자가 치아 이식술에 사용되는 Computer Aided Rapid Prototyping model(CARP model)의 실제 치아에 대한 오차

  • Objective : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the dimensional errors between real tooth, 3D CT image and CARP model. Materials and Methods : Two maxilla and two mandible block bones with intact teeth were taken from two cadavers. Computed tomography was taken either in dry state and in wet state. After then, all teeth were extracted and the dimensions of the real teeth were measured using a digital caliper at mesio-distal and bucco-lingual width both in crown and cervical portion. 3D CT image was generated using the V-works $4.0^{TM}$ (Cybemed Inc., Seoul, Korea) software. Twelve teeth were randomly selected for CARP model fabrication. All the measurements of 3D Ct images and CARP models were made in the same manner of the real tooth group. Dimensional errors between real tooth, 3D CT image model and CARP model was calculated. Results : 1) Average of absolute error was 0.199 mm between real teeth and 3D CT image model, 0.169 mm between 3D CT image model and CARP model and 0.291 mm between real teeth and CARP model, respectively. 2) Average size of 3D CT image was smaller than real teeth by 0.149 mm and that of CARP model was smalier than 3D CT image model by 0.067mm. Conclusion : Within the scope of this study, CARP model with the 0.291 mm average of absolute eror can aid to enhance the success rate cf autogenous tooth transplantation due to the increased accuracy of recipient bone and donor tooth.

  • We investigated the role of the capping layers in the formation of the cobalt silicide in Co/Si systems with TiN and Ti capping layers and without capping layers. The Co/Si interfacial reactions and the phase transformations by the rapid thermal annealing (RTA) processes were observed by sheet resistance measurements, XRD, SIMS and TEM analyses for the clean silicon substrate as well as for the chemically oxidized silicon substrate by $H_2SO_4$. We observed the retardation of the cobalt disilicide formation in the Co/Si system with Ti capping layers. In the case of Co/$SiO_2$/Si system, cobalt silicide was formed by the Co/Si reaction due to with the dissociation of the oxide layer by the Ti capping layers.

  • The surface roughnesses of titanium silicide films and the diffusion behaviours of dopants in single crystal and polycrystalline silicon substrates durng titanium silicide formation by rapid thermal annealing(RTA) of sputter deposited Ti-filicide film from the composite $TiSi_{2.6}$ target were investigated by the secondary ion mass spectrometry(SIMS), a four-point probe, X-ray diffraction, and surface roughness measurements. The as-deposited films were amorphous but film prepared on single silicon substrate crystallized to the orthorhombic $TiSi_2$(C54 structure) upon rapid thermal annealing(RTA) at $800^{\circ}C$ for 20sec. There was no significant out-diffusion of dopants from both single crystal and polycrystalline silicon substrate into titanum silicide layers during annealing. Most of the implanted dopants piled up near the titanium silicide/silicon interface. The surface roughnesses of titanium silicide films were in the range between 16 and 22nm.

Sustainable Development of Palm Oil: Synthesis and Electrochemical Performance of Corrosion Inhibitors

  • Palm oil production is among the highest worldwide, and it has been mainly used in the food industry and other commodities. Currently, a lot of palm oil production has been destined for the synthesis of biodiesel; however, its use in applications other than the food industry has been questioned. Thereby for a sustainable development, in this paper the use of palm oil of low quality for corrosion inhibitors synthesis is proposed. The performance of the synthesized inhibitors was evaluated by using electrochemical techniques such as open circuit potential measurements, linear polarization resistance and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The results indicate that the fatty amides from palm oil are excellent corrosion inhibitors with protection efficiencies greater than 98%. Fatty amides molecules act as cathodic inhibitors decreasing the anodic dissolution of iron. When fatty amides are added, a rapid decrease in the corrosion rate occurs due to the rapid formation of a molecular film onto carbon steel surface. During the adsorption process of the inhibitor a self-organization of the hydrocarbon chains takes place forming a tightly packed hydrophobic film. These results demonstrate that the use of palm oil for the production of green inhibitors promises to be an excellent alternative for a sustainable use of the palm oil production.

