  • In this paper, we describe the developing of a tool which supports both multimedia presentation with user's participation through a high speed network and authoring of various media using a single authoring tool. To support real-time synchronous multimedia presentation, we adopt dynamic synchronization method and adaptive transmission algorithm for synchronizing data transfer rate between sender and receiver using buffer management algorithm based on QoS parameters. And we also allow user's participation in the presentation using TRSG(Temporal Relationship Specification Graph) model. Finally, the proposed tool supports the minimal level of QoS and its continuous play-out using event auditing threads which control the current state of a multimedia presentation continuously by monitoring of negative factors effecting on QoS, and synchronization.

  • Steganography is to conceal the existence of secrete data itself. The Emulab is a framework to provide real systems and network topology that can set up at anytime by researchers. In this paper, we show that steganography techniques can be applied in the Emulab environment. Steganography methods are evaluated on a standalone and sharing environments using the color bitmap images. The cover image is divided into RGB channels and then embedded the secret data at each client. The experimental results demonstrate that execution time is better in client/server environment as cover image size is increasing.

  • This paper describes position tracking system of a container trailer approaching to a gantry crane for loading or unloading a container into or from a ship, respectively. Proposed position tracking system informs the trailer driver of right position to stop the car under a gantry crane. To measure the location of a trailer, we used Cricket Mote modules which adopted RF and ultrasound technology. We present an elaborate method to improve position errors occurring at sensing and calculate three dimensional position by triangulation along with how to reduce location tracking interval for real-time monitoring. The location information was transmitted to a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) periodically through Bluetooth communication for guidance of the trailer driver. In indoor and outdoor tests, position errors were less than 3 cm and location tracking interval was 0.5 second on average.

  • During communication between wireless users, disconnection may occur during the handover process. The high handover latency during the process of handover degrades the service quality of the wireless communications. This problem becomes more crucial if the operation network is transmitting real-time multimedia applications. This paper studies the hanover procedure of mobile IPv6 and investigates various factors affecting the handover latency through mobile IPv6 testbed and evaluates the various parameters for reducing the handover latency.

  • When abnormal events occur in a nuclear power plant, operators must conduct appropriate abnormal operating procedures. It is burdensome though for operators to choose the appropriate procedure considering the numerous main plant parameters and hundreds of alarms that should be judged in a short time. Recently, various research has applied deep-learning algorithms to support this problem by classifying each abnormal condition with high accuracy. Most of these models are trained with simulator data because of a lack of plant data for abnormal states, and as such, developed models may not have tolerance for plant data in actual situations. In this study, two approaches are investigated for a deep-learning model trained with simulator data to overcome the performance degradation caused by noise in actual plant data. First, a preprocessing method using several filters was employed to smooth the test data noise, and second, a data augmentation method was applied to increase the acceptability of the untrained data. Results of this study confirm that the combination of these two approaches can enable high model performance even in the presence of noisy data as in real plants.

  • With the application of wireless sensor networks in the fields of ecological observation, defense military, architecture and urban management etc., the security problem is becoming more and more serious. Characteristics and constraint conditions of wireless sensor networks such as computing power, storage space and battery have brought huge challenges to protection research. Inspired by the danger theory in biological immune system, this paper proposes an intrusion detection model for wireless sensor networks. The model abstracts expressions of antigens and antibodies in wireless sensor networks, defines meanings and functions of danger signals and danger areas, and expounds the process of intrusion detection based on the danger theory. The model realizes the distributed deployment, and there is no need to arrange an instance at each sensor node. In addition, sensor nodes trigger danger signals according to their own environmental information, and do not need to communicate with other nodes, which saves resources. When danger is perceived, the model acquires the global knowledge through node cooperation, and can perform more accurate real-time intrusion detection. In this paper, the performance of the model is analyzed including complexity and efficiency, and experimental results show that the model has good detection performance and reduces energy consumption.

  • The remote monitoring and warning system for dangerous chemicals is designed with the concept of the Cyber-Physical System (CPS) in this paper. The real-time perception, dynamic control, and information service of major hazards chemicals are realized in this CPS system. The CPS system architecture, the physical layer and the applacation layer, are designed in this paper. The terminal node is mainly composed of the field collectors which complete the data acquisition of sensors and video in the physical layers, and the use of application layer makes CPS system safer and more reliable to monitor the hazardous chemicals. The cloud application layer completes the risk identification and the prediction of the major hazard sources. The early intelligent warning of the major dangerous chemicals is realized and the security risk images are given in the cloud application layer. With the CPS technology, the remote network of hazardous chemicals has been completed, and a major hazard monitoring and accident warning online system is formed. Through the experiment of the terminal node, it can be proved that the terminal node can complete the mass data collection and classify. With this experiment it can be obtained the CPS system is safe and effective. In order to verify feasible, the multi-risk warning based on CPS is simulated, and results show that the system solves the problem of hazardous chemicals enterprises safety management.

  • A robot usually adopts ANN (artificial neural network)-based object detection and instance segmentation algorithms to recognize objects but creating datasets for these algorithms requires high labeling costs because the dataset should be manually labeled. In order to lower the labeling cost, a new scheme is proposed that can automatically generate a training images and label them for specific objects. This scheme uses an instance segmentation algorithm trained to give the masks of unknown objects, so that they can be obtained in a simple environment. The RGB images of objects can be obtained by using these masks, and it is necessary to label the classes of objects through a human supervision. After obtaining object images, they are synthesized with various background images to create new images. Labeling the synthesized images is performed automatically using the masks and previously input object classes. In addition, human intervention is further reduced by using the robot arm to collect object images. The experiments show that the performance of instance segmentation trained through the proposed method is equivalent to that of the real dataset and that the time required to generate the dataset can be significantly reduced.
