  • Bilateral posterior communicating (pComm) artery aneurysms represent only 2% of mirror intracranial aneurysms. Usually, these are surgically approached through bilateral craniotomies for clipping. We present the case of a 50-year-old female presenting with headache and horizontal diplopia. Neurological examination revealed a left oculomotor palsy, with no other neurological deficits. Imaging studies revealed bilateral aneurysmatic lesions in both internal carotid arteries (ICA). A conventional left pterional approach was planned in order to treat the symptomatic aneurysm, and, if deemed feasible, a contralateral clipping through the same approach. The procedure was performed in a hybrid operating room (HOR), performing an intraoperative digital subtraction angiography (DSA) and roadmapping assistance during dissection and clipping. Transoperatively, a post-fixed optic chiasm was identified, with a wide interoptic space, which allowed us to perform the contralateral clipping through a unilateral approach. This technique for clipping bilateral pComm aneurysms can be performed when the proper anatomical features are met.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the performance characteristics and laws of the symbol mark design of representative regional history museums in China, as well as the preferences of Chinese audiences for the symbol marks of different types of Chinese regional history museums. First, the performance theme, performance type, and type performance tendency of symbol mark modeling of the regional history museums among the top 100 museums in China are analyzed. Second, design laws based on the interrelationship of performance theme types and design performance types are explored. Finally, the questionnaire survey is carried out to explore preference from the aspects of attention, readability, closeness, originality, aesthetics and comprehensiveness. According to the results, the theme of regional history is the most in terms of themes. As for the modeling performance types, the concrete type and the visualization of Chinese character are the most. According to the content characteristics of different performance types, the following model characteristics are formed: expressing the theme of regional history, architecture, and regional natural ecological environment through the concrete type, expressing the concept through the abstract type, and expressing the concept and implying some building features through the geometric abstract figure. The three forms of the literal type, the concrete type expressing architecture, regional history, and regional natural ecological environment theme content, and the abstract type expressing concept are combined with each other, and expressed through the visualization of character, the mixture of abstract and literal type, the mixture of concrete and abstract type, and the mixture of concrete and abstract literal type in the mixture type. According to the survey results, Chinese audiences have higher preference for the concrete type in the symbol mark performance type and the regional historical theme in the performance content.

  • This paper presents a new image retrieval method that is based on color space and block region information. The color space information of images can be obtained by color binary set, and the block region information can be obtained by regional segmentation and feature. The candidate images are decided by comparing with color features and its binary set of query image and image feature database for retrieval. Particularly, it is possible that the retrieval using similarity-measurements has the weights of color spatial distribution arid its objective block region features. This retrieval method using color spatial and block region features is shown with the effectiveness on the result of implementation on image database with 6,000 images.

  • Koji is steamed rice that has had koji-kin, or koji mold spores, cultivated onto it. The isolation, culture, and microscopic examination of molds in the koji require the use of the selective media and special microscopic slide techniques. If simple wet mount slides of molds were attempted, it became apparent that wet mount slides made from mold colonies usually don't reveal the arrangement of spores that is so necessary in identification. The process of merely transferring hyphae to a slide breaks up the hyphae and sporangiophores in such a way that identification becomes very difficult. The slide culture method is superior to wet mounts in that the hyphae, sporangiophores, and spores remain more or less intact when transferred. The procedure that will be used to produce a mold culture on a slide that can be observed directly on the slide. We investigated the contamination rate of penicillium spp. on the 21 kinds of koji distributed at Korea. The contamination rate of Penicillium spp. were not detected at 21 products by slide culture method. These results will be used to reestablish a mold determination of koji and food in Food Additives Code.

  • This study analyzed the urban structure of Jinju city where urban doughnut phenomena, development of new town at suburban zone and establishment of innovation city appear. The sphere of this study was set limit to Jinju's dong area due to taking the limitation of data. Multivariate analysis was done by using 24 variables to classify into seven clusters(CBD, Industrial Area, Residential Area etc). We studied regional condition and problems at the relation between analyzed regional features of this study and development principles at the upper planning. Jinju city needs urban redevelopment, reconstruction works and redevelopment promotion project for urban outworn zone in view of the regional conditions to innovate outdated city image and restore western Gyeongnam as a central city and also they should promote innovative city that is progressing now and construction of new town that is linked with Sangpyeong industrial complex removal as well as the whole Chojang-dong zone. In conclusion, this study will help to understand regional phenomenon like regional development project and urban management.

