  • Train control by radio based communication is one of the interesting new fields in train signal. The radio based control has more benefits, low headway and low construction and maintenance cost, than conventional control. In this paper, a safe and efficient train operation is introduced. Triple radio communications, train to train, train to station, and train to central traffic control, are used to increase the reliability. One of these communications channels has a fault; the others can take the functions of it. Absolute position of a train is transmitted to station via radio communication. In the station, the interlocking mechanism should be activated as the legacy.

  • For the rail fastener clip shoulder being used in Pandrol e-cilp type fastening system, there has been a need to make a structural and electrical improvement due to the fact that PC concrete sleeper showed material loss in the vicinity of exposed portion of the clip shoulder and the fact that track signal was lost when a track insulation block is missing on the track.   • The On Board Computer System (ORCS) used for rolling stocks is one of the core equipments in trains, which deals with collecting real-time data of a train to display and record the train's statuses, control the train, and support the driver and maintenance function. Resides, due to high reliability and high speed communication required lately for various electronics including signal1ing devices, train protection system, and multimedia, the necessity of a more robust train communication network is on the lise. This study aims at understanding the technological trend of the current train communication network in order to rapidly cope with the tendency above and providing fundamental data for designing a more advanced communication network for high-speed trains hereafter.

  • Since May 2003, On-line test to validate the interface between electrified conventional track, rolling stock, power supply and signalling system. Main test items are the suitability of the system such as vibration of the rolling stock, noise, current collection, track and signal system. In this article, part of the vibration and noise related test results are introduced such as the vibration of the carbody and bogie, running stability, jerk, interior noise of the passenger car and driver's cabin.

  • Since the most part of maintenance work for EMU depends on the worker's know-how, the quality of maintenance is different according to the worker's skill and experience. Especially EMU is composed of the various parts such as electrics, electronics, communication, signal, and machinery, etc., and performs its function by their organic work. Therefore it is very difficult to improve the quality of maintenance for EMU. In this paper we purpose how to change the know-how-based maintenance method to knowledge-based maintenance method. Consequently we can ensure the quality of maintenance for EMU, and improve the quality by continuous maintaining the knowledge.

  • Sound generated from a moving vehicle often carries information on the condition of vehicle, for example, whether it has faults or not, where the fault exists. The latter is possible especially by MFAH(moving frame acoustic holography) and beamforming method. MFAH is applicable to the sound source of pure tone or narrow band noise. For the beamforming method, we have to know what kind of wave the sound source radiates, for example, plane wave or spherical wave. That is, whether the above methods are applicable depends on the characteristics of sound source. To apply these methods to the fault detection, we have to know the characteristics of wave from faults. In this research, a machine diagnosis technique based on the above holographic approaches is introduced to find the position of faults. The signal due to faults is modeled based on the fact that the faults radiate impulsive noise, and analyzed in time and frequency domain. The way how MFAH and beamforming method can be used is introduced to find the position of source.

  • ATC facility manipulates ground-on-board information, which transmits speed limit, varying as wayside environments - safety facility, track gradient, inclination, bridge and tunnel and other factors, installed for safe operation of trains on wayside. Efficientiation and automatification of operation and maintenance is being realized, by measuring if there are any erroneous information, using a measuring car. In this paper, we study in priority the methods for measuring accurately distinctive properties of internal malfunctions of track circuits, the performance decrease of condensers, and the unbalance of return cables, which are actually required for functionality improvement of high-speed line signal measure facilities, by measuring the unbalance of return current given because of damaged factors of external track circuits.

  • 이 논문은 ATS(Automatic Train Stop)의 신호를 측정하기 위해 개발된 측정시스템을 소개하고, 측정 결과를 고찰하여 향후 연구 방향을 제시하고자 한다. 기존선 고속화 요구에 따른 신호보안설비의 개선이 요구되지만 기존의 설비를 전면적으로 교체하기에는 기간 및 많은 비용이 요구된다. 그러기 위해서 기존의 ATS에 대해서 성능을 점검하고 고속화를 위한 개선점을 찾아 신호설비 개량전에 단계적 고속화가 필요하다. 그러므로 본 논문에서는 신호 고속화 시스템을 위해 기존신호 시스템의 특징을 조사하였다. 이 논문에서는 NI사의 상용 A/D 보드와 LabVIEW를 사용하여 측정시스템을 만들어 측정하였다. 측정결과는 기존의 ATS의 신호가 고속에서는 응동시간이 문제가 있으며, 고속화를 위해서는 일부 개량이 필요하다. 그러나 승객의 안전에 관련된 사안이므로 더 다양한 방향에서의 고찰이 필요할 것으로 보인다.

  • Safety of railroad is result of reliability which is received from test & evaluation of system. Railroad system is consisted of various sub system such as vehicle, supply of electric power, signal, communication, rail track construction, operation. To secure safety of railroad, evaluation about parts, assembly, sub system, whole system etc.. that compose railroad is essential. In this paper, I wish to describe for results that analyze korean tilting vehicle's derailment coefficient developed by national research achievement. Result that evaluation korean tilting vehicle's running safety, verified that secure even if speed-up 30 km/h than operating speed of present in curved line.
