LC 공진형 압력 센서를 이용한 돼지 경골 동맥의 실시간 혈압 측정 (Real-time Blood Pressure Monitoring in Porcine Tibial Artery Using LC Resonant Pressure Sensor)

  • We have developed an implantable wireless sensor for real time pressure monitoring of blood circulation system. MEMS (micro-electro-mechanical system) technology was adopted as a sensor development method. The sensor is composed of photolithographically patterned inductors and a distributed capacitor in gap between the inductors. A resulting LC resonant system produces its resonant frequency in range of 269 to 284 MHz at 740 mmHg. To read the resonant frequency changed by blood pressure variation, we developed a custom readout system based on a network analyzer functionality. The bench-top testing of the pressure sensors showed good mechanical and electrical functionality. A sensor was implanted into tibial artery of farm pig, and interrogated wirelessly with accurate readings of blood pressure. After 45 days, the sensor's electrical response and histopathology were studied with good frequency reading and biocompatibility.

Character and Historical Consciousness in Thomas Hardy's The Mayor of Casterbridge

  • The essay attempts at a critical reading of Thomas Hardy's The Mayor of Casterbridge (1886) in terms of character and socio-cultural change. Juxtaposing the story of Michael Henchard's career with the social and economic changes in the agricultural town, it attempts to elaborate on the complex ways in which Hardy relates the old modes of life and thinking to the material culture. Though the novel is centered on the story of Henchard, the Henchard-Farfrae clash represents the conflict of "old" and "new" modes of socio-economic organization and consciousness. The story of the rustic man of character struggling with his contradictory traits of strong will-power and emotional collapse suggests that Hardy's literary representation of the rural community and the rustic protagonist is deeply rooted in historical reality. However, while there is the interlocking of the changes in personal fate and social change, the representation is a "reinvented" literary construction with complex mediation. Despite the narrator's emphasis on Henchard's immutability, peculiarity, and resilience, his character is, in a complex, mediated way, shaped by the material conditions of English rural community in the late 19th century. The mediating role of Elizabeth-Jane as a narrative resolution embodies Hardy's ambivalent historical position concerning the period undergoing change and conflict.

칼코게나이드 박막에 저장된 홀로그래픽 디지털 정보의 잡음 제거에 관한 연구 (Analysis of noise rejection of stored holographic digital data on the chalcogenide thin film)

  • The Analog data is impossible to perfect reconstruct original data at a hologram data storage because of noise such as cross talk. So it is necessary that data can be stored by digital signal unavoidably. Therefore this work deals with experiments from this point of view through writing & reading of digital data. We stored 256bit digital data at one point on As-Ge-Se-S chalcogenide thin film and we reconstruct original data of 100% through the specified algorithm such as the histogram equalization, the interactive correction, etc. This result shows that the data is able to reconstruct under relative low diffraction efficiency. As the result, we expect the possibility of chalcogenide thin film for HDDS as the analysis of the effective resolution refer to reconstruction rate and diffraction efficiency.

The Effects of Generative Concept Map on Science Learning Achievement and Cognitive Load

  • This study investigated the effect of generative concept maps according to learning achievements and cognitive load. A total of 78 students in the first grade of middle school participated in this study. Before the experimental treatment was implemented, students had to fill out a questionnaire assessing prior knowledge. The study was designed where all the students were presented the same learning contents regarding photosynthesis; however, the two experimental groups were provided with different concept map methods: a learner-generative concept map (GCM) and an instructor-provided concept map (PCM). GCM students were asked to make a concept map by themselves in small groups while they are reading material. PCM students were instructed to study in small groups in order to read the material; however, they were provided a concept map developed by their teacher. The control group (CG) had the teacher present the learning contents in traditional lecture format with no accompanying concept map. The results show that there were significant differences in the achievements among the groups. CG showed higher achievement than both the experimental groups. There was also a significant difference in cognitive load. Although the GCM group did not obtain higher achievement than the other groups, the GCM group showed higher mental effort and lower physical fatigue than the other groups. The GCM group might have invested more effort to find and connect ideas when drawing their concept map with peers which is unlike the conditions for the PCM group and CG. In conclusion, we should consider applying GCM in teaching and learning design in order to increase learning achievement and decrease extraneous cognitive load.