  • Coworking spaces have been increasingly considered as a way of building an innovative entrepreneurship ecosystem and facilitating population inflow. This paper aims at identifying the concept and characteristics of coworking spaces and examining these various types in a regional context. Coworking spaces located or planned in small and medium-sized cities and rural areas in Japan and Korea are empirically investigated. Through the case study, this study provides implications for a model of coworking spaces being a creative community in a region. Specifically, it is necessary to have distinctive features only for the regional context-based coworking spaces. Moreover, this new spaces should act as a multi-functional, convergent space and a venue for regional innovation. In a fast-changing work environment such as telework, the region-based coworking spaces can be reconsidered as the place that provides an alternative work, play, learn, and rest platform. Creative people hoping for new work and lifestyle may flow into the region through this intermediator, and thus foster the interplay between the creative community and regional environment.

  • This study considers an approach for subregional fisheries organization in Northeast Asia. The fishery resources in the Northeast Asian waters surrounding Korea are among the most productive in the world because of their extremely high biological productivity and the natural features of the sea. However, the fishery resources of the region have long been subject to heavy fishing pressures, and many stocks are now believed to be seriously depleted or even in danger of extinction because of overfishing. To move to a run sustainable fishery in Northeast Asia waters area, cooperative fisheries management between Korea, China and Japan for common resource is probably necessary. Cooperative fisheries management is likely to be more effective in fishery resources management than individual fisheries management by countries. The effects of fisheries management by regional cooperation can be divided into resource management and economical performance. Cooperative fisheries management as RFO will bring satisfactory results. Currently these jurisdictional extensions and resulting disputes over maritime space and resources were thrust upon an already transitional and unstable political environment. However, They have to have a strategic approach for RFO establishment step by step. Cooperative fisheries management using the RFO can mitigate these disputes, and cooperative bilateral fisheries arrangements have been proliferating over the past 10 years and may provide the basis for possible trust-building multilateral agreements.

  • The main goal of this article is to validate a methodological process in Actran MSC Software, that is based on the Finite Element Method, to evaluate the comfort in the cabin of a regional aircraft and to study the noise and vibrations reduction through the fuselage by the use of innovative materials. In the preliminary work phase, the CAD model of a fuselage section was created representing the typical features and dimensions of an airplane for regional flights. Subsequently, this model has been imported in Actran and the Sound Pressure Level (SPL) inside the cabin has been analyzed; moreover, the noise reduction through the fuselage has been evaluated. An important investigation and data collection has been carried out for the study of the aircraft cabin to make it as close as possible to a real problem, both in geometry and in materials. The mesh of the structure has been built from the CAD model and has been simplified in order to reduce the number of degrees of freedom. Finally, different fuselage configurations in terms of materials are compared: in particular, aluminum, composite and sandwich material with composite skins and poroelastic core are considered.

  • Several fine particle-related policies in Northeast United States were investigated in support of the execution of special measures to improve air quality of Seoul Metropolitan Area (SMA). The definition of particulate matter (PM) in the Clean Air Act (CAA), components and procedures of Regional Haze Rule (RHR), and Air Quality Management (AQM) were reviewed. Several State Implementation Plans (SIPs) were also reviewed as the way to attain required air quality under the Clean Air Act. $PM_{2.5}$ attainment SIP of Maryland, 8-hr Ozone attainment SIP of New Jersey, and Regional Haze Rule attainment SIP of MANE-VU were analyzed in detail as case studies. We realized that "Special Measures for Air Quality Improvement in the Seoul Metropolitan Area" has many similarities with its US counterparts in terms of purpose, components, procedures, and implementation methods. US policies, however, have more advanced features, such as standardized procedures and methods, transparent guidelines, and stable relationship among federal/state/local governments and stakeholders, which would be helpful to improve air quality in SMA.

  • Lockheed Martin has integrated and installed numerous AIS systems around the world as part of several VTS installation contracts and technology demonstrations for customers. Each of these systems incorporates specific customer requirements addressing differing objectives. This paper describes the capabilities and features of Lockheed Martin's current implementation of the Universal AIS system, and the experiences Lockheed Martin has had with earlier AIS and ADS (automated dependent surveillance) system installations. Specific examples are provided for an amphibious landing exercise with the US Army; installations at a Middle-East Oil port; technology demonstrations in New York Harbor, USA; river systems in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA; and coastal applications in the Gulf of Suez. The paper closes a brief overview of the most recent activity, the Turkish Straits VTMIS project that requires Universal AIS installations. The evolution of the technology and lessons learned will be discussed in the context of these examples. The perspective will be on Lockheed Martin's experience working with different customers to integrate AIS technology into a larger VTS or Port Information System. It will also discuss, from the practical side, how AIS information is used by a variety of maritime organizations with differing needs and information objectives.
