  • This paper proposes a new registry model for systematically referencing standards in e-Business field. We have many systems that provide standards and additional information. However, there are several problems such as inefficient standard information, dependency on a standard type, high standard information acquisition cost, no relations between standard information, and so on. In this paper, a new registry model and its prototype implementation are described. The proposed model is defined based on ISO/IEC 11179-Metadata registries, which is one of the international standards for interoperability between data. The proposed model provides an integrated- systematic standard information support, and also considers technology stack and business processes for e-Business systems. This paper develops a prototype for the proposed model and implementation result. Finally, to show the contribution of our proposal, this paper shows the comparative evaluation between previous systems and our proposal with various comparative items.

  • This paper proposes a search system using the topic maps that it extends XMDR into Knowledge based XMDR for solving of the problems of the heterogeneity of distributed data on a network and integrate data by an efficient way. The proposed system combined Topic Maps and the extended metadata registry effectively. The Topic Maps represent related knowledge and reasoning relationship by associations of topic. And the extended metadata registry standards and manages the metadata of the local systems through registration and certification on the distributed environment. We also proposed a meta layer, include the meta topic and meta association to achieve semantic classification grouping of topics and to define relationship between Topic Maps and extended metadata registry.

  • The Web Services infrastructure is a distributed computing environment for service-sharing. Mechanisms for Web services Discovery proposed so far have assumed a centralized and peer-to-peer (P2P) registry. A discovery service with centralized architecture, such as UDDI, restricts the scalability of this environment, induces performance bottleneck and may result in single points of failure. A discovery service with P2P architecture enables a scalable and an efficient ubiquities web service discovery service that needs to be run in self-organized fashions. In this paper, we propose an autonomic -interleaving Registry Overlay Network (RgON) that enables web-services' providers/consumers to publish/discover services' advertisements, WSDL documents. The RgON, doubtless empowers consumers to discover web services associated with these advertisements within constant D logical hops over constant K physical hops with reasonable storage and bandwidth utilization as shown through simulation.

  • Cancer registries have fundamental roles in cancer surveillance, research, and health services planning, monitoring and evaluation. Many are now assuming a broader role by contributing data for health-service management, alongside data inputs from other registries and administrative data sets. These data are being integrated into de-identified databases using privacy-protecting data linkage practices. Structured pathology reporting is increasing registry access to staging and other prognostic descriptors. Registry directions need to vary, depending on local need, barriers and opportunities. Flexibility and adaptability will be essential to optimize registry contributions to cancer control.

  • In India, among males, leukemia rates vary across the country. The present unmatched hospital-based case-control study conducted at Tata Memorial Hospital included subjects registered between the years 1997-99. There were 246 leukemia cases and 1,383 normal controls. Data on demographics, lifestyle, diet and occupation history were recorded. Cigarette (OR=2.1) and bidi smoking (OR=3.4) showed excess risk for leukemia. Odds ratios were 3.9 for fish-eaters, 0.40 for chilli eaters, 1.5 for milk drinkers and 0.60 for coffee drinkers, compared to non-drinkers/eaters. However, neither exposure to use of pesticides nor cotton dust showed any excess risk for leukemia.

  • Objective: To estimate the incidence and mortality rates for pancreatic cancer in China. Methods: After checking and reviewing the cancer registry data in 2009 from 72 cancer registry centers, we divided cancer registry areas into urban and rural areas. Incidence/mortality rates, age-specific incidence/mortality rates, age-standardized incidence/mortality rates, proportions, and cumulative incidence/mortality rates for pancreatic cancer were calculated. Results: The total number of newly diagnosed pancreatic cancer cases and deaths in 2009 were 6,220 and 5,650, respectively. The crude incidence rate in all cancer registry areas was 7.28/100,000 (males 8.24, females 6.29). The age-standardized incidence rate by Chinese standard population (ASR) was 3.35/100,000, with ranking at 7th among all cancers. Pancreatic cancer incidence rate was 8.19/100,000 in urban areas whereas it was 5.41/100 000 in rural areas. Cancer mortality rate in all cancer registry areas was 6.61/100,000 (males 7.45; females 5.75), with ranking at 6th among all cancers, and 7.42/100 000 in urban but 4.94/100000 in rural areas. Conclusions: Pancreatic cancer incidence and mortality rates have shown a gradual increase in China. Owing to the difficulty of early diagnosis, identification of high-risk population and modification of risk factors are important to reduce the burden of pancreatic cancer.

  • Objectives and Background : Aims of this studies are to collect and analyze the lawful restriction against cancer registration and to suggest the model promoting the cancer registry. Materials and Methods : Total 16 countries, the members of OECD, including the U.S. are evaluated. the status of cancer registration of the evaluated countries are analyzed. The legislated laws, protect the individual's information, of the evaluated countries are analyzed. The cases any registries were impaired with the law to protect privacy are searched and analyzed. Results : All of the evaluated countries have some kinds of privacy protecting laws. For cancer registration, 11 of 16 countries implement some lawful authorities. Some of countries have experienced restriction of registration by the law of protecting individual's health data. All countries have performed cancer registry and 6 of 16 countries have nearly 100% population-based cancer registration. Conclusions : The cancer registry has to be the national effort. The informed consent of the data subjects and the permission of any special institutes are the difference to perform the registration. So, it is necessary to legislate any law supporting the cancer registration and establish any independent institutes to protect the individual's health data and support the cancer registry.

  • Background: Tongue cancer is one of the leading sites of cancer in our population. Aim: To evaluate the socio-demographic profiles and stages at diagnosis of oral tongue (OT) and base of tongue (BT) cancers, and identify any possible variations in characteristics. Materials and Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on tongue cancer cases, divided into OT and BT, registered at the hospital cancer registry of North-East India during January 2010 to May 2013. Cases were analyzed for age, gender, residential status and different levels of education for patients, the stage at diagnosis and presence of distant metastasis. Results: A total of 1,113 cases of tongue cancers were registered, 846(76.1%) of BT and 267(23.9%) of OT. While 33.9% of BT cancer patients were above 65 years of age, the figure for OT cancers was 18.4%, stages III and IV accounting for 90.8% and 77%, respectively. The relative risk for distant metastasis in OT cancers was 3.3 (95% CI 1.08-10.1, p=0.03). Conclusions: In the subsites of tongue cancers in our population, the majority arose from the base of tongue, these tending to occur in older individuals and presenting at late stage.
