  • This paper proposes the Lempel-Ziv 4(LZ4) compression accelerator optimized for scale-out servers in data centers. In order to reduce CPU loads caused by compression, we propose an accelerator solution and implement the accelerator on an Field Programmable Gate Array(FPGA) as heterogeneous computing. The LZ4 compression hardware accelerator is a fully pipelined architecture and applies 16 dictionaries to enhance the parallelism for high throughput compressor. Our hardware accelerator is based on the 20-stage pipeline and dictionary architecture, highly customized to LZ4 compression algorithm and parallel hardware implementation. Proposing dictionary architecture allows achieving high throughput by comparing input sequences in multiple dictionaries simultaneously compared to a single dictionary. The experimental results provide the high throughput with intensively optimized in the FPGA. Additionally, we compare our implementation to CPU implementation results of LZ4 to provide insights on FPGA-based data centers. The proposed accelerator achieves the compression throughput of 639MB/s with fine parallelism to be deployed into scale-out servers. This approach enables the low power Intel Atom processor to realize the Hadoop storage along with the compression accelerator.

  • Mobile communication industry powered by electronics and information technology is building a transforming way for human communication. The latest electronics is so saturated to forget the difficulty in size reduction of electronic parts. However, mechanical parts, such as dynamic speakers and vibration motors, are intrinsically not easy to realize size reduction due to their construction. In this paper, a hexahedral type with simpler configuration is introduced to substitute for the conventional vibration motors. For uneven magnetic field analysis of the hexahedral type, FEM was used to determine magnetic flux density. After an analysis of magnetic and mechanical characteristics, it is shown that the coil configuration is the most important parameter to increase the output torque, and thus vibration. For optimization, genetic algorithm is used to find the optimal configuration of coil to maximize the output torque. Experimental results are also followed to confirm the validity of the proposed design.

  • This paper summarizes the implementation of lane recognition using OpenCV, one of the open source computer vision libraries. The Linux operating system Rasbian(r18.03.13) was installed on the ARM processor-based Raspberry Pi 3 board, and Raspberry Pi Camera was used for image processing. In order to realize the lane recognition, Canny Edge Detection and Hough Transform algorithm implemented in OpenCV library was used and RANSAC algorithm was used to prevent shaking of vanishing point and to detect only the desired straight line. In addtion, the DC motor and the Servo motor were controlled so that the vehicle would run according to the detected lane.

  • Recently, photovoltaic system has been studied widely as a renewable energy system, because it does not produce environmental pollution and it has infinity energy source from the sun. A study on photovoltaic system has a lot of problems like as reappearance and repetition of some situation in the laboratory experiment for development of MPPT algorithm and islanding detection algorithm, because output characteristics of solar cell are varied by irradiation and surface temperature of solar cell. And this system is consisted a lot of solar cell unit. Therefore, the assistant equipment which emulates the solar cell characteristics which can be controlled arbitrarily by researcher is require to the researchers for reliable experimental data. In this paper, the virtual implement of solar cell (VISC) system is proposed to solve these problems and to achieve reliable experimental result on photovoltaic system. VISC system emulates the solar cell output characteristics, and this system can substitute solar cell in laboratory experiment system. To realize the VISC, mathematical model of solar cell is studied for driving converter and the DC/DC converters are compared in viewpoint of tracking error using computer simulation. And then analysis of parallel and series characteristics was done for combination of VISC model.

  • The classic routing algorithms try to minimize the number of hops to reach a destination. In our DPC(Distributed Power Control) this hop-by-hop power level selection is also used to select the path guaranteeing low energy consumption. The main goal is to realize a dynamic protocol able to be aware of mobility and to automatically set security threshold in order to get the best performance in every situation. In conclusion, the simulation DPC has improved energy gain of the AMRIS routing algorithm at the narrow area, and ODMRP routing algorithm has improved energy gain at the wide area.

  • The multisource image fusion has become an active topic in the last few years owing to its higher segmentation rate. To enhance the accuracy of multimodal pig-body feature segmentation, a multisource image fusion method was employed. Nevertheless, the conventional multisource image fusion methods can not extract superior contrast and abundant details of fused image. To superior segment shape feature and detect temperature feature, a new multisource image fusion method was presented and entitled as NSST-GF-IPCNN. Firstly, the multisource images were resolved into a range of multiscale and multidirectional subbands by Nonsubsampled Shearlet Transform (NSST). Then, to superior describe fine-scale texture and edge information, even-symmetrical Gabor filter and Improved Pulse Coupled Neural Network (IPCNN) were used to fuse low and high-frequency subbands, respectively. Next, the fused coefficients were reconstructed into a fusion image using inverse NSST. Finally, the shape feature was extracted using automatic threshold algorithm and optimized using morphological operation. Nevertheless, the highest temperature of pig-body was gained in view of segmentation results. Experiments revealed that the presented fusion algorithm was able to realize 2.102-4.066% higher average accuracy rate than the traditional algorithms and also enhanced efficiency.

  • This paper carried out numerical calculation about the directivity synthesis problem in two dimension of adaptive ultrasonic transducers. Adaptive system for directivity synthesis is constructed by multi-electrode array on the surface of only one piezoelectric ceramic plate combined with optimal algorithm. In order to realize the desired directivity that is established arbitrarily, the optimal vibrational displacement is calculated by optimal algorithm (DFP method). Secondly, the optimal voltage of electrodes which is correspond to the calculated vibrational displacement is calculated used by finite element method and DFP method. And, the vibration analysis in two dimension of piezoelectric transducer carried out by means of finite element method.

  • An emerging satellite technology, Operationally Responsive Space (ORS) is expected to provide a fast and flexible solution for emergency response, such as target tracking, dense earth observation, communicate relaying and so on. To realize large distance transmission, we propose the use of available relay satellites as relay nodes. Accordingly, we apply software defined network (SDN) technology to ORS networks. We additionally propose a satellite network architecture refered to as the SDN-based ORS-Satellite (Sat) networking scheme (SDOS). To overcome the issures of node failures and dynamic topology changes of satellite networks, we combine centralized and distributed routing mechanisms and propose a fast recovery routing algorithm (FRA) for SDOS. In this routing method, we use centralized routing as the base mode. The distributed opportunistic routing starts when node failures or congestion occur. The performance of the proposed routing method was validated through extensive computer simulations. The results demonstrate that the method is effective in terms of resoving low end-to-end delay, jitter and packet drops.

  • If an accident vehicle propagates emergency messages to other vehicles close to it, the other drivers may realize and avoid the accident spot. In this letter, we propose a broadcast scheme to propagate emergency messages fast in urban VANETs (Vehicular Ad-Hoc Networks) with the help of GPS (Global Position System). In our scheme, a transmitting vehicle chooses the farthest node as the next relay vehicle to propagate emergency messages. And, we suggest an algorithm for intersection recognition and SCF (Store-Carry-Forward) task by taking advantage of periodic hello packets to reduce the propagation time and enhance the delivery ratio.
