"과학교육론" 과목의 교수모형과 교재개발연구 (An Instructional Planning and Reading Material Development for the "Foundation of Science Education" Course)

  • There haw been some courses related to science education for the graduate students, but almost the study for no instructional model and reading material development haw been pursunded in Korea. This study intended to discuss the discipline character of science education research for the systematic survey of concepts, principles and theories related to science education as the first put task, and designed an instructional model of the introductory survey course of science education at graduate level, and then proposed a developmental plan of a reading material for the course teaching aid. The main work of the study was to survey the foreign literature, but the subjective analysis of researcher's courses work during graduate study in abroard and some courses offered to undergraduate and graduate students in Korea by this researcher was quite helpful, even though which was not a strictly designed experimental research. Later it was found that this kind of study was not fitted to the traditional research style but worth while to try for the research in and teaching of "science education" as an area of discipline and professional activity.

The Impact of Emotional Intelligence and Self-Esteem on Internet and Smart Phone Addiction, Sports Activities, and Reading of Youth

  • In the rapid industrialization and civilization, the material and the life have been enriched, but smart phone and the Internet are spreading and the spirit of Korean modern people is falling into addiction without knowing themselves. In particular, according to the recent Internet addiction reported by the National Statistical Office, "the Internet addiction rate in 2014 is the highest among adolescents to 19 years old." This study empirically analyzed whether internet addiction, smart phone addiction, sports activities and reading affect adolescents' emotional intelligence and self-esteem. Regression analysis showed that internet addiction, smart phone addiction and sports activities affected emotional intelligence and reading did not affect. Also, internet addiction, smart phone addiction and sports activities were found to affect self-esteem and reading did not affect. Reading and emotional intelligence, reading and self-esteem seem to require further study in the future.

읽기 형태, 줄 길이, 줄 간격이 한글 웹 문서의 가독성에 미치는 영향 (The Influences of Reading Type, Line Length, and Interlinear Spacing on the Legibility of Korean Web Documents)

  • Many people get plenty of information from World Wide Web, and the study of the factors that affect on reading task on web browser is presenting important issue. But domestic studies on legibility of Korean on web environment were relatively poor and the study about suitable text layout for skimming wasn't carried out also. At this point, this study was performed to investigate the effects of two types of reading, three levels of line length, and three levels of interlinear spacing on comprehension and reading rate when subjects read the materials on web browser. Reading speed, error rate, subjective preference and SACL(Stress and Arousal Checklist) evaluation were measured to evaluate the effects. Eighteen volunteer subjects participated in eighteen web document sessions with two different reading types, three different line lengths, and three different interlinear spacings. Statistical results from objective and subjective evaluations indicate that 50 characters per line of line length and 100 percents of interlinear spacing improved reading rate, overall error rates were reduced when reading normally, and SACL measures were increased at fast reading type. Consequently, in order to design text layout to retrieve information in WWW environment effectively, just applying guidelines of traditional printed material is not proper. Therefore, it is effective to consider reading type, line length, and interlinear spacing. Implications of these results and suggestions for the further study are also addressed.

학습자의 수준에 따른 의미단위별 앞에서부터 읽기 파워포인트 프로그램 개발 (The Development of the Powerpoint Program for Progressive Reading by the Sense Group according to the Student's Level)

  • In the comprehension of English texts, Korean students generally try to translate English into Korean in accordance with the word order of Korean language. As a result, the comprehension of English texts is made in a regressive way, which results in slower reading. In order to enhance the reading speed, it is necessary for students to practice progressive reading. Also, while reading English texts, most readers' eyes tend to look at one word at a time, which actually cuts down on the reading speed. Reading by the sense group of as many words as possible at a glance, however, can help a reader more efficiently in less time. This research aims at developing the Powerpoint program for progressive reading by the sense group according to the student's level. In this program, as for methodology, the technique of rooking it fade-away is introduced to force a reader's eyes to move fast. Through this technique, it is possible to make a line of the texts disappear on the screen and make another line appear, which enables a reader to sweep the words across each and every line of the reading material smoothly without regression.

Eye Dominance and Reading Speed

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate eye dominance and reading performance based on eye movements and reading speed. Methods: The eye dominance of 30 subjects was determined using the sighting test (hole formed by hands). The subjects were asked to read the numerical reading material aloud in English from left to right and from right to left at random. The number of saccades, regressions, and inter-fixations per minute was calculated using Visual-Oculography (VOG) and the reading speed was recorded as number of characters per minute using stopwatch. Results: No significant differences in reading speed among right and left eye dominant subjects as they read from left to right and right to left directions (p>0.05). However, left eye dominant subjects were found to read significantly faster compared to right eye dominant subjects in both directions of reading (p<0.05). In term of eye movement patterns, no significant differences in saccades, regressions, and inter-fixations per minute were found between subjects with right eye dominance and left eye dominance for both reading directions (p>0.05). Conclusions: Reading performance in term of eye movement and speed was not affected by eye dominance, but subjects with left eye dominance read faster than subjects with right eye dominance.

