  • Chemical vapor deposition of ATO from SnCl4-SbCl5-H2O gas mixture was investigated with thermodynamic and experimental analyses. Electrical conductivity of the ATO film was much improved under deposition conditions of low input-gas ratio, Psbcl5/Psbcl4. This increase of the conductivity was attributed to donor electrons produced mainly by the pentavalent Sb ions in SnO2 lattice. However high input-gas ratio conditions produced an ATO film consisting of a mixture of SnO2 and very fine Sb2O5 phase. It was found that the deterioration of electrical conductivity and optical transmission of the film was caused by the deposition of fine Sb2O5 phase in the SnO2 matrix.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate nonlinear behavior and estimate ultimate resistance of the wall structure against seismic loading. Experimental data for RC coupling elements are used for specifying the strength deterioration and stiffness degradation factor of hysteretic model. Modified coupling element models are used in the push over analysis and time history analysis. In the time history analysis, three earthquake waves are used in the analysis and their peak ground accelerations are changed to be 0.2g. The conclusions of this study are as follows : (1) In the push over analysis, yielding of coupling elements occurred at lower story with small story drift ratio as 0.3%. (2) In the time history analysis, the story drift ratio is sufficient for the requirement of Korean Code, But coupling elements at most stories of the buildings occurred yielding. i. e. the earthquake resistant capacity of shear wall structures is not sufficient at 0.2g.

  • Development of the construction industry generally exhausts natural aggregate. Hence it is problem to the lack of supply and quality deterioration, so the resource saving and protection of environment is made an effort through recycling by-product. This study presents that fundamental properties of concrete which used cooper slag as alternate sand of low fineness modulus and plan of cooper slag as concrete aggregate. Testing factors are concrete's slump, air contents, unit weight and compressive strength. The results of this study are as follows; (1) Concrete slump is generally satisfied with the condition but is inferior to the others in substitution rates 30%. Also air contents are 3.1-4.1% and go up according to increase substitution rate. (2) Unit weight increase in 1.1% as the mixing ratio of cooper slag argument 10%. (3) compressive strength of cooper slag concrete is similar to plain and especially higher 11-15% in W/C 45%, 50%. So it seems that aggregate mixed cooper slag is suitable to low water-cement ratio mixture.

Experimental evaluation on the seismic performance of high strength thin-walled composite members accounting for sectional aspect ratio effect

  • This study focuses on the experimental evaluation of the flexural-torsional performance of high strength thin-walled composite members. A series of tests on composite members with various sectional aspect ratios subjected to eccentric cyclic loads were conducted. Test results show that the composite member's torsional strength could be approximated using a series of linear segments and evaluated using the superposition of the component steel and reinforced concrete responses. It is also validated from the tests that the strength deterioration of members subjected to combined loads is closely related to the aspect ratios of the sections. An interaction expression between the bending and torsion for high strength thin-walled composite members is proposed for engineering practice references.

  • This study compared the compressive strength and healing strength to confirm the self-healing performance of mortar incorporating Bioinspired Self-healing Capsule (BSC) into cement composites as part of a study to mitigate the problem of durability deterioration due to cracks in concrete structures. As a result of the evaluation, it was found that the healing performance decreased as the mixing ratio of the BSC capsule increased.

  • Most recent seismic design codes include Response Modification Factor(RMF) for determining equivalent lateral forces. The RMF is used to reduce the linear elastic design spectrum to account for the energy dissipation capacity, overstrength and damping of the structure. In this study the RMF is defined as the ratio of the absolute maximum linear elastic base shear to the absolute maximum nonlinear base shear of a structure subject to the same earthquake accelerogram. This study investigates the effect of hysteretic model, as well as target ductility ratio and natural period on duct based RMF using nonlinear dynamic analyses of the SDOF systems. Special emphasis is given to the effects of the hysteretic characteristics such as strength deterioration and stiffness degradation. Results indicate that RMFs are dependent on ductility, period and hysteretic model.

