This paper aims at examining how sijo works, including ancient sijo works, those published before the 1960s, those written by China-residing Koreans, and those published in the 2000s, convey the poetic meaning in terms of sentence structure. Firstly, ancient sijo works, those published before the 1960s, and those written by China-residing Koreans, have sentences. whose meaning the readers can easily grasp, with simple structures and little rhetoric words. But moderns works published In the 2000s (modern sijo works after) are mingled with too many rhetoric expressions, sometimes misused. Secondly, ancient sijo works, those published before the 1960s, and those written by China-residing Koreans, having a clarified subject-verb context. are easily understood by the readers. But, in modern sijo works, there are many cases with an unclarified subject-verb context and redundant rhetoric words, which will cause misunderstanding of the meaning of the work. Thirdly, in ancient sijo works. those published before the 1960s and those written by China-residing Koreans, each of the three statements (called in) in a stanza is separate from the others in context. But, in some modern sijo works, the first and second statements (called chojang and jungjang) fall into just rhetoric parts for the last statement (called jongjang), and each of them is not read as an independent statement. Fourthly, there are some cases whose forms are distant from those of siio works. but are written in three statements like traditional sijo works. Regular poems, though written in regular rhythm, should be also acoustically regular. Sijo works should be easily understood when recited. If not, they are basically far from sijo works. If modern sijo works should overcome their easy expressions and simplicity of themes, they should be composed through using not complicated sentence structures but brand-new metaphors, clear images, and fresh themes.

Objectives: To completely excise a malignant tumor which invades carotid artery walls, the resection and reconstruction of the carotid artery is essentially required. In most of the cases, interposition graft using a saphenous vein has been performed, however the vessel caliber discrepancy between a common carotid artery and the saphenous vein can result in a problem on surgical technique. We have introduced and evaluated a new titanium hemoclip tailing method to overcome vessel caliber discrepancy in interposition saphenous vein graft for carotid artery resection in the treatment of head and neck cancers. Method: After carotid artery resection, the calibers of the proximal common carotid artery and the vein were compared, and an orifice of the common carotid artery was gradually reduced to a little larger than or the same size as the orifice of the vein by using the titanium hemostatic clip. Subsequently, the common carotid artery was connected to the vein through anastomosis. The same method was also applied to the distal anastomosis site. There after, the vessels were connected through the anastomosis, and a circulation was restored by releasing a vascular clamp. Then, a titanium hemostatic clip-applied redundant portion on the outside of carotid artery was sutured by the blanket edge suture method, using 6-0 Prolene. Results: We have experienced this method in two patients with recurrent squamous cell carcinoma and neuroblostoma, respectively. The interposition saphenous vein graft of these patients was found to maintain good patency on the follow up angiography after one year, and they had no specific vascular complication, such as atherosclerosis. Conclusion: This method made it possible to simply perform the interposition saphenous vein graft (ISVG) within a short time and, therefore, was very useful for shortening the duration to block circulation.
To understand the responses of grapevines in response to cold stress causing the limited growth and development, differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were screened through transcriptome analysis of shoots from 2 grapevine cultivars ('Campbell Early' and 'Muscat Baily A') kept at -$2^{\circ}C$ for 4 days. In gene ontology analysis of DEGs from 'Campbell Early', there were 17,424 clones related with biological process, 28,954 with cellular component, and 6,972 with molecular function genes in response to freezing temperature. The major induced genes included dehydrin xero 1, K-box region and MADS-box transcription factor family protein, and MYB domain protein 36, and inhibited genes included light-harvesting chlorophyll B-binding protein 3, FASCICLIN-like arabinoogalactan 9, and pectin methylesterase 61 in 'Campbell Early' grapevines. In gene ontology analysis of DEGs from 'Muscat Baily A', there were 1,157 clones related with biological process, 1,350 with cellular component, and 431 with molecular function gene. The major induced genes of 'Muscat Baily A' included NB-ARC domain-containing disease resistance protein, fatty acid hydrozylase superfamily, and isopentenyltransferase 3, and inhibited genes included binding, IAP-like protein 1, and pentatricopeptide repeat superfamily protein. All major DEGs were shown to be expressed differentially by freezing temperature in real time-PCR analysis. Protein domain analysis using InterPro Scan revealed that ubiquitin-protein ligase was redundant in both tested grapevines. Transcriptome profile of shoots exposed to cold can provide new insights into the molecular basis of tolerance to low-temperature in grapevines, and can be used as resources for development new grapevines tolerant to coldness.

