To introduce an oyster rack culture in tidal flat of Wando-gun, Korea, we investigated sanitary conditions from 2012 April to 2013 March in oyster growing waters and adjacent area in Wando. Average seawater temperature and salinity ranged $8.6-28.0^{\circ}C$ and 26.2-33.6 psu, respectively. The coliform group and fecal coliform of seawater ranged < 1.8-13.0 MPN/100 mL each. Only one of 60 samples was exceeded in the European criteria of fecal coliform. Influence of adjunct basin's pollution load on cultural waters was negligible, which half radius of dilution was not above 300 m. According to our observation, however, landing of oyster should be banned for at least 5 days after the heavy rainfall. Our findings meet the sanitary seawater criteria for domestic use and export of shellfish and classified as 'Class A' in European Community regulations for bivalve culture.

Electrical resistivity survey have been widely conducted at diverse scales, from a few centimeters for laboratory tests to kilometers for field tests. It measures electrical resistance through relationship of electric potential difference and current between two electrodes penetrated on the surface of medium, and eventually quantifies electrical resistivity known as inherent properties of the medium. In field or full-scale test, it assumes the electrodes as equivalent half-sphere electrodes that have a same surface area with different electrodes for ease of calculation because the contact area between electrode and medium is small and sufficient distance between two electrodes. However, small-scale laboratory test is significantly affected by the electrode geometries (penetrated depth, height, radius of electrode and distance between electrodes), which change the equipotential surface and electric current flow. Indeed, the electrode geometries may eventually cause a difference of electrical resistivity value. This study reviews the theoretical electrical resistance derived with various electrode geometries (half-sphere, cylinder, cylindrical with half-spherical tip, cylindrical with conical tip) and verifies the developed numerical module by comparing results with the theoretical electrical resistance. The distributions of electrical resistance around electrodes and among electrodes are analyzed. In addition, it is discussed how the electrical characteristic of cylindrical electrode with conical tip widely used in field test has effect on the electric current flow.
The effects of climatic changes owing to urbanization on annual water balance have been studied. In this study, 56 meteorological stations including Seoul metropolis in South Korea have been selected, and the area of study site is $314\;km^2$. The meteorological station is centrally located in the study area with a 10 km radius. Land use status of study area was examined to estimate the urbanization extent, so that annual actual evapotranspiration could be estimated. Annual runoff was estimated by annual water balance approach using the estimated annual actual evapotranspiration and measured annual precipitation. Annual actual evapotranspiration was estimated by applying experimental equation suggested by Zhang et al, (2001) which was evaluated from 250 watersheds all over the world. Study results show that reference evapotranspiration is tending upwards due to urbanization; therefore, it seems that climatic change due to urbanization may increase the amount of annual actual evapotranspiration. However, the increase of residential area due to urbanization in study area may decrease the amount of annual actual evapotranspiration. The study results indicate that urbanization effect on annual trend of precipitation was not significant. In urban area, annual runoff is directly affected by annual precipitation, and compared with annual precipitation, annual variation of actual evapotranspiration was not significant even though it was estimated by using annual precipitation. It seems that the effect of urbanization on annual actual evapotranspiration does not influence on annual runoff significantly, and that urbanization effect on annual runoff Is not significant.
Rotating right cylinder of rigid sloping boundaries(top-bottom) is filled with two-layered fluid. External fluid which has the same density as the lower-layer is pumped through the rim boundary at the bottom, and this induces uniform vertical velocity in the interior that produces the Sverdrup type motion such as southward flowing western boundary current with northward interior horizontal motion. The rigid sloping upper boundary meets with lower layer to simulate so called "polar front", and the upper-layer motion influenced by the lower-layer flow has been observed. Barotropic motion in the western part of the basin while baroclinic motion in the eastern half is always present. In particular, both southward flowing eastern boundary flow and western boundary flow meets near the western wall and it induces northward western boundary flow to separate from the boundary With increased ${\beta}$-effect on the upper0layer the width of western boundary decreases and the separated western boundary flow moves into the interior to form an eddy-like motion. Baroclinic Rosebay wave clearly observed in the easter boundary slowly propagates to the west but it seems to be decayed before travelling to the western boundary. A local topograpic effect imposed on the lower-layer causes very sensitive response of upper layer boundary flows. In the east standing0wave0like features are observed in the west whereas the width of the boundary increases without any evidence of the separation of the western boundary flow.This may be due to the gact that even the lower-lauer barotropic motion feels the topography its influence does not propagate into the upper-layer. With large ${\beta}$-effect on the upper-layer,relatively large scale waves whose wavelengths are greater than the internal radius deformation exist in the interior.