Sphenoid bone changes in rapid maxillary expansion assessed with cone-beam computed tomography

  • Objective: Rapid maxillary expansion (RME) is used to expand the maxilla and increase arch perimeter; yet, there are few reports on its effects on the sphenoid bone. With cone-beam computed topography (CBCT), it is possible to visualize sphenoid bone changes. The purpose of this study was to investigate sphenoid bone changes observed in conjunction with RME treatments, using CBCT. Methods: Sixty patients (34 women and 26 men, aged 11-17 years) underwent RME as part of their orthodontic treatment. Patients were randomly assigned to one of three groups: a tooth-anchored group, a bone-anchored group, or a control group. Initial CBCT scans were performed preceding the RME treatment ($T_1$) and again directly after the completion of expansion ($T_2$). Statistical analysis included ANOVA, descriptive statistics, and the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). Results: The reliability of the landmark location was at least 0.783, and the largest ICC mean measurement error was 2.32 mm. With regard to distances, the largest change was 0.78 mm, which was not statistically significant (p > 0.05). Statistical significance was established in patient groups of the same sex and treatment type for the following distance measurements: right anterior lateral pterygoid plate to the right edge of the hypophyseal fossa ($d_2$), anterior distance between the medial pterygoid plates ($d_4$), and anterior distance between the left medial and lateral plates ($d_8$). Conclusions: In this study, there were no clinically significant changes in the sphenoid bone due to RME treatments regardless of sex or treatment type.

Response of Tide-Well on Seiche (부진동에 대한 검조우물의 반응 특성)

  • The advantage of tide-well system with an intake pipe near the sea floor is that it can record not only tide but also harbour oscillation. tsunami. rapid change of tide height when a storm was causing rapid fluctuations in sea level. Consequently record of harbour oscillation may be extracted from tidal records by removing the predicted tide and then correcting for the attenuation caused by the tide-well system. The response of tide-well with intake pipe to seiche was examined by in situ measurements for Mukho tidal station. The well constant was also computed hydraulically on the basis of the structure of the tide gage system. It has been found that the response coefficient of the Mukho tidal station was 0.01. The tide records can be used for the determination of mean sea levels for surveying purposes. as the response of tide-well system can be estimated.

The Effects of Thermal Decomposition of Tetrakis-ethylmethylaminohafnium (TEMAHf) Precursors on HfO2 Film Growth using Atomic Layer Deposition

  • The ALD process is an adequate technique to meet the requirements that come with the downscaling of semiconductor devices. To obtain thin films of the desired standard, it is essential to understand the thermal decomposition properties of the precursors. As such, this study examined the thermal decomposition properties of TEMAHf precursors and its effect on the formation of $HfO_2$ thin films. FT-IR experiments were performed before deposition in order to analyze the thermal decomposition properties of the precursors. The measurements were taken in the range of $135^{\circ}C-350^{\circ}C$. At temperatures higher than $300^{\circ}C$, there was a rapid decrease in the absorption peaks arising from vibration of $Sp^3$ C-H stretching. This showed that the precursors experienced rapid decomposition at around $275^{\circ}C-300^{\circ}C$. $HfO_2$ thin films were successfully deposited by Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) at $50^{\circ}C$ intervals between $150^{\circ}C$ to $400^{\circ}C$; the deposited films were characterized using a reflectometer, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Grazing Incidence X-ray Diffraction (GIXRD), and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The results illustrate the relationship between the thermal decomposition temperature of TEMAHf and properties of thin films.

