Collaborative Authoring based on Physics Simulation

  • This research studies the Virtual Reality simulation of Newton's physics law on rigid body type of objects for physics learning. With network support, collaborative interaction is enabled so that people from different places can interact with the same set of objects in Collaborative Virtual Environment. The taxonomy of the interaction in different levels of collaboration is described as: distinct objects and same object, in which there are same object - sequentially, same object - concurrently - same attribute, and same object - concurrently - distinct attributes. The case studies are the interaction of users in two cases: destroying and creating a set of arranged rigid bodies. We identify a specific type of application for contents authoring with modeling systems integrated with real-time physics and implemented in VR system. In our application called Virtual Dollhouse, users can observe physics law while constructing a dollhouse using existing building blocks, under gravity effects.

  • As close competitions are being fought out among enterprises, they should accomplish their objectives such as reduction of cost, improvement of quality and condensation of due date, etc. For this objects, it becomes very important to manage the workflow harmoniously and to share the information efficiently between geographically dispersed users.   • The manufacturing paradigm has shifted dramatically over the past decade from “push” or mass production mode to “pull” or customer-driven, order-based manufacturing mode, as multitudes of customers now demand mass customization of configurable products. As a means to achieve such rapidly responsive manufacturing system, Advanced Planning System (APS) has become an essential software tool for achieving modern “build-to-order” and “configure-to-order” manufacturing environment. APS enables manufacturers to respond to variety of customer demands In real time by instantly configuring manufacturing processes based on specifications described in each purchase orders and providing capable-to-promise information directly to customer by performing rapid “what-if” manufacturing simulated scenarios.   • The Gyeonggi-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services has developed a web-site (http://www.epilove.com) in collaboration with EPINET to provide information on agricultural weather and rice disease and insect pest management in Gyeonggi-do. Weather information includes near real-time weather data monitored by automated weather stations (AWS) installed at rice paddy fields of 11 Agricultural Technology Centers (ATC) in Gyeonggi-do, and weekly weather forecast by Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA).(omitted)

  • This paper deals with the collaborative procurement process in a two-echelon supply chain that a manufacturing company and a contractor are connected through the information system. The real time information about inventory and production processing becomes available through this information system. We raise two issues related to the collaborative procurement process. First, we propose a VMI(Vendor-Managed Inventory) type of the procurement policy which focuses on the cost minimization for the total supply chain rather than individual companies. Second, based on the simulation study, we demonstrate that a collaborative procurement process is more cost-effective over classical procurement processes such as (Q, r). The result obtained in this paper can be applied to the quantitative evaluation of the cost saving effect when companies build the information sharing based, collaborative procurement system.

Dual Autostereoscopic Display Platform for Multi-user Collaboration with Natural Interaction

  • In this letter, we propose a dual autostereoscopic display platform employing a natural interaction method, which will be useful for sharing visual data with users. To provide 3D visualization of a model to users who collaborate with each other, a beamsplitter is used with a pair of autostereoscopic displays, providing a visual illusion of a floating 3D image. To interact with the virtual object, we track the user's hands with a depth camera. The gesture recognition technique we use operates without any initialization process, such as specific poses or gestures, and supports several commands to control virtual objects by gesture recognition. Experiment results show that our system performs well in visualizing 3D models in real-time and handling them under unconstrained conditions, such as complicated backgrounds or a user wearing short sleeves.

  • 현대 사회는 개인작업보다 협업에 의한 작업들이 많다. 과거에는 컴퓨터와 개인 간의 작업이 대부분이었으나, 현재에는 스마트 폰과 태블릿의 급속한 보급으로 다자간의 협업체계로 시스템이 운용가능하게 되었다. 다자간의 협업체계로 운용되는 시스템은 기존의 개인 작업에서 발생하지 않았던 작업 충돌 현상이 발생할 수 있다. 이러한 작업 충돌 현상을 방지하기위한 방안을 제안하기위해 협업 드로잉 시스템을 제안한다. 이 시스템은 안드로이드 기반의 스마트 기기를 가진 사람들이 동시에 한 화변에 그림을 그리고, 그 그려진 그림화면을 공유하며 함께 작업을 진행한다. 이 시스템을 이용하는 사람들의 작업영역을 실시간으로 파악하여 서로간의 구두적인 의사소통 없이 작업 충돌을 최소화시키기 위한 방법에 대해 연구한다.

  • 본 논문은 실시간으로 수입이 발생되면 휴대하고 있는 스마트폰으로 수입을 관리하도록 개발된 논문으로 실시간 정보를 입력할 수 있는 DB를 추가하고 발생데이터를 추가하도록 처리하였다. 수입에 대한 분석을 위해 입력된 전체리스트를 검색할 수도 있고, 검색조건을 이용하여 해당되는 건으로도 조회가 가능하다. 또한, 지출 건의 비용 발생시 여러 사람이 나누어 낼 경우, 각자 내기 기능을 두어 1인당 지출할 비용를 계산하기 쉽도록 설계하였다. 본 관리프로그램을 사용한다면 수입에 따른 지출을 예상하여 체계적인 소비생활이 기대되며, 사용자에 따라 필드를 추가하고 메뉴의 기능을 다양화 한다면 상용 프로그램으로 확장시킬 수 있을 것이다.

A novel qEEG measure of teamwork for human error analysis: An EEG hyperscanning study

  • In this paper, we propose a novel method to quantify the neural synchronization between subjects in the collaborative process through electroencephalogram (EEG) hyperscanning. We hypothesized that the neural synchronization in EEGs will increase when the communication of the operators is smooth and the teamwork is better. We quantified the EEG signal for multiple subjects using a representative EEG quantification method, and studied the changes in brain activity occurring during collaboration. The proposed method quantifies neural synchronization between subjects through bispectral analysis. We found that phase synchronization between EEGs of multi subjects increased significantly during the periods of collaborative work. Traditional methods for a human error analysis used a retrospective analysis, and most of them were analyzed for an unspecified majority. However, the proposed method is able to perform the real-time monitoring of human error and can directly analyze and evaluate specific groups.

  • Today enterprises are bringing forward the strong needs for the Global Work Space that is able to realize the collaboration of the virtual enterprise in order to achieve the rapid entrance to market, the quality improvement as well as the cost reduction of their new products. Especially, they are building the efficient Product Management Infrastructure in parallel with the real-time knowledge management for the information generated in the course of a product lifecycle and the Process Innovation making the Concurrent Engineering possible. Building a system in the web environment cannot be the entire effort to realize the Global Work Space within an enterprise that is an essential factor for the reduction of a product development period which in turn contributes to Time to Market. Various work models and processes are found in enterprises and many different application programs are developed and utilized to support these. This study proposes a scheme for the optimized Collaborative Workflow System Architecture that is able to take in and apply various application programs accompanied by the product development work process. Through this, we are to examine various limits and problems existing in the real-time collaborative system between enterprises and to reform these.
