  • A new dynamic passband filter enable to control the bandwidth using converging readout beam in photorefractive diffraction grating with high-efficiency is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. In this proposed scheme, the 3dB passband of a volume grating in crystal is theoretically predicted and the experimental results are obtained in consistent with our derivation that the bandwidth is controlled from 0.35nm to 3.3nm at the center wavelength of 670. 1nm.

  • In x-ray imaging system, twokinds of noises are involved. First, the charge generated from the radiation interaction with the detector during exposure is modeled by Poisson process. Second, the signal is then added by readout electronics noise, which is modeled by Gaussian distribution. In this paper, we applied Wiener filter and Wavelet to remove noise from medical X-ray image, the result shows that wavelet yield better segmentation results than the wiener filter.

  • MIRIS (Multipurpose Infra-Red Imaging System) is the first Korean Infrared Space Telescope developed by KASI (Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute), and is the main payload of STSAT-3 (Science and Technology Satellite-3). The FM (fight model) of MIRIS has been recently completed, and various performance tests have been made to measure system parameters such as readout noise, system gain, linearity, and dark current. Final thermal-vacumm test of the MIRIS and the vibration test of the electronics box have been performed. Band response tests showed good agreement with the initial design requirements. No significant dark difference was measured within the expected temperature variation range during observation in orbit. Using Pa-alpha band from a uniform source, the readout noise and system gain were measured by mean variance test. To obtain uniform flat image, flat fielding tests were made for each band, and the data will be compared to that obtained in orbit for calibration. The final version of MIRIS FM will be delivered in March, and it will be integrated into the satellite system for the AIT (Assembly Integration, Test) procedure. The launch of MIRIS is expected in November 2012.

  • The two-dimensional modeling of the non-stationary thermal state and voltage responsivity of the sensitive elements usually used in solid-state pyroelectric focal plane arrays are presented. Temperature distributions under periodical thermal excitation and the response of the thermal imaging device, which is composed of the pyroelectric sensitive elements mounted on a single silicon substrate, are numerically calculated. The sensitive element consists of a covering metal layer, infrared polymer absorber, front metal contact, sensitive pyroelectric element, the interconnecting column and the bulk silicon readout. The results of the numerical modeling show that the thermal crosstalk between sensitive elements to be critical especially at low frequency (f < 10Hz) of periodically modulated light. It is also shown that the use of our models gives the possibility to improve the design, operating regimes and sensitivity of the device.

  • This paper deals with methods for partial response maximum-likelihood (PRML) detection and crosstalk cancellation. In accrodance with the demand for increased recording density, 20 gigabyte (Gbyte) digital versatile disk (DVD) ROM channel is considered. Channel is modelled to be close to real optical channel using DIFFRACT$\^$TM/. After comparing the spectral characteristics of various PR polynomials, P(D)=1+D+D$^2$+D$^3$is proposed as a target PR. The performance of the system is illustrated under the condition that the readout signal is degraded by crosstalk, radial tilt and nonlinear distortions in optics. The experimental results show that crosstalk and nonlinear distortions degrade performance by about 2dB, respectively. We also show that when radial tilt is added to the crosstalk, the performance degradation assumes quite significant proprotions.

  • In this paper, a low voltage SRAM using double boosting scheme is described. A low supply voltage deteriorates the static noise margin (SNM) and the cell read-out current. For read/write operation, a selected word line and cell VDD bias are boosted in a different level using double boosting scheme. This increases not only the static noise margin but also the cell readout current at a low supply voltage. A low voltage SRAM with 32K ${\times}$ 8bit implemented in a 0.18um CMOS technology shows an access time of 26.1ns at 0.8V supply voltage.

  • We present a design study for a remote sensing camera system which can be operated in multi-channel mode simultaneously with several bandpass filters. The camera control electronics is based on the multiplexed driving concept, which can provide a variety of flexibility for system control parameters and its individual optimisation. The design can also be applied to any system with linear sensors or frame sensors according to its functional requirements. The system design parameters have been examined, including modification of driving waveforms for different types of sensors, waveforms for low-nosie readout circuit in analog chain, and synchronisation with other signal processing.

  • In this work, a new algorithm for canceling MRI artifact in the image plane is presented. In the conventional approach, the motions in the X(readout) direction and Y(the phase encoding) direction are estimated simultaneously. However, the feature of each X and Y directional motion is different. First, we notice that the X directional motion corresponds to a shift of the X directional spectrum of the MRI signal, and the non zero area of the spectrum just corresponds to X axis projected area of the density function. So the motion is estimated by tracing the edges of the spectrum, and the X directional motion is canceled by shifting the spectrum in inverse direction. Next, the Y directional motion is canceled using a new constraint, with which the motion component and the true image component can be separated. This algorithm is shown to be effective by simulations.

  • We report the operational highlights of KMTNet in the point of observing rate, image pre-processing and data reduction, observing run for each science program, and scientific publications performed in 2016. Major system upgrade has been conducted in the CCD camera and the wide field telescope optics: the post amp and readout electronics of the 18k Mosaic CCD camera at Siding Spring Observatory site has been fine tuned and the protected silver coat of the primary mirror has been replaced with the bare aluminium coat due to the degradation of reflectivity of the primary mirror surface. A plan of KMTNet observation system improvement for 2017 will be introduced in this talk.