The study of non-contact/non-invasive pulse analyzing system using Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) for oriental pulse diagnosis (비접촉식 광생체단층촬영 기술을 이용한 맥진 연구 -맥의 빠르기, 크기 및 맥력을 중심으로-)

  • Objective: Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) has emerged as an important optical imaging modality in non-invasive medical diagnostics. Hence, the aim of this study is to measure the similarity of the diagnosis by a traditional method using doctor's hand for feeling of pulse and by the non-contact/non-invasive pulse analyzing system using OCT on Chon(寸), Kwan(關), Chuk(尺). Method: Four korean medical doctors and the non-contact/non-invasive pulse analyzing system using OCT have measured the rapidity, the dimension, and the power of pulse waves of 25 volunteers. First, four korean medical doctors measured pulse waves of volunteers. During measuring, four doctors were separated from each other and so were volunteers. And then, the pulse waves of volunteers were measured by OCT. This was performed on the right Chon(寸), Kwan(關), Chuk(尺). Results: The study showed that the traditional method and the OCT based method had the 88% matches on the values of the slow and rapid pulse condition (遲數), 64% matches on the values of the small and big pulse condition(微細弱緩大[洪]), and 72% matches on the values of the weak and strong pulse condition(虛實). Conclusions: Based on the high similarities of the measurements of two approaches, we suggest that the OCT based pulse diagnosis method is useful for compensating the traditional method for the pulse diagnosis.

Comparing accuracy of denture bases fabricated by injection molding, CAD/CAM milling, and rapid prototyping method

  • PURPOSE. The accuracy of denture bases was compared among injection molding, milling, and rapid prototyping (RP) fabricating method. MATERIALS AND METHODS. The maxillary edentulous master cast was fabricated and round shaped four notches were formed. The cast was duplicated to ten casts and scanned. In the injection molding method, designed denture bases were milled from a wax block and fabricated using SR Ivocap injection system. Denture bases were milled from a pre-polymerized block in the milling method. In the RP method, denture bases were printed and post-cured. The intaglio surface of the base was scanned and surface matching software was used to measure inaccuracy. Measurements were performed between four notches and two points in the mid-palatal suture to evaluate inaccuracy. The palatine rugae resolution was evaluated. One-way analysis of variance was used for statistical analysis at ${\alpha}=.05$. RESULTS. No statistically significant differences in distances among four notches (P>.05). The accuracy of the injection molding method was lower than those of the other methods in two points of the mid-palatal suture significantly (P<.05). The degree of palatine rugae resolution was significantly higher in the injection molding method than that in other methods (P<.05). CONCLUSION. The overall accuracy of the denture base is higher in milling and RP method than the injection molding method. The degree of fine reproducibility is higher in the injection molding method than the milling or RP method.

A cone-beam computed tomography evaluation of buccal bone thickness following maxillary expansion

  • Purpose: This study was performed to determine the buccal alveolar bone thickness following rapid maxillary expansion (RME) using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Materials and Methods: Twenty-four individuals (15 females, 9 males; 13.9 years) that underwent RME therapy were included. Each patient had CBCT images available before (T1), after (T2), and 2 to 3 years after (T3) maxillary expansion therapy. Coronal multiplanar reconstruction images were used to measure the linear transverse dimensions, inclinations of teeth, and thickness of the buccal alveolar bone. One-way ANOVA analysis was used to compare the changes between the three times of imaging. Pairwise comparisons were made with the Bonferroni method. The level of significance was established at p<0.05. Results: The mean changes between the points in time yielded significant differences for both molar and premolar transverse measurements between T1 and T2 (p<0.05) and between T1 and T3 (p<0.05). When evaluating the effect of maxillary expansion on the amount of buccal alveolar bone, a decrease between T1 and T2 and an increase between T2 and T3 were found in the buccal bone thickness of both the maxillary first premolars and maxillary first molars. However, these changes were not significant. Similar changes were observed for the angular measurements. Conclusion: RME resulted in non-significant reduction of buccal bone between T1 and T2. These changes were reversible in the long-term with no evident deleterious effects on the alveolar buccal bone.
