  • Algorithm design is needed to optimized bandwidth which satisfy quality of service(QoS) requirements of vary traffic classes for Multimedia service in ATM networks. The diverse flow characteristics e.g., burstiness, bit rate and burst length, have to guarantee the different quality of service(QoS) requirements in Asynchronous Transfer Mode(ATM). The QoS parameter may be measured in terms of cell loss probability and maximum cell dely. In this paper, we consider the ATM networks which the virtual path(vip) concept is implemented by applying the Markov Modulated Deterministic Process method. We develop an efficient algorithm to computer the minimum capacity required to satisfy all the QoS requirements when multiple classes of on-off source are multiplexed on single VP. Using above the result, we propose a simple algorithm to determine the VP combination to achieve the near optimum of total capacity required for satisfying the individual QoS requirements. Numerical results are also presented to demonstrate the performance of the algorithm, when compared to the optimal total capacity required.

  • At present, Web services become main means to construct web applications. As the number of web services grows and various kind of web services have been produced, QoS properties of web services are one of important criteria to select more appropriate web services. However, the selected web services may become inappropriate for the Requester's requirements, because QoS is kind of dynamic properties. this paper proposes a framework that proposed that finds an appropriate web service for Requester's QoS requirements, and dynamically replaces an inappropriate web service with right one. The problems which happen in substitution step are also identified and the solutions are described with an illustrative example.

  • This paper supposes an QoS supporting method based on an efficient subchannel allocation in OFDMA systems. The objective of this paper is to maximize the system throughput while satisfying QoS requirements of mobile multimedia services, comprising real-time and non-real-time services. The resource management for handover are necessary to maintain the QoS requirements of different multimedia applications because the service continuity may be defected by some delay and information loss.

  • High-Speed vehicles can be considered as multiple mobile nodes that move together in a large-scale mobile network. High-speed makes the time allowed for a mobile node to complete a handover procedure shorter and more frequently. Hence, several protocols are used to manage the mobility of mobile nodes such as Network Mobility (NEMO). However, there are still some problems such as high handover latency and packet loss. So efficient handover management is needed to meet Quality of Service (QoS) requirements for real-time applications. This paper utilizes the cross-layer seamless handover technique for network mobility presented in cellular networks. It extends this technique to propose QoS-aware NEMO protocol which considers QoS requirements for real-time applications. A novel analytical framework is developed to compare the performance of the proposed protocol with basic NEMO using cost functions for realistic city mobility model. The numerical results show that QoS-aware NEMO protocol improves the performance in terms of handover latency, packet delivery cost, location update cost, and total cost.

  • Lately development of network around Internet expands range of data traffic to multimedia information, and so for the guarantee of multimedia services end-to-end QoS(Quality of Service) must service because comparing with existing Internet service can not support For satisfying those QoS requirements, network have to guarantee not only network on parameter, such as delay, jitter, throughput but also system resources like CPU utilization, memory usage. Therefore it is urgent to develop QoS based middleware to distribute multimedia data and maximize network utilization in the limited resource environment. And it must be necessary of network to provide end-to-end QoS(Quality of Service) for multimedia applications. Multimedia applications want that QoS which satisfy their own service properties be guaranteed Then, We must analyze those necessary QoS requirements md define QoS parameter which specify as two viewpoint, user's and network's perspective. Therefore network provider supplying network for usual user and university, enterprise must want to find about their own network performance and problem. It is essential for network manager to want to use a tool like this. On the basis of technique about QoS test-bed in the AIM network, We studied on the method of QoS measurement and management about end-to-end connection in the Internet. We measured network status about end-to-end connection and analyze the result of performance.

  • Opportunistic scheduling provides the capability of resource management in wireless networks by taking advantage of multiuser diversity and by allowing delay variation in delivering data packets. It generally aims to maximize system throughput or guarantee fairness and quality of service (QoS) requirements. In this paper, we develop an extended proportional fair (PF) scheduling policy that can statistically guarantee three kinds of QoS. The scheduling policy is derived by solving the optimization problems in an ideal system according to QoS constraints. We prove that the practical version of the scheduling policy is optimal in opportunistic scheduling systems. As each scheduling policy has some parameters, we also consider practical parameter adaptation algorithms that require low implementation complexity and show their convergences mathematically. Through simulations, we confirm that our proposed schedulers show good fairness performance in addition to guaranteeing each user's QoS requirements.

  • This paper considers the analysis of QoS(Quality of Service) routing mechanisms to support the NGIs(Next Generation Internets). NGIs are constructing high-speed IP layer networks to support all data services. To support real time multimedia services on NGIs, it is important to satisfy the required QoS parameters on networks. To support QoS requirements for NGI networks, new QoS routing methods are essential. In this paper, serveral new QoS routing algorithms are explained. Some problems for the high speed QoS routing will be explained and possible solutions are suggested.

  • The paper studies the Quality of Service(QoS) concept in Broadband Integrated Services Digital Network (B-ISDN). Guaranteeing the QoS requirements indistributed multimedia systems and networks is fundamentally an end-to-end issus, that is, from application to application. An important issue in the QoS translation between the application-level QoS and network-level QoS is that the translation depends not only on the translation between system resources and network resources, but also on the translation between thelayered protocol and the access procedures. In this paepr, we propose a methodology for translating the AAL(ATM Adaptation Layer) QoS parameters into the ATM layer QoS parameters in end-systems. The QoS parameters in the ATM layer and AAL are defined, and we concentrate on the translation from the AAL to the ATM layer, because the AAL must be designed to be service dependent and specific. As an example, we concentrate on the constant bit rate(CBR) guaranteed real-time service using AAL1 protocol.

  • In this paper, we propose a QoS routing protocol for WiMAX based wireless mesh networks. The proposed routing protocol is a proactive hop-by-hop QoS routing protocol. It can find an optimal route that satisfies QoS requirements using bandwidth and delay as QoS parameters. In this paper, we first present a network model for WIMAX based wireless mesh networks and explain why QoS routing protocol is the most appropriate for WiMAX based wireless mesh networks. Then, we propose a proactive hop-by-hop QoS routing protocol that meets QoS requirements of traffic flowing between mesh client and the gateway. The simulation results show that the proposed routing protocol outperforms QOLSR protocol in terms of end-to-end delay, packet delivery ratio and routing overhead.

  • In order to meet the different requirements of a wide variety of user applications, the network should support the different quality of service requirements for different applications. While 3GPP has specified a number of QoS profiles for a 3G-GPRS (or UMTS), the implementation of QoS management is an issue. This paper presents the QoS management functions in the 3G-GPRS. The QoS management involves service manager, translation function, admission/capability control, and subscription control of users, and mapping function, classification function, resource manager, and traffic conditioner of user traffic. It also describes the QoS Management procedure during the session management when setting up the bearers.