Expressed sequence tags (EFTs) are the partial segments of cDNA produced from 5 or 3 single-pass sequencing of cDNA clones, error-prone and generated in highly redundant sets. Advancement and expansion of Genomics made biologists to generate huge amount of ESTs from variety of organisms-human, microorganisms as well as plants, and the cumulated number of ESTs is over 5.3 million, As the EST data being accumulate more rapidly, it becomes bigger that the needs of the EST analysis tools for extraction of biological meaning from EST data. Among the several needs of EST analyses, the extraction of protein sequence or functional motifs from ESTs are important for the identification of their function in vivo. To accomplish that purpose the precise and accurate identification of the region where the coding sequences (CDSs) is a crucial problem to solve primarily, and it will be helpful to extract and detect of genuine CD5s and protein motifs from EST collections. Although several public tools are available for EST analysis, there is not any one to accomplish the object. Furthermore, they are not targeted to the plant ESTs but human or microorganism. Thus, to correspond the urgent needs of collaborators deals with plant ESTs and to establish the analysis system to be used as general-purpose public software we constructed the pipelined-EST analysis system by integration of public software components. The software we used are as follows - Phred/Cross-match for the quality control and vector screening, NCBI Blast for the similarity searching, ICATools for the EST clustering, Phrap for EST contig assembly, and BLOCKS/Prosite for protein motif searching. The sample data set used for the construction and verification of this system was 1,386 ESTs from human intrathymic T-cells that verified using UniGene and Nr database of NCBI. The approach for the extraction of CDSs from sample data set was carried out by comparison between sample data and protein sequences/motif database, determining matched protein sequences/motifs that agree with our defined parameters, and extracting the regions that shows similarities. In recent future, in addition to these components, it is supposed to be also integrated into our system and served that the software for the peptide mass spectrometry fingerprint analysis, one of the proteomics fields. This pipelined-EST analysis system will extend our knowledge on the plant ESTs and proteins by identification of unknown-genes.
Prediction problems are widely used in medical domains. For example, computer aided diagnosis or prognosis is a key component in a CDSS (Clinical Decision Support System). SVMs with nonlinear kernels like RBF kernels, have shown superior accuracy in prediction problems. However, they are not preferred by physicians for medical prediction problems because nonlinear SVMs are difficult to visualize, thus it is hard to provide intuitive interpretation of prediction results to physicians. Nomogram was proposed to visualize SVM classification models. However, it cannot visualize nonlinear SVM models. Localized Radial Basis Function (LRBF) was proposed which shows comparable accuracy as the RBF kernel while the LRBF kernel is easier to interpret since it can be linearly decomposed. This paper presents a new tool named VRIFA, which integrates the nomogram and LRBF kernel to provide users with an interactive visualization of nonlinear SVM models, VRIFA visualizes the internal structure of nonlinear SVM models showing the effect of each feature, the magnitude of the effect, and the change at the prediction output. VRIFA also performs nomogram-based feature selection while training a model in order to remove noise or redundant features and improve the prediction accuracy. The area under the ROC curve (AUC) can be used to evaluate the prediction result when the data set is highly imbalanced. The tool can be used by biomedical researchers for computer-aided diagnosis and risk factor analysis for diseases.

Recently, as users' requests for high quality mobile multimedia services are rapidly increasing and additional bandwidth can be provided by adopting the hierarchical modulation transmission technology, the research on the Advanced Terrestrial DMB (AT-DMB) service using the SVC (Scalable Video Coding) scheme is being actively studied. But, in order to realize a compatible video service and to accelerate the successful standardization and commercialization, it is necessary to simplify the compatible encoder structure. In this parer, we propose a fast mode decision method by constraining the redundant coding modes in the spatial scalable encoder that keeps the current T-DMB video in base layer. The proposed method is based on the statistical characteristics of each coding mode at both base and enhancement layers, inter-layer predictions, which are derived by investigating macroblock-layer coding modes of the spatial scalable encoder's functional structure. Through computer simulations, it is shown that a simplified encoder model that reduces the heavy computational burden can be found, while keeping the objective visual quality very high.

