철도 화물차량 차축용 비접촉식 오일실의 가속내구시험

  • Rail car axles are very important parts for safety of passengers and structural integrity of vehicles. The axles are supported by bearings. To seal grease lubricating the bearings of freight cars, a non-contact oil seal has been developed. The developed oil seal is composed of inner plate, outer plate and seal rubber. The friction between axle and housing with the developed oil seal is very low. The seals are designed for a minimum life expectancy of 800,000 kilometers service. In this study, an accelerated durability tests according to AAR Specification M-934-82 were carried out. Developed products satisfy the AAR Specifications.

A Study to Take Action for New Chinese Regulations about car Towing Device (토잉 디바이스 중국 신법규 대응 방안)

  • Purpose: Recently, the government of China has established new safety regulations for towing devices. The new Chinese regulation has more unfavorable conditions than the conditions of other countries. So the various measures have been reviewed to satisfy this regulation. Methods: The regulation conditions were compared through analysis of strain energy, and a method for improving the accuracy of analysis is suggested. In addition, the test method considering the tolerance is presented through tolerance analysis. This paper also explained importance of confirming the quality of products through a case of poor quality of Chinese products such as poor heat treatment. Result: We could know how strong Chinese regulations are stronger than other national laws and investigated which member receives a lot of strain energy. In order to cope with these Chinese regulations, we suggested improvement of analysis accuracy, test method through tolerance analysis, and heat treatment quality. Conclusion: This paper contributed to general counterplan of the strengthened new Chinese regulations for towing device.

  • In developing avionics systems, safety analysis and evaluation specified in SAE ARP4761 (Methods and Guidelines for Civil Aviation System and Equipment Safety Assessment Process) are carried out to prevent air accidents. Safety analysis requires knowledge of the abnormal state of the system, not its normal state, and its interrelationships with other standards. Therefore, a tool that automatically outputs data which proves compliance with safety certification standards is required. In this study,In this study, Schematized the safety analysis procedure of the specification and studied the method of applying the safety analysis CAD tools to individual procedure. As an example study, ARP4761 analysis was performed on the wheel brake system (WBS) of the ARP4761 appendix.

Structural Integrity Evaluation of Steam Generator Tube with Two Parallel Axial Through-Wall Cracks

  • It is commonly required that tubes with defects exceeding $40\%$ of wall thickness in depth should be plugged; however, this criterion is too conservative for some locations and for some types of defects. Many studies have been done with the aim of developing an alternative plugging criteria, and these studies have shown that steam generator tubes with a certain range of axial through-wall cracks could remain in service without any safety or reliability problems. However, these studies have been limited, thus far, to consideration of single cracked tubes, necessitating a study on multiple cracks, which are commonly found. A crack coalescence model applicable to steam generator tubes with two collinear axial through-wall cracks was proposed in the previous study. In this paper, the investigation is extended to the parallel axial cracks spaced in a circumferential direction, because parallel axial cracks are more frequently detected during in-service inspections than collinear axial cracks. Interaction effects between two parallel cracks are evaluated by performing elastic and elastic-plastic finite element analyses.

  • It is very difficult to measure an accurate thrust for the performance test of liquid rocket engine. Liquid rocket engine is attached to the propellant feed system, control valve and many other safety systems. Without considering these effects, thrust data measured from the firing test is not reliable and meaningless. In this research, the modified thrust measurement system, which includes both all these side effects is developed for the verification of low thrust liquid rocket engine performance. In addition, reliability appraisal technique is studied to secure the reliability of thrust measurement system.

  • The conventional factor of safety as used in geotechnical engineering does not reflect the degree of uncertainty of the relevant parameters. Then in the geotechnical engineering, there have been efforts to reflect the uncertainties of the geotechnical properties through probabilistic analysis. In this study, a practical method for calculation the second moment reliability index using the optimization tool of a spreadsheet software is introduced. And this methodology was proposed by Low, B. K.(1996). The method is based on the perspective of an ellipsoid that just touches the failure surface in the original space of the variables. The method is applied to vertical drains(PVD) and compared with th result of Monte Carlo Simulation method.

Reliability of column capacity design in shear

  • The capacity design of shear forces is one of the special demands of EC8 by which the ductile behavior of structures is implemented. The aim of capacity design is the formation of plastic hinges without shear failure of the elements. This is achieved by deriving the design shear forces from equilibrium conditions, assuming that plastic hinges, with their possible over-strengths, have been formed in the adjacent joints of the elements. In this equilibrium situation, the parameters (dimensions, material properties, axial forces etc) are random variables. Therefore, the capacity design of shear forces is associated with a probability of non-compliance (probability of failure). In the present study the probability of non-compliance of the shear capacity design in columns is calculated by assuming the basic variables as random variables. Parameters affecting this probability are examined and a modification of the capacity design is proposed, in order to achieve uniformity of the safety level.

  • MIT의 Auto-ID 센터가 주관하고 Wal-Mart, Gillette, Unilever, Pepsi 등 세계 50여개 유통 및 제조회사가 참여 한 RFID (radio frequency identification system) 공동연구 프로젝트는 "물건들의 인터넷" 을 구축하려고 노력하고 있다. RFID는 전파식별기술로서 전자태그(tag)를 상품에 부착하여, 상품이 주위 안테나를 인지하고 기존 IT 시스템과 실시간으로 정보교환 및 처리가 가능한 기술이다. 이 분야의 선두주자인 Wal-Mart는 134개의 주요 협력회사에게 2005년 1월부터 RFID 태그를 부착하여 납품하도록 요구하고 있다. 본 글에서는 RFID기술과 응용사례에 대하여 소개하고, RFID의 발전이 품질 및 고객안전성 향상에 어떻게 활용될 수 있는지 살펴보려고 한다.

  • This paper does with the design. implementation, and test of a CRCS for nuclear power plants. Although CRCS is still classified into non-safety class, much attention on its reliability issue has been given so far because of its importance for the stable operation of the reactor in the plant. In terms of technical aspects, our system adopts a full-duplex configuration to enhance reliability in contrast to the existing systems that are all simplex.

Evaluating Some Influential Factors on Consumers' Purchasing Decisions of Environment-friendly Agricultural Products (EAP) Using Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) (중요도-성취도 분석을 이용한 소비자의 친환경농산물 구매 결정요소 평가)

  • It is important to facilitate consumers' purchases of EAP (Environment-friendly Agricultural Products) for establishing the successful Environment-friendly Agriculture (EA). This study was conducted to evaluate the present state of some potentially influential factors on consumers' purchasing decisions of EAP using Importance- Performance Analysis (IPA). A total of 299 Gwangju citizens participated in the questionnaire survey during September and October, 2007. Urgent improvement efforts are needed for "reliability about the safety of the EAP", "reliability on EAP certification mark", "credibility of EAP producers", and "growth of EA". Respondents also seem to have positive attitudes to EA activation.
