  • Communication based train control system is applied regularly worldwide. And this system may be used in domestic soon. Communication based train control system does not depend on conventional track circuit. Therefore, position and distance control of train to prevent collision with leading train may become important safety factor. This paper developed collision avoidance algorithm to control trains of several units efficiently for this. In developing a collision avoidance algorithm, it is desirable to avoid the need for additional system. Additional system restricts the development of the algorithm by limiting the effectiveness of the algorithm to only those areas where the additional system can be afforded and has been installed.

Development of the Railroad Geotechnical Information Management System Using Web GIS (웹 GIS 기반 철도 지반정보 관리프로그램의 개발)

  • Railroad geotechnical information management system was developed by using Web GIS and DB in this study. The standardization of railroad geotechnical information is progressed by classifying three groups as like basic informations, vibration informations along railway lines and design drawings. The basic informations consisted of basic and dynamic properties of soils, geophysical exploration and seismic survey/exploration. And the specification for 'human exposure to whole-body vibration' was adopted to construct the vibration informations along railway lines. The informations as like drawings and photographs were saved by changing to graphic files in the standardization of design drawings. In the case of standardization of geographical information, the topographical maps(NGIS, 1:5000) were primarily used as digital maps. Another digital maps(KRRI, 1:5000) and their geographical DB based on NGI code system were added on this maps. The standardized informations were used to construct their database. And railroad information management system was developed using Entity-Relation(ER) model which had a good feasibility for expansion and transition to other system in designing stage of database. This system consisted of layer selection, search and analysis of geotechnical informations and Zeus DB was adopted for GIS operating and user interface. This system could be a good tool for saving, searching and analyzing the geotechnical and geophysical informations. These DB systems would offered the basic informations to plans, design and construction of railroad lines etc. in practical use.

  • In this study, on-line measuring system were developed to verify performances and functions of traction system that are used in KTX(Korea Train eXpress) synthetically and efficiently, and have been measuring electric signals of vehicle as well as mechanical signals up to the present. Running-braking measuring equipment was constructed in vehicle to optimize signal acquisition and analysis ability of the measuring system. Measurement data of signal were performed acquisition, analysis and evaluation using this equipment. KRRI(Korea Railroad Research Institute) described about main specifications of measuring equipment. Also, the structure and principles as well as main circuit system were explained in brief. KRRI analyzed the characteristics comparing design values with experimental values about running distance, running time and positive acceleration for KTX is running in full traction. We analyzed the distance and time according to number of motor block. In result, running characteristics of traction system in KTX were verified and could be evaluated.

  • In this paper, the wearing characteristics of current collecting shoes, interruption phenomena and contact resistances between collecting shoes and conductor rails are established as design parameters for development of the third rail current collector. An experimental analysis for established design parameters is performed as the materials of current collector shoe, contact force, sliding velocity and contact condition(dry/wet condition) between current collectors shoe and conductor rails. As a result of this study, the magnitude of contact force is in proportion to the amount of wear in the collecting shoe, but is in inverse proportion to the interruption and contact resistance between the collecting shoe and the conductor rail. And optimal values of design parameters are pre sented through analyzing the experimental results of the amount of wear, interruption and contact resistance.

  • Dynamic numerical simulation of pile-supported slab track system embedded in a soft soil and embankment was performed. 3D model was formulated in a time domain to consider the non-linearity of soil by utilizing FLAC 3D, which is a finite difference method program. Soil non-linearity was simulated by adopting the hysteric damping model and liner elements, which could consider soil-pile interface. The long period seismic loads, Hachinohe type strong motions, were applied for estimating seismic respose of the system, Parametric study was carried out by changing subsoil layer profile, embankment height and seismic loading conditions. The most of horizontal permanent displacement was initiated by slope failure. Increase of the embedded height and thickness of the soft soil layer leads increase of member forces of PHC piles; bending moment, and axial force. Finally, basic guidelines for designing pile-supported slab track system under seismic loading are recommended based on the analysis results.

  • DC fraction system can damage human and other facilities due to the rising of rail potential. Therefore the earth fault detection relay protects system using rail potential induced in train operation and ground fault. However the conventional protection system cannot operate due to the fault resistance and might operate unwanted voltage rising due to the other substation ground fault. So this paper models DC traction system using PSCAD/EMTDC and simulates the rail potential rising. We can estimate the rail potential rising in DC traction system through the various simulation.

  • Automation systems for higher performance and efficiency in railway electrification systems are driving ever more demanding needs for new condition monitering systems which can consist of sensors connected to the substation and catenary systems. This paper reviews the recently developed condition monitering system, based on a IP network-based multi-agent system, wireless communications and sensor networks for railway electrification system. A new concept for information management, condition monitoring and control of power transmission are considered as railway automation in electrification system.

  • This paper describes the pantograph design result for tilting train at conventional railway. EMU(Electrical Multiple Unit) Tilting Train is important tilting pantograph. Tilting train pantograh should be operated to commercial service speed 180Km/h of 200Km/h at KNR upgrade railroad. This paper is write tilting train pantograph control system.

  • The Honam conventional railroad was already exceseed the limit capacity of transportal ion at some sect ion. Therefore Honam railroad axis needs new high speed railroad line for increasing of transportal ion capacity now. This report was studied about the system technical specification of rolling stock based on new technology or high speed train or advenced countries, KHST and KTX for Honam high speed railroad.

  • Line constants are composed by impedances and susceptances. We don't need all line constants on electric railway system. Depending on where they are applied, The algorithm to get line constants Is different. We suggest two algorithm to measure them.
