  • In a reinforced concrete structure, coupler construction is easier to install than jointing or welding reinforcing bars, so it is possible to work by one person. When constructing a reinforcing bar coupler, the coupler construction method must be different for each member that receives a large tensile force or a member that receives a small tensile strength. Various coupler products are used in the global construction market, and the quality, performance, and cost of reinforcing bar joints vary from product to product. This study compares and analyzes the quality and cost of representative rebar couplers according to the requirements using the quality house of QFD-HOQ. The case study presents a quality and cost improvements strategy through QFD-HOQ analysis of rebar couplers.

  • To evaluate anti-corrosion performance of rebar in concrete according to the amount of chloride and inhibitor, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS) method was conducted in this study. For the anti-corrosion performance evaluation according to time, Impedance of rebar in concrete was measured before and after 5 cycle of corrosion acceleration. As a results, The impedance of rebar in concrete added chloride decreased than before corrosion acceleration. However impedance of other specimens was maintained or increased than before corrosion acceleration.

  • To minimize construction of nuclear facility, it is required to reduce reinforcing bar amount and solve reinforcing bar concentration and for this, it is necessary to develop appication design technology and modular of high strength reinforcing bar. Hence, KHNP reduces excessive reinforcing bar amount which can cause possibility of poor construction of concrete through design standard development and modular of nuclear facility structure using high strength reinforcing bar to raise economics and has its purpose to maintain high-level safety and durability as they are. After reviewing the rebar drawing of the NPP structures and performing the mock-up test, the rebar modulation method in the various area of the NPP Structure has been established.

  • 먹매김 로봇은 허용오차 이내의 정밀도를 확보하는 것이 매우 중요하다. 그러나 골조공사는 시공과정에서 철근배근의 변위가 빈번하게 발생하며, 해당오차는 먹선이나 철근위치의 수정을 요구한다. 먹매김 로봇은 정밀도 확보 및 자동화를 위해 철근의 오차를 측정하고 먹선과 철근의 수정을 스스로 판단할 수 있어야 한다. 이에 본 연구는 LiDAR 센서를 통한 철근배근의 오차 측정방안과 이를 바탕으로 먹매김 판단 프로세스를 제시하였다. LiDAR 센서를 활용한 철근인식 실험결과 평균적으로 5mm 내외의 오차를 발생하였으며, 이는 일반적으로 벽체에 적용되는 철근 수준에서 인식을 신뢰할만한 수준으로 나타났다. 또한 철근오차를 범위별로 판단하여 철근의 보정여부와 먹매김의 수행여부를 로봇이 스스로 판단할 수 있는 프로세스를 제시하였다. 본 연구결과는 시공오차를 고려한 먹매김로봇의 자동운영에 기여할 수 있으며 이를 통해 골조품질을 향상시킬 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • Current building structural standards require the shear strength and rigidity in the design of vertical construction joints in a slurry wall. This paper proposes a shear key resistance method for shear connection of vertical construction joints, and compares its structural performance with the currently prevalent method of shear friction rebar. The study found the structural performance of the shear key resistance method was significantly better than that of the shear friction rebar method.

  • 본 연구에서는 CFRP 보강근과 고강도콘크리트의 부착강도에 미치는 보강섬유의 표면처리 방법의 효과를 평가하였다. 표면을 친수성 물질로 코팅된 구조용 PVA 섬유 및 기하학적 변형으로 변형된 절곡형 폴리올레핀계 구조용 합성섬유를 보강섬유로 사용하였다. 섬유의 표면처리 방법에 따른 고강도콘크리트의 강도특성을 평가하기 위하여 압축강도 실험을 실시하였다. 고강도콘크리트와 CFRP 보강근 사이의 부착특성은 직접 부착강도시험을 의하여 평가하였다. 시험 결과는 섬유의 표면처리 방법은 고강도콘크리트와 CFRP 보강근 사이의 부착거동에 영향을 미쳤다. 또한 고강도콘크리트에 섬유의 첨가는 할렬균열의 발생 및 성장을 조절함으로써 고강도콘크리트와 CFRP 보강근 사이의 부착거동, 부착강도 및 상대부착강도의 증가시켰다.

Improving the concrete quality and controlling corrosion of rebar embedded in concrete via the synthesis of titanium oxide and silica nanoparticles

  • Concrete is one of the most widely used structure materials. Concrete is like the motor of the construction industry. The remarkable feature of this Concrete is its cheapness and low energy consumption. Concrete alone does not show resistance against any force but only against compressive forces. Therefore, steel rebar product is used as a reinforcement and increase the strength of Concrete. It can be done by putting rebar in Concrete in different ways. Rebar rusting is one of the crucial symptoms that cause swift destruction in reinforced structures-factors such as moisture in concrete increase the steel corrosion rate. In most cases, it is difficult to compensate for the damage caused by the corrosion of base metals, so preventing corrosion will be much more cost-effective. Coatings made with nanotechnology can protect Concrete against external degradation factors to prevent water and humidity from penetrating the Concrete and prevent rusting and corrosion of the rebar inside. It prevents water penetration and contamination into the Concrete and increases the Concrete's quality and structural efficiency. In this research, silica and titanium dioxide nanoparticle coatings have been used due to their suitable electrical and thermal properties, resistance to oxidation, corrosion, and wear to prevent the corrosion of rebars in Concrete. The results of this method show that these nanoparticles significantly improve the corrosion resistance of rebars.

Enhancing Occlusion Robustness for Vision-based Construction Worker Detection Using Data Augmentation

  • Occlusion is one of the most challenging problems for computer vision-based construction monitoring. Due to the intrinsic dynamics of construction scenes, vision-based technologies inevitably suffer from occlusions. Previous researchers have proposed the occlusion handling methods by leveraging the prior information from the sequential images. However, these methods cannot be employed for construction object detection in non-sequential images. As an alternative occlusion handling method, this study proposes a data augmentation-based framework that can enhance the detection performance under occlusions. The proposed approach is specially designed for rebar occlusions, the distinctive type of occlusions frequently happen during construction worker detection. In the proposed method, the artificial rebars are synthetically generated to emulate possible rebar occlusions in construction sites. In this regard, the proposed method enables the model to train a variety of occluded images, thereby improving the detection performance without requiring sequential information. The effectiveness of the proposed method is validated by showing that the proposed method outperforms the baseline model without augmentation. The outcomes demonstrate the great potential of the data augmentation techniques for occlusion handling that can be readily applied to typical object detectors without changing their model architecture.

딥러닝의 반복적 예측방법을 활용한 철근 가격 장기예측에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on Long-Term Prediction of Rebar Price Using Deep Learning Recursive Prediction Meothod)

  • 본 연구는 딥러닝의 반복적 예측방식을 활용하여 5개월의 철근 가격 예측방법을 제안한다. 이 방식은 입력데이터의 특성을 모두 단기예측하여 원 데이터에 추가하고, 추가된 데이터로 다음의 시점을 예측하는 과정을 반복하여 장기 예측한다. 본 연구에서 제시하는 방식으로 1개월에서 5개월까지 예측한 철근 가격의 예측 평균 정확도는 약 97.24%이다. 제안된 방식을 통해 인간의 경험과 판단을 통한 가격 추정방법의 체계성을 보완하여 기존의 방식보다 정확한 비용계획이 가능할 것으로 사료된다. 또 철근 이외의 건축재료를 비롯하여 시계열 데이터로 가격을 장기예측하는 연구에서 본 연구에서 제시한 방법이 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.
