  • To analyze the dynamic characteristics of the bundle drawing process, we employed a Random Phase Spectrum method to generate stochastic test signals that had a given autocorrelation function. And the spectra of the dynamics of the process outputs were obtained, based on the dynamic model of the bundle drawing process. Results showed that the RPS method was very effective to generate stochastic signals that had an exponential function form. The drawing process had the traits that there existed a special frequency range, incurring the process resonance.

  • We propose an implementation scheme for an optical encryption system with hybrid-pattern random keys. In the encryption process, a pair of random phase keys composed of a white-noise phase key and a structured phase key are positioned in the input plane and Fourier-spectrum plane respectively. The output image is recoverable by digital reconstruction, using the conjugate of the encryption key in the Fourier-spectrum plane. We discuss the system encryption performance when different combinations of phase-key pairs are used. To measure the effectiveness of the proposed method, we calculate the statistical indicators between original and encrypted images. The results are compared to those generated from a classical double random phase encoding. Computer simulations are presented to show the validity of the method.

  • A phase delay spectrum model towards the representation of spatial coherence of stochastic wind fields is proposed. Different from the classical coherence functions used in the spectral representation methods, the model is derived from the comprehensive description of coherence of fluctuating wind speeds and from the thorough analysis of physical accounts of random factors affecting phase delay, building up a consistent mapping between the simulated fluctuating wind speeds and the basic random variables. It thus includes complete probabilistic information of spatial stochastic wind fields. This treatment prompts a ready and succinct scheme for the simulation of fluctuating wind speeds, and provides a new perspective to the accurate assessment of dynamic reliability of wind-induced structures. Numerical investigations and comparative studies indicate that the developed model is of rationality and of applicability which matches well with the measured data at spatial points of wind fields, whereby the phase spectra at defined datum mark and objective point are feasibly obtained using the numerical scheme associated with the starting-time of phase evolution. In conjunction with the stochastic Fourier amplitude spectrum that we developed previously, the time history of fluctuating wind speeds at any spatial points of wind fields can be readily simulated.

  • In this paper, induction motor drives with low switching acoustic noise based on the 2 phase modulated RLL(Random Lead-Lag) PWM is proposed and implemented. The proposed switching method is much bettor than 3 phase modulated RLL-PWM from the standpoint of the broadening effect of the acoustic noise spectrum. Along with the randomization of PWM Pulses, SVM(Space Vector Modulation) is executed in the TMS320C31 DSP(Digital Signal Processor). To verify the validity of the proposed RPWM(Random PWM), the experimental study was tried. The experimental results show that the performance of the proposed method and the 3 phase center-aligned SVM / conventional RLL-PWM are nearly the same from the viewpoint of the constant v/f centrel. But, in case of the proposed 2 phase modulated RLL-PWM, the spectrum characteristics of the voltage and the switching acoustic noise are shown to have better broadening effect than 3 phase modulated one.

  • The switching-mode power converter has been widely used because of its features of high efficiency and small weight and size. These features are brought by the ON-OFF operation of semiconductor switching devices. However, this switching operation causes the surge and EMI(Electromagnetic Interference) which deteriorate the reliability of the converter themselves and entire electronic systems. This problem on the surge and noise is one of the most serious difficulties in AC-to-DC converter. Random Pulse Width Modulation (RPWM) is peformed by adding a random perturbation to switching instant while output-voltage regulation of converter is performed. RPWM method for reducing conducted EMI in single switch three phase discontinuous conduction mode boost converter is presented. The more white noise is injected, the more conducted EMI is reduced. But output-voltage is not sufficiently regulated. This is the reason why carrier frequency selection topology is proposed. In the case of carrier frequency selection, output-voltage of steady state and transient state is fully regulated. A RPWM control method was proposed in order to smooth the switching noise spectrum and reduce it's level. Experimental results are verified by converter operating at 300v/1kW with $5%{\sim}30%$ white noise input. Spectrum analysis is performed on the Phase current and the CM noise voltage. The former is measured with Current Probe and the latter is achieved with LISN, which are connected to the spectrum analyzer respectively.

  • This study proposes a novel random pulse-width modulation (PWM) technique with a constant switching frequency utilizing a random offset voltage. The proposed PWM technique spreads switching harmonics by varying the position of an active voltage vector without a switching frequency variation. The implementation of the proposed PWM technique is simple because it does not require additional hardware and complex algorithm. The proposed random PWM technique is compared with the conventional PWM technique on the factors of harmonic spectrum, total harmonic distortion, and harmonic spread factor to confirm the harmonic spread effect. The validity of the proposed method is verified by simulations and experiments on a three-phase inverter drive system.

In the switching-mode power converter, the output voltage is generally controlled by varying the duty ratio of main switch. When a converter operates in steady state, duty ratio of the converter is kept constant. So the power of switching noise is concentrated in specific frequencies. Generally, to reduce the EMI and improve the immunity of converter system, the switching frequency of converter needs to be properly modulated during a rectified line period instead of being kept constant. Random Pulse Width Modulation (RPWM) is performed by adding a random perturbation to switching instant while output-voltage regulation of converter is performed. RPWM method for reducing conducted EMI in single switch three phase discontinuous conduction mode boost converter is presented. The more white noise is injected, the more conducted EMI is reduced. • This paper describes a new method using random modulated strategies for switched reluctance machines. The proposed method is combined random turn-on, turn-off angle technique and random pulse width modulation technique. The purpose of this proposed method is to decrease harmonic spectrum, and thus reduce the emitted acoustical noise. A random generator is generated by linear congruential generator (LCG) using random pulse position (RPP) scheme. Simulation results show that the harmonic intensity of proposed method is better than that of conventional method.

  • The mechanical structures mounted on vehicles or aircrafts are subject to random accelerations, such as earthquakes, at the base, and their responses have been calculated through spectrum analysis. However, this method poses a challenge during the synthesis of the responses owing to the loss of the vibration phase. It is necessary to evaluate the time history results to obtain the exact responses; therefore, an efficient technique is proposed to solve this issue. The present technique involves constructing a superelement using the sub-structuring method and finding solutions for this superelement. The finite element model (FEM) was substituted by a superelement, which was simplified into one element with selected nodes. Comparing the numerical results of the superelement with the time history responses for the original finite element model, the two solutions agree well despite the fact that the computation time of the proposed technique has been greatly shortened.