Sulfate Attack and the Role of Cement Compositions

  • This paper presents an experimental study of the sulfate resistance of mortars and pastes exposed to sodium sulfate solutions up to one year. In order to check deterioration modes due to sulfate attack, the sodium sulfate solution was varied at three concentration steps (3,380, 10,140 and 33,800 ppm of $SO_4^{2-}$ ions), and maintained at ambient temperature. The tests include a visual examination, expansion and compressive strength loss measurements as well as x-ray diffraction tests. The experimental data indicated that the use of cement with a low $C_3A$ content and low silicate ratio has a beneficial effect on the sulfate attack of mortars. In contrast, the mortars with a high $C_3A$ content and high silicate ratio became severely degraded due to the formation of ettringite, gypsum and/or thaumasite in the cement matrix.

  • In this study, to confirm corrosion of reinforced concrete affected by carbonation, chloride ion diffusion, absorption ratio, air permeability, measured carbonation velocity coefficient, chloride ion diffusion coefficient, absorption coefficient, air permeability coefficient. Corrosion velocity under environment of complex deterioration. And than compared corrosion velocity with these coefficients. As the results of this study, the correlation coefficient between chloride ion diffusion coefficients and absorption coefficient was revealed that it is very high. As well, an increase in carbonation, chloride ion diffusion also increases corrosion velocity. It showed that corrosion velocity was affected by the carbonation, chloride ion diffusion, absorption ratio, air permeability. Generally, data on the development of these coefficient made with none, organic B, organic A, inorganic B, and inorganic A is shown. It showed that coating of surface prevent steel bar from deteriorating.

마찰과 연삭 도정배분에 의한 쌀의 도정특성 (Milling Characteristics of Milled Rice According to Milling Ratio of Friction and Abrasive Milling)

  • This study was performed to investigate the optimum abrasive and friction milling ratio. This was accomplished by determining changes in the quality, such as whiteness, moisture content, broken kernel, unstripped embryo rate, and surface characteristics or milling difference, during an abrasive and friction based milling process. When only abrasive was milled, the increase of whiteness was fast in the first milling, whereas the increasing rate of whiteness was small in the latter milling. The decreasing rate of moisture content and broken kernel increased as the friction milling ratio was increased. Combining with the friction milling was considered a suitable method because the unstripped embryo rate was high only when abrasive milling was used. In the case of a high abrasive milling ratio, a significant milling difference was observed in the initial milling. This indicated that the milling difference was not completely eliminated despite using friction milling in the latter milling. Consequently, it was necessary to minimize the milling difference in the initial milling. When milling quality was synthetically considered, the abrasive milling ratio was varied from 20~50%. When the abrasive milling ratio was greater than 40%, the external quality of the rice milled deteriorated since holes and defects generated on the surface in the initial milling were not removed. Due to this deterioration in surface characteristics, an abrasive milling ratio of 30% was identified as a suitable level.

압축응력이 인가된 콘크리트의 열화제어를 위한 표면도막공법의 효과 (Effect of Coating System to Prevent the Deterioration of Concrete Subjected to Compressive Stress)

  • 콘크리트 표면에 존재하는 균열은 염소이온의 침투에 대한 빠른 침투 통로가 되어 내구성능을 저하시킬 수 있다. 균열을 제어하기 위하여 설계적 측면에서 높은 철근비로 균열폭을 감소시킬 수는 있으나, 이러한 균열이 실질적으로 내구성을 저하시키는데에 따른 검토 및 내구성 향상을 유도할 수 있는 방법이 필요하다. 표면도막공법은 균열폭이 작은 경우에 균열을 실링하여 염소이온 침투를 차단하는데 가장 간단한 방법중의 하나이며, 경제성 대비 성능도 만족할 만 하다. 그래서 표면도막공법이 콘크리트와 균열을 함침하여 유해물질의 침투로 인한 철근의 부식을 제어하기 위한 유효성을 검토하는 연구가 필요하다. 본 연구는 표면도막공법으로 압축응력 인가로 인한 미세균열을 통한 염소이온 침투의 제어 가능성을 검토하고자 하였다. 실험결과는 염소이온은 압축응력 인가율 50~70%, 탄산화는 70~80%의 범위에서 임계응력이 존재하는 것으로 나타났는데, 이 임계치 이상을 초과하게 되면 상대적으로 심각한 열화가 진전되는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한, 표면도막공법은 균열치료효과를 얻는데 유효한 것으로 판단되었다.
