This study aims to analyze and compare the difference of preference to realistic and fantastic expressions presented in the illustrations of children's picture books. The subject of this study is set for 52 seven-year-old kindergarten students, including 26 boys and 26 girls, in Cheonan. Two times of researches on their preferences were made on the basis of data collection through individual interviews and self-regulatory questionnaires. A children's picture book, which best demonstrates both realistic and fantastic expressions, was selected as a research tool for such questionnaire from the ones produced and printed within Korea, which either are listed in the Recommended Book List of Children's Book Research Association or received any international award. The result shows that both boys and girls prefer fantastic expressions to realistic ones. It was also found that girls tend to prefer realistic expressions that the boys do. Nevertheless, there definitely was a limitation in thorough analysis by region or age, as they tended to show different responses when they were provided with a picture book with similar theme and story, but different form of expression.
In order to unravel the implication on the Hwang Jahu's, a well-known medical doctor, critique of "HyangYakJibSungBang(鄕藥集成方)"(Compendium of Prescriptions from the Countryside)'s publication, this essay calls for an investigation of socio-economical situations and systematic support for the development of native herbal drugs of that time. In the period of King SeJong various systematic aspects supporting the development and utilization of native herbal drugs were created. In this ambient, Hwang Jahu also dedicated his life in the application of native herbal drugs. Though Hwang strongly recommended the use of native herbal herbs while importing insufficient resources from China. He gave a critique of "HyangYakJibSungBang(鄕藥集成方)"'s publication. Hwang's critique didn't lie on the book itself but on the practicality of this large volume from the public. He insisted more on the necessities of practical and easy accessible books for emergency situations. Throughout the emphasis on wide distribution of compact medical books and the utilization of acupuncture and moxibustion, in part reveals his pragmatic stand.

The purpose of present study is to investigate children's attitude toward reading, reading method, reading environment, reading volume, and then to compare the results obtained by sex, area and grade. The tool used in this survey was a questionaire designed specially by the investigator. The questionaire was distributed to 1339 children selected at the descretion of the investigator with due consideration of sex, area(large city, medium city and rural community) and grade (from 2nd grade of primary school to 2nd year of middle school). The results of this study are summerized as follows : 1) Regional difference was observed in respect of the followiug : Awareness on reading, motivation for reading, reading method, activity after reading, number of books collected, reading guidance, how to obtain books to read, monthly reading volume, and reading tendency. 2) Also difference by grade was observed in respcet of the following ; Activity after reading, reading guidance, monthly reading volume and reading tendency. The following conclusions have been made based on the results of the survey: 1) The children's attitude toward reading and reading method may be considered favorable while reading environment is not satisfactory yet. Especially, reading environment of school children in medium cities and rural communities is worse than that of large cities. 2) No difference by sex was observed in respect of attitudes toward reading, reading method, reading environment and reading volume while difference by sex was observed in respect of reading tendency. The followings are recommended based on the results of survey: 1) To establish and carry out a comprehensive program for the improvement of reading environment of the school children in medium cities and rural communities. 2) To improve and substantiate school library facilities and design a proper guidance program to have children utilize school library to the maximum extent. 3) To contemplate on the consolidated measures for reading behavior survey.

Because of the changes made in the modes of cataloguing and classification in its long history, the present catalogue of the National Central Library has become complicated and provides an inadequate guide to its collection. There can be no doubt that this is a serious deficiency in a closed access library since materials housed in the library are virtually inaccessible to unskilled readers. The whole breakdown of the efficiency of the catalogue is emminent and will ultimately create the most serious problems for the library. The main purpose of this survey is: (a) to identify problem areas created by the frequent changes in the cataloguing and classifying principles in the library and (b) to grope a rational direction for the future development. Analysing the various classification schemes and cataloguing rules adopted in processing materials (mainly books) in the library, the following conclusions have been made. A. The library adopted five different clasification schemes in different periods, of which KDCP was used for the most part of its collection. KDCP is recommended to use for the future colletion. A classification development office is recommended to be established within the library, of which the main function is to revise the KDCP in collaboration with the appropriate committee of the Korean Library Association. B. The present practice in the library is to apply three different cataloguing rules and two different author notation tables to the Oriental, classical, and Western collections. Efforts should be made to find out an efficient system so that this variety is simplified. An alphabetical index should be added to the classified catalogue, and improvements are required in the Japanese collection. C. The technical services division is inadequately staffed. The staff should be sufficiently numerous and specially qualified. D. The present financial support for the technical services of the library is inadequate. Sufficient financial provision should be made to ensure the effective work. E. A feasibility study should be carried out to develop a computer processing system for providing machine-readable catalogue records on magnetic tape for use by the library community in Korea.
