Conventional noise reduction filtering schemes realize limited improvements of the peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) in the low-level noisy images. The flatness degree and the edge information are effectively used to estimate the noise volume. We propose a noise estimator for reducing noise in the AWGN (additive white gaussian noise) corrupted images using three intermediate image maps (FGM(flatness gray map), FIM(flatness index map), NEM(noise estimate map)). The proposed noise estimator is fed into the conventional noise reduction filters as a pre-processor. The performance of noise reduction is tested in the various AWGN corrupted images.

This paper presents an efficient and simple hardware design of signal to noise ratio (SNR) estimator for DVB-S2 system. The estimator investigates the distribution of the received symbols by simply using two comparators and a counter, and calculates the address of an LUT where the corresponding SNR value is located. In this paper, we demonstrate the functional and timing simulation results of the FPGA implementation of proposed structure.

So far in a nonparametric regression model one of the interesting problems is estimating the error variance. In this paper we propose an estimator of the mean of the squared functions which is the numerator of SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio). To estimate SNR, the mean of the squared function should be firstly estimated. Our focus is on estimating the amplitude, that is the mean of the squared functions, in a nonparametric regression using a simple linear regression model with the quadratic form of observations as the dependent variable and the function of a lag as the regressor. Our method can be extended to nonparametric regression models with multivariate functions on unequally spaced design points or clustered designed points.

In this paper, we develop Bayesian inference of the finite population mean with the assumption of posterior linearity rather than normality of the superpopulation in the presence of auxiliary information under the balanced loss function. We compare the performance of the optimal Bayes estimator under the balanced loss function with ones of the classical ratio estimator and the usual Bayes estimator in terms of the posterior expected losses, risks and Bayes risks.

현재 사용하고 있는 입목(立木) 재적표(材積表)는 대부분 전국 공용으로 제작되어 있기 때문에, 특정 지역에 적용할 경우 재적을 과소(過小) 또는 과대(過大) 추정(推定)하는 문제점을 가지고 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 문제점을 가지고 있는 현존(現存) 낙엽송 재적표를 보정(補正)하여 특정 지역(地域)의 입목(立木) 재적(材積) 추정(推定)에 직접 적용(適用)할 수 있는 방법(方法)을 제시(提示)하였다. 이를 위하여 먼저 홍천지역의 낙엽송 표본자료(標本資料)에 대하여 추정모형(推定模型)을 이용하여 가장 적합(適合)한 재적식을 작성(作成)하고, 그 재적식으로부터 추정된 지역 재적과 전국 공용(共用)인 재적표(材積表)의 값의 관계를 지방적(地方的) 재적표(材積表) 작성에 의한 직경별(直徑別) 재적(材積)으로 비교(比較)하였다. 지역(地域) 보정(補正)을 위한 관계식은 평균비(平均比) 추정량(推定量)(ratio-of-means estimator)에 의하여 추정(推定)된 홍천과 전국의 낙엽송 재적의 평균비(平均比)를 이용(利用)하여 제시(提示)하였다. 홍천 지역의 낙엽송 입목(立木) 재적(材積)은 평균비(平均比) 추정량(推定量)에 의하여 V홍천=1.078 V재적표로 추정(推定)할 수 있었다. 이 보정식은 기존(旣存)의 재적표(材積表)를 이용하여 간단하고 정밀(精密)하게 홍천지역의 낙엽송 입목 재적을 직접 추정(推定)할 수 있는 것으로 판명(判明)되었다.

왜도가 심한 사업체 조사에서는 모집단의 일부를 제외하고 표본을 추출하는 방법인 절사표본추출법이 자주 사용된다. 절사층의 경우 표본 관리가 어렵고 조사비용이 많이 들기 때문에 이를 제외한 조사를 실시함으로써 조사의 효율을 높일 수 있다. 그러나 전체 모집단 추정을 위해서는 절사층의 정확한 총합 추정이 매우 중요하다. 최근 Hwang과 Shin (2013)은 Lavallee와 Hidiroglou (1988)가 제안한 LH 알고리즘을 이용하여 표본층을 층화한 후 표본층에서 얻어진 정보와 절사층에서 얻어진 정보를 결합한 복합추정량을 제안하였다. 본 논문에서는 비용함수를 고려한 새로운 표본 설계를 제안하고, 이를 위한 새로운 복합추정량을 제안하였다. 모의실험과 실제 자료 분석을 통하여 본 논문에서 제안한 복합추정량의 우수성을 확인하였다.

DS-CDMA 시스템에서 수용 용량을 증가시키기 위해서는 전력 효율적인 전송과 수신 방식을 이용하여야 한다. 본 논문에서는 M진 직교 신호화를 적용한 DS-CDMA 시스템에서 동기 김파를 고려하였으며, 이를 위한 채널 추정기로서 다단 판정 지원 방식을 제안하였다. 다단 판정 지원 방식은 기존의 판정 지원 동기 검파기의 최종 판정을 또 다시 채널 추정기에서 사용하여 더 나은 추정치를 얻을 수 있다는 사실에 기초하여 전송 심볼 판정과 채널 추정을 번갈아 가며 사용하는 방식이다. 시뮬레이션을 통해 제안된 다단 판정 지원 동기 검파 방식이 시변율이 빠르고 다이버시티 차수가 높은 채널에서 신호 대 잡음비가 낮은 경우에 기존의 판정 지원 동기 검파기보다 특히 더 높은 성능 이득을 얻을 수 있음을 보였다.

In this paper, we consider estimators and a condence interval for a reliability in two independent right truncated Rayleigh distributions and consider the density of a ratio in two independent right truncated Rayleigh distributions. And we obtain the density of an estimator for a changing point in the density of a ratio in two independent right truncated Rayleigh distributions.

We shall consider estimations of an exponetiated parameter of the exponentiated Pareto distribution with known scale and threshold parameters. A quotient distribution of two independent exponentiated Pareto random variables is obtained. We also derive the distribution of the ratio of two independent exponentiated Pareto random variables.

This paper deals with the problem of testing for the existence of change in mean and estimating the change-point when the data are from the exponential distributions. The likelihood ratio test statistic and Gombay and Horvath (1990) test statistic are compared in a power study when there exists one change-point in the exponential means. Also the change-point estimator using the likelihood ratio and the change-point estimators based on Gombay and Horvath (1990) statistic are compared for their detecting capability via simulation.
