Robust Time Delay Compensation for DTC-Based Induction Machine Systems via Extended State Observers

  • This paper presents an extended state observer (ESO) based direct torque control (DTC) for use in induction motor systems to handle the issues of time delays, load torque disturbances and parameter uncertainties. Direct torque control offers an excellent torque response and it does not require a proportion integration (PI) controller in the current loop. However, a PI controller is still adopted in the outer speed loop to generate the torque reference value, which is a slow method. An ESO based compound control scheme is proposed to improve the response rate and accuracy of the torque reference signal, especially when load torque is injected. In addition, the time delay problem is analyzed and compensated for in this paper to reduce torque ripples. The proposed disturbance compensation technique based direct control scheme is shown to have good performance both in the transient and stable states via simulations and experimental results.

  • In this paper, adaprive control and sliding mode control are combined to implement the proposed adaptive sliding mode control(ASMC) algorithm which is new approach to the control of industrial robot manipulator with external disturbances and parameter uncertainties. Adaptive control algorithm is designed by using the principle of the model reference adaptive control method based upon the hyperstability theory. The contribution of this method is that the parameters of the sliding surface are replaced by time varying parameters whose are calculated by an adaptation algorithm, which forces the errors to follow the behavior of a reference error model. Simulation results show that the proposed method not only improves the performance of the system but also reduces the chattering problem of sliding mode control. Consequently, it is expected that the new adaptive sliding mode control algorithm will be suited for various practical applications.

  • In this paper, a new scheme of implicit MRAC is presented for single input single output discrete system. The MRAC can be applied to the nonminimum phase system, too. They have simple structure because the parameters of the controller are estimated directly by changing the plant output equation properly. In this scheme, the observation process is well seperated from the adaptation process, so the adaptation algorithm is derived from the exponentially weighted least square method which has fast convergence characteristics and can deal with the time varying plant. The consistency of the estimated parameter is proved. And it is also proved the whole system has the stabilizing property. The effectiveness of the algorithm and the structure is illustrated by the computer simulation of the model reference adaptive control for a third order plant. It is proposed how to select the selectable parameters in the adaptive control system from the simulation results.

  • In this study, the algorithm of optimal parameter inference is proposed. At this inferring method, we tried to acquire the follow-up to reference pattern through comparing the plant output pattern with random reference pattern. As an inference method, the fuzzy theory was applied and the proposed algorithm was proved by computer simulation.

  • This paper is a case study of reliability assessment with field warranty data of Clutch Master Cylinder (CMC) in hydraulic clutch system. We estimate lifetime distribution using field warranty data which contain much useful information for understanding reliability of the system in the real-world environments. However, the estimated parameters are far from existing reference values, which seems to be caused right censored field warranty data. To modify the parameters, we use the information of the durability test which is performed to verify that the lifetime of the item meets the required level. After that, we can observe that the modified parameters are closer to the existing reference values. This case study shows a possible idea to supplement lack of right censored field warranty data and its applicability.

  • This paper presents a novel SOFLIC(self organizing fuzzy logic intelligent controller) for reactor rod control system in nuclear power plant. The output of fuzzy controller is gener ated by using two signal : the error between reference and average temperature, and the error between reference and neutron flux-converted temperatures. Flexibility of the controller is enhanced by using self-organizing feature and the controller respond to variation of system parameter with more precision. performances of the SOFLIC and PID are simulated with the model developed for a nuclear power plant. The SOFLIC is superior to PID : SOFLIC provides more rapid load following capability. more robustiness for variation in process dynamics and minimization of engineer's mistakes in controller design.

  • A multiple controller structure consisting of a typical feedback controller and an additive redundant controller is proposed for enhancing the reliability of the control system. For the case where the main controller is chosen as a pole assignment controller with input/output measurements and the redundant controller as the Model Reference Adaptive Controller (MRAC) whose reference model is the closed-loop combination of the plant and the main controller, it is proven that the tracking error between the command input and plant output converges to zero under failure in one of the controllers or parameter perturbations of the plant, and further that the reliability measured by Mean Time To Failure (MTTF) is greater than that of the system with only a single main controller. A simulation Example is provided to illustrate reliable operation of the proposed control system against the controller failure.

  • This article deals with the problem of testing the equality of the location parameters in the half-normal distributions. We propose Bayesian hypothesis testing procedures for the equality of the location parameters under the noninformative prior. The non-informative prior is usually improper which yields a calibration problem that makes the Bayes factor to be defined up to arbitrary constants. This problem can be deal with the use of the fractional Bayes factor or intrinsic Bayes factor. So we propose the default Bayesian hypothesis testing procedures based on the fractional Bayes factor and the intrinsic Bayes factors under the reference priors. Simulation study and an example are provided.

  • This paper derives noninformative priors for scale parameter of exponential distribution when the data are collected in multiple step stress accelerated life tests. We nd the objective priors for this model and show that the reference prior satisfies first order matching criterion. Also, we show that there exists no second order matching prior. Some simulation results are given and using artificial data, we perform Bayesian analysis for proposed priors.

  • This article deals with the problem of testing for the equality of the shape parameters in two inverse Weibull distributions. We propose Bayesian hypothesis testing procedures for the equality of the shape parameters under the noninformative prior. The noninformative prior is usually improper which yields a calibration problem that makes the Bayes factor to be defined up to a multiplicative constant. So we propose the default Bayesian hypothesis testing procedures based on the fractional Bayes factor and the intrinsic Bayes factors under the reference priors.
