  • In most shipyards, the measurement of 3-dimensional relative position of pipes should be connected in the block depends on the manual operation. It results a very tedious and inefficient procedure, thus the proper measurement system is needed to improve productivity and accuracy. This paper describes the development of pipe measurement system including system concepts, measuring procedures, system calibration, and its accuracy and productivity. And also, the possibility and things to be improved for application in shipyard are discussed in this paper.

이동 로봇의 상대적 위치 추정을 위한 직사각형 기반의 기하학적 방법 (Geometric Formulation of Rectangle Based Relative Localization of Mobile Robot)

  • A rectangle-based relative localization method is proposed for a mobile robot based on a novel geometric formulation. In an artificial environment where a mobile robot navigates, rectangular shapes are ubiquitous. When a scene rectangle is captured using a camera attached to a mobile robot, localization can be performed and described in the relative coordinates of the scene rectangle. Especially, our method works with a single image for a scene rectangle whose aspect ratio is not known. Moreover, a camera calibration is unnecessary with an assumption of the pinhole camera model. The proposed method is largely based on the theory of coupled line cameras (CLC), which provides a basis for efficient computation with analytic solutions and intuitive geometric interpretation. We introduce the fundamentals of CLC and describe the proposed method with some experimental results in simulation environment.

실내 미세먼지 측정을 위한 저가형 PM 센서의 실험실/현장 평가 및 보정 방법 (Laboratory/Field evaluation and calibration method of low-cost PM sensor for indoor PM2.5, PM10 measurement)

  • Recently, low-cost particulate matter (PM) sensors have been widely used in monitoring mass concentration. Maintaining the accuracy of the sensors is important and requires rigorous performance evaluation and calibration. In this study, two commercial low-cost PM sensors(LCS), Plantower PMS3003 and Plantower PMS7003, were evaluated in the laboratory and field with a reference-grade PM monitor (GRIMM 11-D). Laboratory evaluation was conducted with single/mixed particles of PSL (Poly Styrene Latex) in an acrylic chamber at 20℃ and relative humidity of 20%. Field evaluation was conducted inside a building of Yonsei University (Shinchon) from February 12 to March 31, 2022. In both evaluations, LCS measured values became different from reference measured values when the relative humidity was high or the outdoor air PM10/PM2.5 ratio was high. Based on the field evaluation, the LCS measured values were corrected through four different regression analysis models. As a result, the multivariate polynomial regression analysis model showed highest matching with the reference PM monitor (PM2.5 >0.9, PM10 >0.85). In this model, the PM10/PM2.5 ratio and relative humidity were chosen as independent variables.

The Assessment of Cross Calibration/Validation Accuracy for KOMPSAT-3 Using Landsat 8 and 6S

  • In this study, we performed cross calibration of KOMPSAT-3 AEISS imaging sensor with reference to normalized pixels in the Landsat 8 OLI scenes of homogenous ROI recorded by both sensors between January 2014 and December 2019 at the Libya 4 PICS. Cross calibration is using images from a stable and well-calibrated satellite sensor as references to harmonize measurements from other sensors and/or characterize other sensors. But cross calibration has two problems; RSR and temporal difference. The RSR of KOMPSAT-3 and Landsat 8 are similar at the blue and green bands. But the red and NIR bands have a large difference. So we calculate SBAF of each sensor. We compared the SBAF estimated from the TOA Radiance simulation with KOMPSAT-3 and Landsat 8, the results displayed a difference of about 2.07~2.92% and 0.96~1.21% in the VIS and NIR bands. Before SBAF, Reflectance and Radiance difference was 0.42~23.23%. Case of difference temporal, we simulated by 6S and Landsat 8 for alignment the same acquisition time. The SBAF-corrected cross calibration coefficients using KOMPSAT-3, 6S and simulated Landsat 8 compared to the initial cross calibration without correction demonstrated a percentage difference in the spectral bands of about 0.866~1.192%. KOMPSAT-3 maximum uncertainty was estimated at 3.26~3.89%; errors due to atmospheric condition minimized to less than 1% (via 6S); Maximum deviation of KOMPSAT-3 DN was less than 1%. As the result, the results affirm that SBAF and 6s simulation enhanced cross-calibration accuracy.

  • Camera calibration in machine vision is the process of determining the intrinsic cameara parameters and the three-dimensional (3D) position and orientation of the camera frame relative to a certain world coordinate system. On the other hand, Takagi-Sugeno-Kang (TSK) fuzzy system is a very popular fuzzy system and approximates any nonlinear function to arbitrary accuracy with only a small number of fuzzy rules. It demonstrates not only nonlinear behavior but also transparent structure. In this paper, we present a novel and simple technique for camera calibration for machine vision using TSK fuzzy model. The proposed method divides the world into some regions according to camera view and uses the clustered 3D geometric knowledge. TSK fuzzy system is employed to estimate the camera parameters by combining partial information into complete 3D information. The experiments are performed to verify the proposed camera calibration.

