A Study on Effects of Service Quality of Local Culture Art Service Quality on Effect and Customer Satisfaction (지역문화예술서비스품질이 경제적·문화적 효과와 고객만족에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • There has been a steady increase in cultural arts recently, and the need for "regional culture and arts" has been raised as local residents have been making efforts to increase income and develop local areas for regional development. Therefore, this study was intended to establish empirically the effects of local cultural and arts service quality on performance effects and customer satisfaction. Research shows that it affects economic and social and cultural effects as a service quality dimension, and performance effects affect customer satisfaction and intention to reuse them. However, research between customers and employees showed some differences. Through this research, we want to identify what important service quality factors are to satisfy the customers and employees who are watching the performance arts, understand the level of awareness of the effects of the performance, and provide an opportunity to enhance customer satisfaction with the audience and staff.

Experimental Chemical Treatments for the Control of Dinoflagellate Cochlodinium polykrikoides in the Land-based Culture of Olive Flounder Paralichthys olivaceus (넙치 육상수조 양식에 있어 편조류 Cochlodinium polykrikoides의 구제를 위한 화학적 처리)

  • When Cochlodinium polykrikoides came into the culture tanks through influent cultivated water during the red tides, hundred thousands of commercial flounders were concomitantly killed and many culturists suffered from a great deal of financial loss in the east coast of Korea. It is charactrized by high sinking rate after sunset and the formatino of clump which results in oxygen deficiency by its respiration at tank bottom under condition. We investigated the efficacy of hydrogen peroxide and chlorine dioxide, known to form radicals, for extermination of red tide organism C. polykrikoides. When C. polykrikoides seawater with a density of 6,000 cells/$m\ell$ was treated with 14, 28 and $42mg/\ell$ of hydrogen peroxide, its survival rate was markedly decreased to 9.8, 0.8 and 0.3% respectively immediately after 6 hours of treatments whereas when it was treated with 1.5, 2.1 and $3.0mg/\ell$ chlorine dioxide, its survival rate showed 87.7, 81.3 and 80.1 and 80.1% respectively at the same treatment time. Hydrogen peroxide was the effective agent since it has scarcely injured the cultured olive flounder when exposed to the tested concentration range of $14~28mg/\ell$ with the extermination of almost3 C. polykrikoides during the experimental period of 5 days and has shown the oxygen increase of approximately $1.23mg/\ell$ 2 hours immediately after the flounder by C. polykrikoides in the land-based culture tank is assumed to be not by the toxicity of itself but by oxygen dificiency from the rapid respiration of dinoflagellate clump sunken to the tank bottom.

A study on textile design for infant and children's clothes with the motive of Jeju natural resource persimmon (제주 천연자원 감을 모티브로 한 유·아동복 텍스타일 디자인 연구)

  • The natural resources of Jeju are recognized as the new regional image of that clean island. Reflecting these trends, this study is initiated to develop a textile design with the motive of persimmon, a natural resource of Jeju, and to apply it to infant's and children's clothes. Its purpose is to highlight the image of persimmon, a traditional dye, as a regional signature for Jeju. Product development procedure included, understanding the use of persimmon for fashion products, analyzing Infants' and Children's designer collections over the last three seasons (focused on 2014S/S, 2015S/S, and 2016S/S), and surveying the Children's Clothes market for persimmon dyeing in Jeju. The conclusion was that, the natural resources of Jeju are highly valuable, and should be applied to textile design and apparel products for children. Utilizing Jeju persimmon was actively studied, but, the market for the Jeju persimmon natural - dyeing products is extremely limited. Moreover, the apparel products for infants and children represent old-fashioned styles, despite their higher prices. Therefore, using the formative characteristics of persimmon for each theme was suggested for development of patterns for textile design. Pattern designs were expressed using textured textile screen-printing, embroidery and $appliqu{\acute{e}}$ for infants' and children's clothes. In this study, a total of 10 items were prepared as apparel products for infants and children. All items were designed considering mix-and-match, potential, with each other or with regular mass-market products. These results are expected to contribute to highlighting the unique image of Jeju and to help promote fashion culture products.

Southeast Asian Studies: Insiders and Outsiders, or is Culture and Identity a Way Forward?

  • Debates continue to multiply on the definition and rationale of Southeast Asia as a region and on the utility of the multidisciplinary field of area studies. However, we have now entered a post-colonialist, post-Orientalist, post-structuralist stage of reflection and re-orientation in the era of globalization, and a strong tendency on the part of insiders to pose these issues in terms of an insider-outsider dichotomy. On the one hand, the study of Southeast Asia for researchers from outside the region has become fragmented. This is for very obvious reasons: the strengthening and re-energizing of academic disciplines, the increasing popularity of other non-regional multidisciplinary studies, and the entry of globalization studies into our field of vision. On the other hand, how has the local Southeast Asian academy addressed these major issues of change in conceptualizing the region from an insider perspective? In filling in and giving substance to an outsider, primarily Euro-American-Australian-centric definition and vision of Southeast Asia, some local academics have recently been inclined to construct Southeast Asia in terms of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN): a nation-state-based, institutional definition of what a region comprises. Others continue to operate at a localized level exploring small-scale communities and territories, while a modest number focus on sub-regional issues (the Malay-Indonesian world or the Mekong sub-region are examples). However, further reflections suggest that the Euro-American-Australian hegemony is a thing of the past and the ground has shifted to a much greater emphasis on academic activity within the region. Southeast Asia-based academics are also finding it much more important to network within the region and to capture, understand, and analyze what Chinese, Japanese, and Korean scholars are saying about Southeast Asia, its present circumstances and trajectories, and their increasingly close involvement with the region within a greater Asia-Pacific rim. The paper argues that the insider-outsider dichotomy requires considerable qualification. It is a neat way of dramatizing the aftermath of colonialism and Orientalism and of reasserting local priorities, agendas, and interests. But there might be a way forward in resolving at least some of these apparently opposed positions with recourse to the concepts of culture and identity in order to address Southeast Asian diversities, movements, encounters, hybridization, and hierarchies.