The purpose of this study is to understand the characteristics and the differences regarding the teaching & learning objectives of Environment textbooks for middle school students with the consideration of the 7th Korean National Curriculum. For this the teaching & teaming objectives of three Environment textbooks currently used categorized according to the domain frame of environmental education in the Report of UNESCO(1980). three Environment textbooks and their teacher's guide books are those printed by three companies(A, B, and C) and Joongahng co.. The five objective categories recommended by UNESCO are awareness, knowledge, attitude, skills and participation and six types of skills by National Curriculum Council of England are communication skills, numeracy skills, study skills, problem-solving skills, personal and social skills and information technology skills. It is showed that'Human and Environment'domain is emphasized roughly in the awareness and the knowledge section without any statement of the participation section, 'Environmental Problems and its Counter-plan'domain in the knowledge and the skills section, 'Environmental Conservation'domain in the skills and the participation section of objectives. It is revealed that the skills section of the teaching 8t learning objectives is mainly involved in 'Environmental Problems and its Counter-plan'domain and'Environmental Conservation' domain. According to the result of the analysis of the connectivity between the Environment Curriculum of the 7th Korean National Curriculum and the Environment textbooks regarding objectives stated in the sub-domain level, it says those are generally appropriate ones. But some objectives are emphasized weakly or not at all in several sub-domains such as'The living environment to keep','The environmental problems of the earth','Making environment pleasant'. It is proposed that the efforts to state objectives in the Environment textbooks evenly are needed to be paid (or the well-balanced teaching & teaming of the Environment subject.
The management and disposal of harzardous chemicals from the middle school science class was studied for the safety of student and for the protection of the environment. This study was undertaken by analysis of 5 kinks of current middle school science text book and questionnaire survey, and reviewed on the recommended methods for the disposal of harzardous chemical wastes from science class. There are 237 chemicals determined in the middle school science text books and 87 among them actually used in middle school science laboratory. 51 chemicals are classified as harzardous ones and 49 highly hazardous according to the 'Law of Toxic Chemicals management'. 116 chemicals are defined as water pollutants and 10 are highly hazardous water pollutants according to the 'Water Quality Control Law' as well are 91 chemicals as air pollutants and 19 are highly hazardous air pollutants according to the 'Air Quality Control Law' Questionnaire survey results the identification of toxic chemicals, need for education, awareness of toxic effects and current problems in the management. Disposal of toxic chemicals in middle school science class has been undertaken without any treatment, which could be caused of environmental pollution. Most of science teacher wanted to have opportunities to attend supplement courses for the management and disposal of chemicals for the safety and environmental protection. Simple and applicable methods for the management and disposal of chemicals at middle school science level should be strongly recommended to be installed.
The present study was conducted to determine whether the food shortage situation in North Korea has affected its people differentially according to social class. We performed a literature search on North Korean books and documents on food and nutrition. We also conducted a mail survey on North Korean defectors to estimate the energy and nutrient intake and the practice of foraging for wild foods at the time of food crisis in North Korea. The subjects were 150 adults, 104 men and 46 women, aged 20 years and older, who resettled in the South Korea after the food crisis. The mean energy intakes for men and women were estimated to be 1,260 kcal and 980.6 kcal, respectively, which were far less than 2,900 kcal and 2,600 kcal, the intake levels recommended for North Korean men and women, respectively. Thirty seven percent of the subjects reported a lack of foods adequate enough for work and other daily activities, and fifty seven percent reported a routine use of wild foods such as roots, grass, stalks, and tree bark with an average of 4 items per day. Food consumption patterns on a typical day were different by social classes with the high class people consuming an affluent diet in the midst of a severe food shortage.