SPME에 기초한 VOC 및 주요 악취물질들의 상대적 검량특성에 대한 연구 (A Study of Relative Performance of SPME Method for the Analysis of VOC and Some Major Odorous Compounds)

  • In this study, the performance characteristics of solid phase microextraction (SPME) were investigated for three major odorous groups that consist of 10 individual compounds ([1] volatile organic compounds (VOC): benzene, toluene, p-xylene and styrene, [2] reduced sulfur compounds (RSC): hydrogen sulfide, methyl mercaptan, dimethylsulfide (DMS), dimethyldisulfide (DMDS), and carbon disulfide, and [3] amine: trimethylamine (TMA)). For the purpose of a comparative analysis, two types of SPME fiber ([1] polidimethylsiloxane/divinilbenzene (P/D) and [2] $Carboxen^{TM}$/polidimethylsiloxane (C/P)) were test ε d against each other for a series of standards prepared at different concentration levels (100, 200, and 500 ppb). To compare the analytical performance of each fiber, all standards were analyzed for the acquisition of calibration data sets for each compound. The results of P/D fiber generally showed that its calibration slope increased as a function of molecular weight across different VOCs; however, those of C/P fiber showed a fairly reversed trend. Besides, we confirmed that the application of SPME is limited to many sulfur compounds; only two compounds (DMS and DMDS) are sensitive enough to draw calibration results out of SPME. The calibration data for RSC show generally enhanced slop values for C/P relative to P/D fiber. However, in the case of TMA, we were not able to find a notable difference in their performance.

Uniform large scale cohesionless soil sample preparation using mobile pluviator

  • This research work deals with the development of air pluviation method for preparing uniform sand specimens for conducting large scale laboratory testing. Simulating real field conditions and to get reliable results, air pluviation method is highly desirable. This paper presents a special technique called air pluviation or sand raining technique for achieving uniform relative density. The apparatus is accompanied by a hopper, shutters with different orifice sizes and numbers and set of sieves. Before using this apparatus, calibration curves are drawn for relative density against different height of fall (H) and shutter sizes. From these calibration curves, corresponding to the desired relative density of 60%, the shutter size of 13mm and height of fall of 457.2 mm, are selected and maintained throughout the pluviation process. The density obtained from the mobile pluviator is then verified using the Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) test where the soil is poured in the box using defined shutter size and fall height. The results obtained from the DCP test are averaged as 60±0.5 which was desirable. The mobile pluviator used in this research is also capable of obtaining relative densities up to 90%. The instrument is validated using experimental and numerical approach. In numerical study, Plaxis 3D software is used in which the soil mass is defined by 10-Node tetrahedral elements and 6-Node plate is used to simulate plate behavior in the validation phase. The results obtained from numerical approach were compared with that of experimental one which showed very close correlation.

통합 칼리브레이션 가중치 산출 비교연구 (Integrated calibration weighting using complex auxiliary information)

  • 이단추출은 개체와 집락 단수준별 모집단 특성을 함께 추정할 수 있게 해준다. 단위수준별 보조정보가 함께 주어질 때, 단위수준별 정보 및 가중치 구성을 통합적으로 고려한 칼리브레이션 가중치를 산출한다면 단위수준별 특성은 물론 수준간의 다변량적 특성도 적절히 반영할 수 있을 것이다. 본 연구는 Estevao와 Särndal (2006)과 Kim (2019)이 고려한 통합 칼리브레이션 가중치 산출 방법에 대해 살펴보았다. 간단한 모의실험을 통해 기존의 통합 칼리브레이션 가중치 산출방법의 효율성을 비교하였다. 이 중 복합보조정보를 개체화한 후 단일단계의 칼리브리이션 조정으로 가중치를 산출하되 집락가중치가 집락 내 개체가중치 평균이 되도록 정의하는 방법과 단위수준별 보조정보를 이용한 수준별 칼리브레이션 조정을 상호 반복적으로 수행하되 집락가중치가 집락 내 개체가중도치 평균이 되도록 하는 방법이 조정전 가중치의 변동량을 크게 늘리지 않고도 수준간 다변량적 특성을 잘 반영할 수 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 집락과 개체의 상호간 보조정보에 대한 총합추정의 적합도 측면에서 매우 양호하였고, 칼리브레이션 조정에 포함되지 않는 조사특성들의 총합추정에 대한 상대편향 및 상대 평균 제곱근 오차가 작게 나타났다.

A Volume Reconstruction Algorithm and a Coordinate Calibration of an X-ray Three Dimensional Imaging System

  • Inspection and shape measurement of three-dimensional objects are widely needed in industries for quality monitoring and control. In this paper, we propose a three dimensional volume reconstruction method, which is an iterative method and as uniform and simulated algebraic reconstruction technique (USART). In this method, two or more x-ray images projected from different views are needed, and also the geometry of the imaging system need to be a priori identified well. That is to say, the relative locations between the x-ray source, imaging plane and the object should be determined exactly by calibration. To achieve this, we propose a series of coordinate calibration methods of the x-ray imaging system using grid pattern images.   • We report the number of calibration and test for acoustic field which were conducted in KRISS between the year of 1990 and 1999. The items contain sound level meter and calibrator for calibration and sound absorption coefficient, transmission loss, sound pressure level of siren, sound pressure level and power of acoustic instrument and relative accessories for test. The data show that the number of them have been increased continuously.