  • In these days, each local administrative organizations and residents have made constant efforts to achieve unique regional identity and its publicity as a strategy for 'Place Marketing'. Developing a proper symbolic regional theme for the area can bring the economic and cultural vitality to the local areas. The purpose of this study is to investigate and to analyze the contents of theme and expression methods of local theme museums of Japan for last 20years. The types of regional themes appeared as 'Physical' part like topography/ecology, relics and manmade facilities, and 'Social & Cultural' part like industry, culture, people or historic events. The cases of expression methods such as Representation, Metaphor, Symbol and Metonymy could be also found. There was an increasing tendency applying and expressing the symbolic regional theme more impressively as the time passed.

  • This study look into a role change and geographical inertia of the central place. The place is selected and progressed as the center which is the joining of physical condition and social situation of the region. The central place is the role change according to social change but it has geographical inertia as the central place. The result is as follows. Firstly, the role of regional center is changed. This sample region is the center of a national defense and administration and traffic in Three-Country period. But the role of the national defense is disappeared with the unity of the three countries. A traffic center facility was lost because of traffic axis changed from the east-west line to the north-south line when Ko-Ryo period. A facility loss as a traffic center leads to diminish the administration function and the movement of the regional center within that area. Secondary. the new regional center function was maintained by the joining of an outside and inside peoples. It maintained the geographical inertia by Confucianism culture instead of administration function. Thirdly, it had geographical location movement within the area.

  • A change of social environment based on digital information technology has decreased the disparity of regional cultures by exchanging & consuming contemporary information & culture freely. After 1995, when local autonomous entity system was established, the local autonomous bodies competed with one another in developing the regional society with its' own resources, human powers & cultures, independently of the central government. In the competitive system, a local government is getting itself distinguished from each other in the cultural & regional properties, and brands the region with its unique events, public relations(PR) & development strategies. The environment for advertisement has changed rapidly under the spontaneous system of regional brand and competition, which means the changes of creative standard in the field of advertisement. An in-depth advertising creativity with induced impression & trust is one of the most important aspects of the advertisement to become persuasive to the public effectively. This demand has had public advertisements changed rapidly and the change of regional system's advertisements has started already. This study focuses on analyzing the status of Local Government's commercials on TV, and presenting an effective method for improving it.

A Direction in the Making a Better City of a Medium Scale City, Jinju (중소도시의 지역만들기 방향 -진주시를 사례로-)

  • It was announced that 'making a better wellbeing city program' is a new core quality of life policy of Roh Mu-Hyun government. The policy is comprehended as a sign of regional policy changeover, that give empathize to human ware oriented governance from hard ware oriented physical elements input policies. To be effective, It is important to introduce a institutionalization of dynamic social relations in regional community such as participations of civil society. In the case study of Jinju city, a medium scale city located in southern part of Korean peninsular, Invitation of the innovation city, initiated by the alliance of city government and growth coalition, was making progress. Through alliance of labor unions and citizen associations, the public management of public bus companies were succeeded. But the restoration of historical places were suffered a setback by conflicts of interests with development profits. In these contexts, it is insisted that the core of 'making a better welling being city program is introducing of human ware oriented regional policies, such as institutionalization of citizen associations participation.

  • Map of geographical names can give us information for understanding of region because geographical name reflects regional perception of human. This study aimed to make an web-based map by constructing database of geographical names. Main contents carried out research on methods for classification of geographical names, database construction, and mapping on the website. Geographical name classified into four categories of the physical geography, culture and historical geography, economic geography, and the other and also, 18 sub-categories by classification criteria. Geographical name designed to input by collecting geographical names from paper-based maps and vernacular place names only known to the local region. Fields of database consisted of address, coordinates, geographical name(hangeul, hanja), classification, explanation, photographs. Map of geographical names can be represented with regional geographical information. The result of research is expected to offer information for distribution of geographical names as well as regional interpretation.

  • As creative city is increasingly considered as a paradigm of urban development, it was explored that some of major concepts consisting of creative city such as creativity, creative class and creative industry have an implication. Those concepts reveal a diverse meaning rather than universal one in the application depending on regions and countries across the world. This study tried to grasp the meaning of creative city in the northern region of Gyeongbook where the concept itself was not apparently distinctive. The result is that the inherent meaning of creative city was expanded to culture and athletic fields, though it was originated from taking advantage of nature, agricultural products in the region, and cultural and historical based tourism. On the other hand, the role of regional authority was examined to explore how the concept of creative city is realized in practice. There are some differences among the local authorities in the aspect of leadership. network system within the region, and social network with outside.