In-situ test to find the change of $Fe^{2+}$ and $Mn^{2+}$ concentrations and ion contents in groundwater was conducted during two pumping tests at the riverbank filtration site, where is the riverine area of the Nakdong River in Changnyeong-Gun. Groundwater was sampled at one pumping well and 10 monitoring wells during a 5 steps drawdown pumping test with the rates from $500m^3/day$ to $900m^3/day$ and a constant pumping test with $800m^3/day$. The change in ion concentration of groundwater was more remarkable during a step drawdown pumping test than a constant pumping test. Especially, the decrease in $Fe^{2+}$ and $Mn^{2+}$ concentrations was distinct in a step drawdown pumping test and it happens predominantly along the direction that the radius of pumping influence was small due to a good aquifer connectivity to a pumping position. The precipitation and the oxidation of iron and manganese were caused by an air inflow and a disturbance in groundwater flow due to an abrupt change in pumping rate. The pumping rate and spatial distribution of an aquifer around a pumping well need to be considered as an important factor for the development of in-situ iron and manganese treatment technology.

Showerhead is used as a main part in the semiconductor equipment. The face plate flatness should remain constant and the cleaning performance must be gained to keep the uniformity level of etching or deposition in chemical vapor deposition process. High operating temperature or long period of thermal loading could lead the showerhead to be deformed thermally. In some case, the thermal deformation appears very sensitive to showerhead performance. This paper describes the methods for robust design using computational fluid dynamics. To reveal the influence of the post distribution on flow pattern in the showerhead cavity, numerical simulation was performed for several post distributions. The flow structure appears similar to an impinging flow near a centered baffle in showerhead cavity. We took the structure as an index to estimate diffusion path. A robust design to reduce the thermal deformation of showerhead can be achieved using post number increase without ill effect on flow. To prevent the showerhead deformation by heat loading, its face plate thickness was determined additionally using numerical simulation. The face plate has thousands of impinging holes. The design key is to keep pressure drop distribution on the showerhead face plate with the holes. This study reads the methodology to apply to a showerhead hole design. A Hagen-Poiseuille equation gives the pressure drop in a fluid flowing through such hole. The assumptions of the equation are the fluid is viscous-incompressible and the flow is laminar fully developed in a through hole. An equation can be expressed with radius R and length L related to the volume flow rate Q from the Hagen-Poiseuille equation, $Q={\pi}R4{\Delta}p/8{\mu}L$, where ${\mu}$ is the viscosity and ${\Delta}p$ is the pressure drop. In present case, each hole has steps at both the inlet and the outlet, and the fluid appears compressible. So we simplify the equation as $Q=C(R,L){\Delta}p$. A series of performance curves for a through hole with geometric parameters were obtained using two-dimensional numerical simulation. We obtained a relation between the hole diameter and hole length from the test cases to determine hole diameter at fixed hole length. A numerical simulation has been performed as a tool for enhancing showerhead robust design from flow structure. Geometric parameters for the design were post distribution and face plate thickness. The reinforced showerhead has been installed and its effective deposition profile is being shown in factory.
It is important to study on the traffic accident severity reduction because traffic accident is an issue that is directly related to human life. Therefore, this research developed countermeasure to reduce traffic accident severity considering various factors that affect the accident severity. This research developed the Accident Severity Prediction Model using the collected accident data from Seohaean Expressway in 2004~2006. Through this model, we can find the influence factors and methodology to reduce accident severity. The results show that speed limit violation, vehicle defects, vehicle to vehicle accident, vehicle to person accident, traffic volume, curve radius CV(Coefficient of variation) and vertical slope CV were selected to compose the accident severity model. These are certain causes of the severe accident. The accidents by these certain causes present specific sections of Seohaean Expressway. The results indicate that we can prevent severe accidents by providing selected traffic information and facilities to drivers at specific sections of the Expressway.