The aim of this study is to collate all available data on experiments reporting the antiproliferative, cytotoxic effects of plants and natural products in Morocco in the last two decades. A bibliographic investigation was carried out by analyzing recognized books and peer-reviewed papers, consulting worldwide accepted scientific databases (Scirus, Embase, HighWire, MEDLINE/PubMed, LILACS, Ovid, ScienceDirect, SciELO, Google Scholar). We used medical subject heading terms and the words 'anticancer', 'antiproliferative', 'antineoplastic', 'antitumoral', 'cytotoxic', 'Morocco', to identify relevant articles. Moroccan plants with attributed anti-cancer properties studied as plant extracts that have been evaluated for cytotoxic effects, antitumoral effects, plants with active compounds tested on cancer cell lines, and plants with active compounds that have been assayed on animal models were chosen for this research. In the present study, interest is focused on experimental research conducted on medicinal plants, particularly those which show antiproliferative or cytotoxic activities alongside bioactive components. A total of 20 plant species belonging to 12 families have been identified as active or promising sources of phytochemicals with antiproliferative properties. The plant families, which cover all the species studied in this field, are Lamiaceae (7 species) and Asteraceae (4 species); the most studied species being Argania spinosa (Sapotaceae) and Arisarum vulgare (Araceae), Thymus Genus (Labiateae) and Peganum harmala (Zygophyllaceae). Based on the search results, it is recommended to increase the number of experimental studies and to begin conducting clinical trials with Moroccan plants and their active compounds selected by in vitro and in vivo activities.

Creative thinking in education is a common assumption to be accomplish in this information age. Information education can contribute to build the ability to think creatively. The Author explored how information education conduces the creative thinking ability that is necessary to the development of independent and competent study for students themselves. The writer also expressed the integrated education makes students think synthetically and synthetic educational experience derives creative thinking. She based her arguments upon the theory of the psychology of memory and the Piaget's cognitive structure. To increase the effects of information education, it is necessary to integrate the curriculums and learning method of the information education and those of other areas of learning, i,e., languages, literatures, social sciences, sciences, mathematics, etc. Here, author asserted that the teaching of information skill within classroom curriculums for all subject areas can make the integrated effects on various classroom curriculums. On the basis of the findings of this study, the author recommended that every school needs to prepare enough books and other media for the students to drill information skill. Consequently, to build creative thinking ability for He students, librarians, classroom teachers and school principals who have influence on the information education, have to cooperate to initiate integrated information education for the student.
Purpose: To provide basic informations for guidelines of Ginseng usage during lactation. Method: Based on a regulation of scope and preparation of herbal prescriptions by Ministry of health and welfare of Korea, we selected the formulae for postpartum care and disease in 7 Korean Medical Classics. And we searched the number of formulae including Ginseng, dosage and indications of Ginseng in formulae in those books. Results: The range of Ginseng dosage during lactation from medical classics is 1.5-18.75g/day for medical purposes. Indications of Ginseng are lethargy, excessive bleeding, asthma, fever, cold, pain, dizziness, mental disorder, spasm, digestive problem, constipation, diarrhea, urinary incontinence, edema, breast engorgement, lack of breastmilk, breast ulcer, etc. But Ginseng had not been used in the case of stroke, epistaxis, beginning of mastitis, tumor of lower abdomen. Conclusions: Ginseng should be recommended less than 1.5g/d as a nutritional supplement. If breastfeeding woman wants to take Ginseng as a medication or as a tonic, she should consult with a official specialist about proper prescription and dosage instead of risky random medication.
