Separated Control Signaling Protocol for WDM Optical Networks (파장 분할 다중화 방식을 사용하는 광 전송망을 위한 분리 제어 신호 방식)

  • In this paper, we propose a novel control signaling protocol that efficiently controls connection setup and increases the utilization of network resources. The proposed protocol, Separated Control Signaling Protocol(SCSP), separates bearer control from call control lot WDM optical networks. The main function of call control is to check the availability of network resources such as wavelengths and receivers at destination node. Bearer control is to reserve and assign wavelengths. The signaling architecture of this protocol consists of call controller and hearer controller The call controller handles call setup and release, activates the beater controller, and manages the status of call and bearer. The bearer controller reserves wavelengths, sets up bearer, tears down bearer. and notifies the status of beater to call controller. The state transition diagrams of each controller are designed. Using control messages and related primitives, the information flows for call setup and bearer setup, hearer teardown and call release, and reaction for setup failures are described to evaluate the performance. The simulation results show that the separated control signaling protocol is superior to conventional one in terms of call blocking probability and resource utilization.

  • In this paper, we propose a channel assignment scheme for reducing call blocking rate in a base station(BS) of DS-CDMA cellular systems. The proposed scheme can e applied to the case where the capacity of reverse radio link is enough, but not are the available traffic channels performing the digital modulation and demodulation functions between a mobile station and the base station. The proposed scheme takes advantage of the feature of soft handoff in which a mobile station keeps its communication link even if one of the two communication links is released. The scheme estimates the mean and variance of the received power level measured at the base station before assigning a traffic channel for a new call request. The BS makes decision based on the estimated balues whether the new call request will be accepted or not. If it is decided that the capacity of reverse radio link is enough, but all traffic channels are not available, then the BS increases the soft handoff parameter T_DROP to release the traffic channels of mobile stations loactedin soft handoff area. The BS assigns the released traffic channel to anew call or a handoff call. The performance of the proposed channel assignment scheme is evaluated by computer simulation. The results show that the call blocking rate for new calls and handoff calls is reduced.

  • We propose a soft QoS-based borrowing scheme for call admission control(CAC) in DVB-RCS(Digital Video Broadcast-Return Channel via Satellite). Some of the ongoing calls temporarily and fairly release bandwidths that can be used to accommodate a new call in an overloaded satellite network. The amount of bandwidth borrowed from each call is proportional to each user's critical bandwidth ratio, one of parameters for soft QoS mechanism. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme improves the system performance in terms of call blocking probability and bandwidth utilization.

Inability of Mate and Species Recognition by Male Asian Toads, Bufo gargarizans

  • In recent years, we frequently observed missmatched pairs between male Asian toads, Bufo gargarizans, and bullfrogs, Rana catesbeiana, at the toad breeding ponds, where scramble competition for mating occurred among the male toads. Thus, we performed two-choice experiments to investigate recognition ability of mates and species in male toads. The test males did not discriminate sexes, but the clasped stimulus males immediately produced release calls and stopped it while the clasped stimulus female did not. In addition, the test male toads did not discriminate reproductive state of females and even species. However, male toads chose larger individuals. The present results indicate that the main reason of missmatched amplexus by the male toads is due to 1) the lack of recognition cues of conspecifics, 2) the lack of communication tools like release calls, and 3) the larger size of bullfrogs than male toads themselves.

  • 정부는 시내전화 및 지능망서비스(080)에 대하여 2003년 상반기부터 번호이동성 서비스를 제공하도록 규정하고 있다. 번호이동성 서비스는 사업자간에는 경쟁을 활성화시키고 가입자에게는 이용의 편리함을 제공하기 위한 서비스로 서비스 유형으로는 서비스제공자 이동성(Service Provider Portability), 위치이동성(Location Portability) 및 서비스이동성(Service Portability)이 있다. 그리고 서비스 구현방식으로는 크게 교환기 기반 방식(Remote Call Forwarding)과 지능망방식(All Call Query, Query on Release)이 있다. 국내 번호이동성 서비스 적용 방식은 지능망 방식인 QoR 방식으로 결정되었으나 최근의 통신환경의 변화를 감안하여 서비스 도입 초기의 효율적인 서비스 도입을 위한 종합적인 재검토가 이루어지고 있다. 이에 따라 본 논문에서는 QoR 방식의 번호이동성 서비스를 위하여 교환기에서 필요한 필요 기능 및 기술적 문제점들을 교환계위별로 고찰하고자 한다.

  • In this papre we implemented the ISDN S-interface Card for a PABX that makes it possible to accommodate ISDN terminals. In order to implement this ISDN cand we first designed entire structure and functions of its hardware and software. And then based on this we implemented server and entity, inter-entity communication, ISDN protocols, and call processing interface for realizing ISDN interface functions. Finally we evaluated the performance of the implemented ISDN card by measuring the response time of call setup and release.

  • SIP는 UMTS Release 5 network에서 멀티미디어 세션을 설정하기 위해 3GPP에 의해 채택되었다. 본 논문에서는 차세대 이동통신시스템에서 SIP 기반의 멀티미디어 호 제어 절차를 제안하고자 한다. 이와 관련하여 UMTS Release 5 망 구조를 살펴보고, SIP를 기반으로 하는 차세대 이동통신시스템에서 멀티미디어 호 제어를 위한 IMS망 구조 및 추가 기능요소에 대해 기술한다. 또한, 멀티미디어 제어를 위한 호 처리 절차 중 가장 기본이 되는 Attach, PDP Context Activation, 서비스 등록, 멀티미디어 호 제어를 위한 세션 설정, 호 해제 과정 등에 대한 호 제어 절차를 설계한다.

  • Mobile number portability(MNP) means currently number portability among the 2G cellular phone in Korea and subscriber can change his mobile phone system operator without change his phone number. MNP system use QoR(Query on Release) method in call processing. We shows that the realization and performance of MNP system and the problems that is related with MNP system.