InSAR (Interferometry SAR) technique is a technique that uses complex data to obtain phase difference information from two or more SAR image data, and enables high-resolution image extraction, surface change detection, elevation measurement, and glacial change observation. In many countries, research on the InSAR technique is being conducted in various fields of study such as volcanic activity detection, glacier observation in Antarctica, and ground subsidence analysis. In this study, a case of large ground settlement due to groundwater level drawdown during tunnelling was introduced, and ground settlement analyses using InSAR technique and numerical analysis method were compared. The maximum settlement and influence radius estimated by the InSAR technique and numerical method were found to be quite similar, which confirms the reliability of the InSAR technique. Through this case study, it was found that the InSAR technique reliable to use for estimating ground settlement and can be used as a key technology to identify the long-term ground settlement history in the absence of measurement data.
Nitrate concentrations in springs at the southern slope of Jeju Island were predicted using multiple linear regression (MLR) of spatial variables including hydrogeological parameters and land use characteristics. Springs showed wide range of nitrate concentrations from <0.02 to 86 mg/L with a mean of 20 mg/L. Spatial variables were generated for the circular buffer when the optimal buffer radius was assigned as 400 m. Selected regression models were tested using the p values and Durbin-Watson statistics. Explanatory variables were selected using the adjusted $R^2$, Cp (total squared error) and AIC (Akaike's Information Criterion), and significance. In addition, mutual linear relations between variables were also considered. Small portion of springs, usually <10% of total samples, were identified as outliers indicating limitations of MLR using circular buffers. Adjusted $R^2$ of the proposed models was improved from 0.75 to 0.87 when outliers were eliminated. In particular, the areal proportion of natural area had the greatest influence on the nitrate concentrations in springs. Among anthropogenic land uses, the influence of nitrate contamination is diminishing in the following order of orchard, residential area, and dry farmland. It is apparent quality of springs in the study area is likely to be controlled by land uses instead of hydrogeological parameters. Most of all, it is worth highlighting that the contamination susceptibility of springs is highly sensitive to nearby land uses, in particular, orchard.

The propriety between suppliers and demanders in geometric design is very important. Although the final purpose of constructing roads is to concern about the driver s comfort, unfortunately, it has not been considered so far. We've considered the regularity and quickness in considering driver's comfort but there should be considered the safety for the accident as well. If drivers are appeared to be more speeding than designer's intention, there will be needed some supplements to increase the safety rate for the roads. Even if both an upward and downward section are supposed to exist at the same time for solid geometry of the roads like this, it is true that the recent design for the 3-D solid geometry section has been done as flat 2-D and the minimum plane curve radius and the maximum cant have been decided just by calculating without considering operating speed between an upward and downward section at the same point. In this investigation, thus, I'd like to calculate the safety of the cant by considering the speed features of the solid geometry for the first lane of four lane rural roads. To begin with, we investigated the driving speed of the car, which is not been influenced by a preceding car to analyze the influence of the geometrical structure by using Nc-97. Secondly, we statistically analyzed the driving features of the solid geometry after comparing the 6 sections, that is, measuring the driving speed feature at 12 points and combining the influence of the vertical geometry and plane geometry to the driving speed of the plane curve which was researched before. Finally, we estimated the value of cant which considers the driving speed not by using it which has applied uniformly without considering it properly, though there were some differences between a designed speed and driving speed through the result of the basic statistical analysis but by introducing the new safety rate rule, a notion of ${\alpha}$. As a result of the research, we could see the driving features of the car and suggest the safety rate which considers these. For considering the maximum cant, if we apply the safety rate, the result of this experiment, which considers 3-D solid geometry, there'll be the improvement of the driver's safety for designing roads. In addition, after collecting and analyzing the data for the road sections which have various geometrical structures by expanding this experiment it is considered that there should be developed the models which considers 3-D solid geometry.