Pop Song을 이용한 고등학생의 영어 청취력 향상에 관한 연구 (A Study On Improving English Listening Comprehension Using Pop Songs)

  • Due to frequent international exchanges, there has been much emphasis on communication proficiency in foreign language education. However, when we look back upon teaching English in Korea over past years, we find that English teaching has been dominated mainly by Grammar-Translation Method, which makes teachers and students pay little attention to listening skill that is regarded as the basis of communication proficiency. Recently many English teachers have shown their interest in listening skill, so they come to use the textbook record tapes to improve listening skill. But listening training by textbook record tapes seems to make students feel bored. So the purpose of this study is to suggest an effective way of improving listening skill by means of Pop Songs that the students are indulged in. The processes of this study consist of three stages : 1) listening to songs, 2) explanation about structures and vocabularies in songs, 3) filling in blanks while listening. The subjects in this study are freshmen 88 students in girls' High School They are grouped into two : one is experimental group and the other control group. Among the subjects, the former have been taught by the lesson plan using pop songs, while the latter by the lesson plan using textbook record tapes. The experiment lasts about 9 months (from March to November, l994) The data for analyzing the study results have been collected from two kinds of tests : one is listening test and the other comprehensive test. The hypothesises of this study areas follows : 1) Depending on hearing materials (experimental material vs traditional material), there will be a difference in scores of listening skills between EG (experimental group) and CG (control group), 2) Depending on the interest on pop songs, there will be a difference in scores of hearing skills in CG, 3) Depending on hearing material. there will be a difference in scores of overall English skills between EG and CG, 4) Improvement in listening skill will give influence on the overall English scores. The findings of this study indicate that pop songs are effective to improve students' listening skill, that students' interest in the hearing material is important, and that listening skill is closely related to other skills, especially reading skill. It can be concluded that English teachers should make efforts to find the suitable listening materials which will help students to improve their listening proficiency effectively.

고려인삼의 Ribulose-1,5-Bisphosphate Carboxylase Small Subunit(rbcS) 유전자의 분리 및 특성분석 (Molecular Cloning of a cDNA Encoding Ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate Carboxylase Small Subunit (rbcS) from Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer)

  • 고려 인삼(Panax ginseng)의 뿌리로부터 ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase small subunit(rbcS) 유전자를 선발하여 sequence 분석을 실시하였다. 고려 인삼 rbcS cDNA는 790 bp 염기로 구성되어 있으며, 183개의 아미노산(pI 8.37)을 코드하는 549 bp의 ORF를 가지고 있고 단백질의 분자량은 20.5 kDa으로 추정되었다. 인삼 rbcS는 기존에 보고된 것과 유사성을 나타내었으며, Helianthus annuus(CAA68490)에서 분리된 것과 $78\%$의 높은 상동성을 보였다. 기존에 데이터베이스에 축적되어 있는 다른 식물체로부터 분리된 rbcS와 아미노산 서열을 비교한 결과 인삼의 ybcS는 H. annuus (CAA68490), C. morifolium (AAO25119), L. sativa (Q40250)와 밀접한 유연관계에 있는 것으로 조사되었다.

고유전율에 적합한 목걸이 형태의 생목용 UHF RFID 태그 안테나 설계 (Necklace Type UHF RFID Tag Antenna for the Material with High Dielectric Constant for a Tree)

  • 본 논문에서는 고유전룰인 생목에 직접 사용가능한 목걸이용 UHF RFID 태그를 설계 하였다. 일반적인 RFID 태그 안테나는 고유전율인 물체나 철재에 사용하면 전기적인 특성이 영향을 받으므로, 태그 안테나의 임피던스 값이 변하게 되어 태그 안테나의 특성이 변화하여 리더기에 의해 인식이 되지 않는다. 따라서 이러한 영향을 고려하여 생목에 걸을 수 있는 UHF RFID 태그 안테나를 제작하였으며, 수목관리용으로 나무에 걸이용 이름표를 제작 하였다. 태그의 인식 거리는 고유전율 물체에서 4~5m로 중장거리의 인식거리를 갖는다. 이 개발된 태그는 여러 산업분야에 고유전율 물질에 적용이 가능하며 환자관리용, U-healthcare용 목걸이 형태의 UHF RFID 태그로도 사용이 가능하다.

