  • This paper describes the application of a model-based system design method critical to complex intelligent systems, PSARE, to a welding robot development to define its top level architecture. The PSARE model consists of requirement model which describes the core processes(function) of the system, enhanced requirement model which adds technology specific processes to requirement model and allocates them to architecture model, and architecture model which describes the structure and interfaces and flows of the modules of the system. This paper focuses on the detailed procedure and method rather than the detailed domain model of the welding robot. In this study, only the top level architecture of a welding robot was defined using the PSARE method. However, the method can be repeatedly applied to the lower level architecture of the robot until the process which the robot should perform can be clearly defined. The enhanced data flow diagram in this model separates technology independent processes and technology specific processes. This approach will provide a useful base not only for improvement of a class of welding robots but also for development of increasingly complex intelligent real-time systems.

  • Purpose: The objectives of this study were to develop a general purpose baler system that is appropriate for the domestic forage cultivation environment and operated by the medium size tractor for production of bale silage made of green forage crops, and to test its performance. Methods: In a first experiment, the time of formation per one bale and densities of bales that are produced from bale system, were measured. In a second experiment, power requirement was measured by a power measurement system manufactured during bale system work. Results: The power measurement system was constructed with strain-gage sensors to measure torque of a PTO axle and proximity sensor to measure rotating speed of a PTO axle. Thus, the power requirement was calculated by PTO torque and PTO rotating speed. For evaluation of bale quality, the samples of bales were analyzed for contents of moisture, ADF, NDF and TDN. Conclusions: If the results of this study will be utilized, the coefficient of utilization of agricultural machinery will be increased by the operation of a medium size tractor that is a major disseminated tractor in farm, and it will contribute tremendously to make a forage production base for livestock farms.

  • One of the most difficult problems in user requirement engineering is the communication gap that exists between different end-users, stakeholders, and software engineers. Since scenarios allow different stakeholders to describe and review the problem in their own language instead of some abstract model, they are also a solution to the problem. We propose a progressive, iterative and interleaved process of using scenario at different requirement engineering stages including elicitation, analysis and validation. This process model has been applied to our TRES System. In our proposed system, we combine prototype, scenarios and use cases in a single and comprehensive framework to avoid most of the shortcomings in other tools. Our system is an XML-based system for scenario-driven requirement engineering. Within the TRES system, scenarios are stories capture information about users and their tasks, including the context of use. In our TRES system, scenarios are stored in XML-based database and described using XML notation.

  • Construction inspection is a crucial stage that ensures that all contractual requirements of a construction project are verified. The construction inspection capabilities among state highway agencies have been greatly affected due to budget reduction. As a result, efficient inspection practices such as risk-based inspection are required to optimize the use of limited resources without compromising inspection quality. Automated prioritization of textual requirements according to their criticality would be extremely helpful since contractual requirements are typically presented in an unstructured natural language in voluminous text documents. The current study introduces a novel model for predicting the risk level of requirements using machine learning (ML) algorithms. The ML algorithms tested in this study included naïve Bayes, support vector machines, logistic regression, and random forest. The training data includes sequences of requirement texts which were labeled with risk levels (such as very low, low, medium, high, very high) using the fuzzy logic systems. The fuzzy model treats the three risk factors (severity, probability, detectability) as fuzzy input variables, and implements the fuzzy inference rules to determine the labels of requirements. The performance of the model was examined on labeled dataset created by fuzzy inference rules and three different membership functions. The developed requirement risk prediction model yielded a precision, recall, and f-score of 78.18%, 77.75%, and 75.82%, respectively. The proposed model is expected to provide construction inspectors with a means for the automated prioritization of voluminous requirements by their importance, thus help to maximize the effectiveness of inspection activities under resource constraints.

  • The vessels which are operated in ECA (Emission Control Area) after $1^{st}$ January 2016 shall be complied with revised NOx emission requirement (Tier III). Effective solutions for NOx emission requirement are SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction), EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) and Installation of LNG Dual Fuel Engine. This study is considered the design modification as per application of LNG Ready notation. In case of LNG Ready - S notation, the vessel shall be retrofitted the Main engine with Dual fuel engine and LNG Fuel system after delivery. On this paper, the entire process for design modification was explained to meet the requirement for LNG Ready notation.

  • The SINDA/FLUINT program is used as analysis tool. Thermal model and fluid model are applied for reliable results. By this analysis, the global requirements from System requirement review(SRR) is verified, and the detail requirement of each component is investigated. The results of this analysis is used to set up criterion for selecting proper components.

  • Recently, International Association Classification Societies (IACS) has adopted the Common Structural Rules (CSR) for Bulk Carriers and Tankers, which specifies the requirement associated with the ultimate strength of hull girder structure. The theoretical background and the results of verification study are neither well summarized nor released. Furthermore, the requirement is not a form of deterministic formula but a form of program in which source code is not disclosed. The reliability of the non-linear structural analysis program is verified through the comparison with the results of the analysis and the model test. Then, the reliability of the ultimate strength requirement in CSR is checked by comparing with the results of rigorous non-linear analysis.

  • This paper is on the analysis for the real-time software requirement. This method can be used for TNPN(Timed Numerical Peri Net) as a easy communication means with real-users. It is based on the RTTL(Real Time Temporal Logic) for correctness the system. TNPN is used to represent a behavior specification language, the validity of specified behaviors in TNPN is expressed in RTTL, and analyzed through the teachability graph. Thus, the requirement between user and system is satisfied Using the example of shared track, the validity of the property of real-time(safetiness, responsiveness, liveness, priority) is verified. Also this framework if given to connection with a object, natually.

  • Open Source Softwares(OSS) are increasingly deployed in several domains, many educational organization have tried to deploy the OSS LMS(Learning Management System). For deploying OSS LMS, customization for specific environment is critical requirement. In this paper, we implemented the supporting environment to integrate the Moodle and school information system for user and course management. It is the most important customization requirement for introducing the Moodle to school. Also, we implemented supporting environment for the most important requirement so that we verified the usability of our guideline. We applied our environment to verify the efficiency of customization process.