Enhancing clarity and transparency of the pricing guide for technical services for public construction works enables the prediction and reimbursement of the service cost for project owners and bidders, while it would also yield benefits for engineers who carry out the construction tasks. In order to improve the global competitiveness of construction service industry, the government revised its pricing guide for techical services for construction works recently, moving away from its previous percentage-of-construction-cost method towards the Cost Plus a Fee Method. However, since the Cost Plus a Fee Method results in the rise of the service price by 153%~197%, there is the need for a review on the method and basis of the adjustment in order to avoid controversies regarding the application of the revised method. In this context, this paper analysed the 2014 revision of the pricing guide for technical services for public construction works through comparison with foreign cases including those of the US and the UK. The analysis yielded the conclusion that, while the shift towards Cost Plus a Fee Method which is widely used in advanced economies is a very meaningful change in large measure, certain aspects still remain problematic. Unlike in advanced economies, the detailed break-down shows the direct labor cost includes certain indirect expenses. Also, indirec expenses are admitted so comprehensively as to include overhead costs and technology royalties. These problems results in redundant estimation of certain expenses, and obstructs transparency in spending details. This paper proposes various improvement measures to address these issues.
In the shipbuilding industry, due to the global trends where the number of IT (Information Technology) devices of a smart ship have been increased rapidly, the need to develop a new shipboard backbone network has recently emerged for integrating and managing the IT devices of a smart ship efficiently. A shipboard backbone network requires high survivability because it is constructed in automatic and unmanned smart ships where a failure of the backbone network can cause critical problems. The purpose of this paper thus is to study SAN (Ship Area Network) as a efficient shipboard backbone network, considering particularity of shipboard environment and requirement of high survivability. In order to do so, we designed a dual network topology that all network nodes, including the IT devices installed in a smart ship, are connected each other through dual paths, and reuding tht IT devices pnstalles supporices network survivability as well as t Iffic efficiency for the dual network topology. And then, we verified the performance of the suggested SAN by theoretical and practical analysis including the graph theory, the probability theory, implemental specifications, and computer simulations.

In this study, patterns of proteome expression were monitored and specifically expressed proteins in human milk were detected in collected human milk after 1 week, 3 weeks, and 6 weeks from delivery. A quantitative shotgun proteomic approach was used to identify human milk proteins and reveal their relative expression amounts. For each sample, two independent human milk samples from two mothers were pooled, and then three replicated shotgun proteomic analyses were carried out. Casein, which is a highly abundant protein in human milk, was removed, and then trypsin was treated to produce a digested peptide mixture. The peptides were loaded in the home-made reversed-phase C18 fused-silica capillary column, and then the eluted peptides were analyzed by using a linear ion-trap mass spectrometer. The relative quantitation of proteins was performed by the normalized spectral count method. For each sample, 81-109 non-redundant proteins were identified. The identified proteins consisted of glycoproteins, metabolic enzyme, and chaperon enzymes such as lactoferrin, carboxylic ester hydrolase, and clusterin. The comparative analysis for the 63 proteins, which were reproducibly identified in all three replications, revealed that 25 proteins were statically significant differentially expressed. Among the differentially expressed proteins, Ig lambda-7 chain C region and tenascin drastically decreased with the delivery time.

Liu Hejian maintained that the six types of energy can become fire and focused on the treatment of fire and heat symptoms along with the prescriptions of cryotherapy, believing that a vast majority of disease are due to fire. In this study, we investigated the characteristics of Hejian's formulae by classifying medicinal ingredients in consideration of medicinal properties and efficacy in order to examine how many cold and hot medicinal ingredients are included in the formulae of Hejian. We analysis 848 formulae among 1,055 formulae in total, excluding 207 redundant ones, which includes 366 Sunmyunglon formulae, 223 Bomyeongjip formulae, 8 Samsolon formulae, 61 Sanghanjigkyeok formulae, 68 Sanghanpyobon formulae, 22 Sanghansimyo formulae, 103 Hwalbeopgiyo formulae, 186 Bodongbiyo formulae, and 18 Gagamyoungbisippalbang formulae. In the analysis of the frequency of using each medicinal herb after classifying medicinal ingredients of Hejian's formulae by medicinal properties, we found that cold medicinal ingredients accounted for 40%, the biggest share in the formulae, and hot medicinal ingredients accounted for around 45%, which indicates that Hejian's formulae consist of both elimination and reinforcement and cold and heat, rather than cold medicinal ingredients only. As a comparison of the frequency of using each medicinal ingredients for the formulae by efficacy, we found that clear heat medicinal ingredients, totify qi and replenish blood medicinal herbs, and activate blood medicinal ingredients were most frequently used.