대학도서관의 수업·학습 활동 지원 역할에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Roles of Academic Library for Supporting Class and Learning Activities in Korea)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 국내 대학도서관이 이용자를 위한 수업 및 학습활동 지원을 강화할 수 있는 방안을 제시하는 것이다. 이를 위하여, 전국 대학도서관의 발전계획서를 수집하고 발전계획서에 나타난 수업 및 학습 활동 지원 계획을 분석하였다. 연구의 결과, 가장 많은 도서관들이 '학습자료 확충'을 중시하여 발전계획서에서 추진계획을 밝힌 것으로 나타났다. 다음으로 '독서교육 및 독서프로그램 확대', '전자자료 확충', '특성화자료 확충' 순으로 실행계획을 제시하였다. 이 연구는 대학도서관의 수업 및 학습활동 지원 강화 방안으로 '수용자 중심의 장서개발 및 학습자료 확충', '빅데이터를 활용한 도서관 서비스 활성화', '장애인 및 외국인 학생을 위한 포용서비스 확대'를 제시하였다.

재중 조선인의 조선문(한글) 잡지 발간 상황과 발전에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Publishing Situation and Developmental Plans of Korean Magazine of Joseon People(Korean) in China)

  • 이 연구는 재중 조선인의 조선문 잡지 출간상황과 발전방안을 살핀 것이다. 재중 조선문 잡지는 중국 해방 후부터 현재까지 20여종이 출간되었다. 이들 잡지는 대체로 정치적인 영향이나 독자층을 고려해서 정간, 복간, 개명 등의 변화를 가져왔다. 또한, 주제로 구분해 보면 정치, 문학, 예술분야의 잡지가 주종을 이룬다. 한편 잡지발간의 어려움의 요인은 조선족 인구감소 인구이동. 중국 정부의 지원축소와 폐지, 재료비 인상 등을 들 수 있다. 이를 극복하기 위해서는 한국어 독자층을 확대하고 2개 연어(중국어-한국어)로 구성된 잡지를 발간하며, 중국 내외의 활발한 문화교류를 개척하며, 한국으로부터의 다양한 지원이 강구되어야 한다.

종이같은 E-ink 전자책의 감성연구 (Emotion Research of Paper-like E-ink E-book)

  • 전자책이 널리 보급됨에 따라 반사형 디스플레이 기반인 단말기의 수요도 증가하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 책을 읽을 수 있는 종이책, E-ink 전자책, LCD 태블릿의 감성과 독서 상태를 비교했다. E-ink 전자책에 대한 소비자의 감성반응을 알아보기 위해 감성평가 후 독서 장치의 종류에 따른 가독성, 선호도 실험을 수행하였다. 실험은 화면으로만 판단할 수 있도록 마스크를 제작했으며 컨텐츠의 내용만 다르게 설정하고 모든 조건과 환경을 동일하게 하였다. 감성반응 파악을 위한 감성어휘 실험에서는 의미분별법을 활용한 결과 LCD보다 E-ink 전자책을 종이와 가깝게 느끼는 것으로 나타났다. 가독성에 대한 선호도를 알아보기 위한 실험에서는 자기보고식 설문을 한 결과 LCD보다는 E-ink 전자책을 선호하였으며 E-ink 전자책보다는 종이를 선호하거나 비슷하게 선호하는 것으로 나타났다. 사용자들이 E-ink 전자책을 종이와 비슷한 감성을 갖고 있으므로 E-ink 전자책이 종이책을 대체할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.
