  • This study attempt to explore how much characteristics of personal and institutional of staffs in shelter for teenage runaway influence to client's violence, and which factor of them are relative to client's violence. For this aims, we carried out a survey, survey subjects in shelter for teenage runaway participated in this research. T-test and variance analysis attempted to compare degree of violence experience of respondents by personal and institutional characteristics. According to result of analysis, age in the midst of personal characteristics is meaning difference and duty-time and type of shelter in the midst of institutional characteristics revealed meaning difference. Next, Multi-regression analysis tried to explore relative factor influencing on client's violence. The results, age in the midst of personal characteristics is relative with physical violence, duty-year in present institution is relative with etc harm. Also, duty-time per week of institutional characteristics is relative all with four type of violence. Type of shelter is relative with property harm, emotional violence and etc harm. Counseling time during duty is relative with physical violence. Above results provide basic data to find ways preventing client's violence to staffs in shelter for teenage runaway.

  • Background: Particulate matter (PM) is one of the leading causes of premature death worldwide. Previous studies in South Korea have applied a relative risk calculated from Western populations when estimating the disease burden attributable to PM. However, the relative risk of PM on health outcomes may not be the same across different countries or regions. Objectives: This study aimed to estimate the premature deaths and socioeconomic costs attributable to long-term exposure to PM in South Korea. We considered not only the difference in PM concentration between regions, but also the difference in relative risk. Methods: National monitoring data of PM concentrations was obtained, and missing values were imputed using the AERMOD model and linear regression model. As a surrogate for relative risk, hazard ratios (HRs) of PM for cardiovascular and respiratory mortality were estimated using the National Health Insurance Service-National Sample Cohort. The nation was divided into five areas (metropolitan, central, southern, south-eastern, and Gangwon-do Province regions). The number of PM attributable deaths in 2018 was calculated at the district level. The socioeconomic cost was derived by multiplying the number of deaths and the statistical value of life. Results: The average PM10 concentration for 2014~2018 was 45.2 ㎍/m3. The association between long-term exposure to PM10 and mortality was heterogeneous between areas. When applying area-specific HRs, 23,811 premature deaths from cardiovascular and respiratory disease in 2018 were attributable to PM10 (reference level 20 ㎍/m3). The corresponding socioeconomic cost was about 31 trillion won. These estimated values were higher than that when applying nationwide HRs. Conclusions: This study is the first research to estimate the premature mortality caused by long-term exposure to PM using relative risks derived from the national population. This study will help precisely identify the national and regional health burden attributed to PM and establish the priorities of air quality policy.

  • In this paper, a DC potential drop measurement system was used to find the position of the flaw on a simple thin plate. Four-point probe test was evaluated and used for this study. In the four-point probe test, the more distance between current pins provides the more measurable scope, the less voltage difference, and the more voltage difference rate. In the other hand, the more distance between voltage pins provides the less voltage difference and the less voltage difference rate. An optimized four-point probe was applied to measure the relation between voltage and the relative position of flaw to the probe. The Maxwell 21) simulator was used to analyze the electromagnetic field, and it showed that the analytical result was similar to the experimental result within 11.4% maximum error.

  • An attempt has been made in this study to evaluate an applicability of Relative Effective Porosity Model (REPM) as a method for estimating saturated hydraulic conductivity (K$_{s}$) for homogeneous coarse, medium, and fine sands. The saturated hydraulic conductivities obtained from REPM are converted into average linear velocities using Darcy's Law and compared with the results from experimental tracer tests for homogeneous coarse, medium, and fine sand layer. Two types of tracer tests analyses, analytical solution using CXTFIT and moment methods, are performed to obtain reasonable linear velocity range for each layer. For the coarse and medium sands, the converted average linear velocity from REPM is in the velocity range obtained from tracer tests. However, small difference between the results from REPM and tracer tests is found for the fine sands. These results show that REPM gives reasonable estimates of saturated hydraulic conductivity.y.

  • Allocation patterns of energy and mineral elements were investigated with phaseolus multiflorus grown in the environmental gradients. The result showed different energy allocation patterns according to relative light intensities and nutrients. The optimal switching time of energy allocation from vegetative to resproductive growth was delated as decreasing relative light intensity. The switch of the shift to reproduction was timed earlier in phosphorus treatment and delayed in nitrogen treatment. Analyzing the mineral elements to various organs, patterns of energy allocation were different from those of mineral allocation. There was no significant difference for allocation patterns in relative light intensity gradients. it was shown that n and p were distributed over the reproductive organs, k mainly in stems, ca in leaves and na in roots. mg was evenly distributed in each organs.

  • Because of the difference of the relative reactivity between two hydroxyl groups of the hydroquinone due to the steric hindrance of the substituent, many combinations of the substituent direction in the polyesters derived from asymmetrical diphenols such as monosubstituted hydroquinones was expected. It was studied how the mode of the direction affected the properties of the resulting polyesters in terms of the transition temperatures of the thermotropic polyesters prepared from terephthalic acid, 2,4-dichloroterephthalic acid, and phenylhydroquinone by the reaction using p-Toluenesulfonylchloride in pyridine. The direction was tried to control the relative reactivity by changing the reaction temperature and addition time of the hydroquinone, and by modifying it through an association of the hydroquinones with DMF.

  • Alcohol metabolizing activity of fermented sea tangle juice (FSYJ) using Lactobacillilus brevis BJ20 were evaluated by measuring relative alcohol dehydrogenease (ADH) and aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) activities. According to the results of MTI assay. the fermented sea tangle juice by Lactobacillilus brevis BJ20 appeared safe in the cytotocxity. The relative ADH activity of FSTJ showed 124% at 10 mg/mL, which increased with increasing concentration. The relative ALDH activity showed, however, insignificant difference (P>0.05) between concentrations of FSTJ up to 50 mg/mL. These results suggested that fermented sea tangle juice by L. brevis BJ20 could be used as a potential material for metabolizing alcohol.

  • A computational study is performed to clarify the characteristics of supersonic moist air jet issuing from a simple sonic nozzle. The effects of the initial supersaturation on the Mach disk diameter and location, the barrel shock wave and jet boundary structures are investigated in details. The axisymmetric, compressible, Navier-Stokes equations, coupled with droplet growth equation, are solved using a third-order MUSCL type TVD finite-difference scheme. It is found that the Mach disk diameter increases with an increase in relative humidity of moist air. while its location is not significantly dependent on the relative humidity. As the relative humidity increases, the barrel shock wave and jet boundary are more expanded due to the local static pressure rise of nonequilibrium condensation.

  • Air embolism can be a lethal complication of surgical procedures during which venous pressure at the site of surgery is sub-atmospheric or air is forced under pressure into a body cavity. To solve the problem, we developed the air detector using relative dielectric constant change, which is expected to be used broadly in industrial circles. We designed a detection circuit of sensing scheme. In experiments with a mock system, the proposed system showed a signal difference depending on the amount of air in the tygon tube of the mock system.