여고생들을 대상으로 한 성장시기별, 자료유형별 독서량 간의 상관관계 연구 (Correlation of Reading Quantities in Developmental Period and Reading Material Type-Centered on Jeonju Girls' High School Freshmen)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 여학생들이 어릴 때부터 여고생 시절까지 성장하면서 각 시기별로 읽는 도서의 양 사이에는 어느 정도의 상관관계가 있는지, 또 각 자료유형별 상관관계는 어떠한지에 대하여 밝히고 이 결과를 대학생들을 대상으로 한 연구내용과 비교하여 신뢰성 있는 이론을 창출하는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 설문지를 활용한 서베이 연구방법을 사용하여 성장시기별 자료유형별 독서량 등을 조사하고 통계처리 방법을 이용하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과 특정 시기에 특정 매체(일반도서, 만화, 잡지)를 많이 이용하면 다른 시기에도 동일 매체를 많이 이용할 가능성이 높고 어린 시절 만화의 독서량이 많은 학생들은 상급학교에서 일반도서를 읽을 가능성이 높은 것으로 밝혀졌다.

2009 개정 과학교육과정에 따른 초등학교 과학 교과서의 읽기자료 분석 (Analysis of the Reading Materials in Elementary School Science Textbooks developed under the 2009 Revised National Science Curriculum)

  • In this study, the characteristics of the reading materials in elementary school science textbooks developed under the 2009 revised National Science Curriculum were investigated. The criteria for classifying the reading materials were the types of topic, purpose, students' activity, and presentation. The visual images in the reading materials were also analyzed from the viewpoint of type, role, caption type, and proximity type. The results indicated that the number of the reading materials in the 2009 revised science textbooks decreased compared to that of the 2007 revised science textbooks. It was also found that the frequencies of the reading materials expanding concepts of the text and/or requiring corresponding students' inquiry increased. More visual images were used in the reading materials of the 2009 revised science textbooks. However, several limitations were still found to exist; most visual images were illustration and/or picture; many visual images were presented without a caption; there was a problem in the proximity of visual image to text.

성장시기별, 자료별 독서량 간의 상관관계에 대한 연구 (Correlation of Reading Quantities in Developmental Period and Reading Material Type)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 어릴 때부터 대학생시절까지 성장하면서 각 시기별로 읽는 도서의 양 사이에는 어느정도의 상관관계가 있는지, 또 각 자료별 상관관계는 어떠한지에 대하여 밝히는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 설문지를 활용한 서베이 연구방법을 사용하여 시기별 자료별 독서량 등을 조사하고 통계처리 방법을 이용하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과는 다음과 같다: 1) 대체로 특정시기의 일반도서 독서량은 다른 시기의 일반도서 독서량과 상관관계가 높다. 2) 특정시기의 만화 독서량은 다른 시기의 만화 독서량과 상관관계가 높다. 3) 특정 시기의 잡지 독서량은 다른 시기의 잡지 독서량과 상관관계가 높다. 4) 중학교 재학시의 자료별 독서량과 고등학교 재학시의 자료별 독서량 간의 상관관계가 높다.

공공도서관 아동열람실의 환경행태특성평가에 관한 연구 (Evaluation of Environmental Behavioral Characteristics of Children's Reading Room in Public Libraries)

  • This study examined the arrangement features in public library infant and children's reading room and provide basic material in after children's reading room space planning by studying the space features, which are valued in the environment behavioral point of view. We limited the check list to libraries built after year 2000 that are located around Seoul and from 5 libraries with children reading rooms. After analyzing items by the space features, considering children's environment behavior, pleasantness was most favorable, children scale, safety, comfortableness, flexibility followed in order. It shows the basic surroundings and the furniture that composes the children's reading room are relatively favorable, but in the other hand, it seems that reading rooms lack the ability to form an environment that can adapt to children's growth, inducting new activity areas flexibly or rearrange them. there are limitations to getting the children's needs objectively and significantly, so survey research, interview research and not only studying Korean's but comparing and analyzing with foreign country's cases will be needed.

커튼월 관련 자재에서 RFID 적용을 위한 인식 성능 테스트 (Reading Performance Test of RFID Technology for Curtain Wall Material)

  • 최근 RFID기술은 산업 전반에서 다양한 형태로 적용되고 있으며, 국내 건설 산업 분야에서도 현장 노무관리 및 레미콘, 철골, 커튼월 등의 물류관리를 위한 적용 기술 개발 및 연구가 활발히 수행되고 있다. 그러나 RFID 기술은 주변 환경 및 자재의 특성에 따라 인식성능의 차이를 보임에도 불구하고, RFID 기술 활용은 이론적인 인식 성능에 근거한 적용방안을 제시하고 있다. 본 연구는 이론적 인식거리, 무반사실 테스트, 현장 테스트를 통해 RFID 기술별 인식 성능 테스트를 하였으며, 일반적으로 현장에서의 인식거리는 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 커튼월의 주요 자재인 알루미늄과 유리를 대상으로 정확한 인식 성능 테스트를 실시 비교하였으며, 유리면이나 금속면에 일반 라벨 태그를 부착하였을 경우 유리 전용 태그나 금속 태그를 부착하였을 때에 비해서 인식이 불가능하거나 인식 거리 감소가 큰 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 위와 같은 테스트를 통해 커튼월에 RFID 기술 적용 시 인식 성능을 최적화하기 위한 고려 요소를 제시하고자 한다.
