in Original Part of Seongnam City)

  • This study starts from the architectural and urban interest to integrate the daily life and behavior of residents in the city of Seongnam and to sustain the community. A fixed abode is something that can not be separated from the place and should be approached from a comprehensive perspective reflecting the physical and social conditions of the region. Although residential neighborhoods have a residential walking range, which has a steep slope, it has been formed in the suburbs of the residential area where commercial facilities are activated organically. The humanities and social organizations of the residents are integrated with the physical space and act as constituent factors of major cities. This is an attempt to suggest improvement and activation of existing cities based on their daily lives, rather than destroying cities and creating new ones. Also, it is proposed to 'Neighborhood Street' as an indicator of a uniform urban renewal plan for existing urban regeneration projects. Based on the definition of the city of living in the city, the center of the city will be located in the center of the city, and it will be the center of the city's bustling streets.
