In this paper, the results gained by applying many impingement models to the cylinder and flat plate were analyzed in comparison with the experimental data to study a spray/wall interaction phenomena. To begin with, the behavior of spray injected normal to the wall was analysed using three different impingement models ; Naber and Reitz model(NR model), Watkins and Wang model(WW model) and Park and Watkins model(PW model) in the present calculation. The results obtained from these models were compared with experimental data of Katsura et. al. The results indicated that PW model was in better agreement with experimental data than the NR and WW model. Also f3r spray injected at 30DEG , the result of three models were compared with experimental data of Fujimoto et. al. The results showed that m model overpredicted the penetration in the radial direction because this model was based on the inviscid jet analogy. WW model did not predicted the radius and height of the wall spray effectively. It might be thought that this discrepancy was due to the lack of consideration of spray film velocity occurred at impingement site. The result of PW model agrees with the experimental data as time goes on. In particular, a height of the spray droplets was predicted more closely to the experimental data than the other two models. The results of PW model in which the spray droplets were distributed densely around the edge of droplet distribution shaped in a circle had an agreement with the experimental data of Fujimoto et. al. Therefore, it was concluded that PW model performed better than M and WW model for prediction of spray behavior. The numerical calculation using PW model performed to the cylinder similar to the real shape of DI engine. The results showed that vortex strength near the wall in the cylinder was stronger than that in the case of flat plate. Contrary to the flat plat, an existence of the side wall in the cylinder caused the tangential velocity component to be reduced and the normal velocity component to be increased. The flow tends to rotate to the inside of cylinder going upward to the right side wall of cylinder gradually as time passes. Also, the results showed that as the spray angle increases, the gas velocity distribution and the tumble flow seemed to be formed widely.

In this work, based on the blade element-momentum theory (BEMT), we proposed the geometry of a lab-scale horizontal axis tidal turbine with a diameter of 80cm, which can demonstrate the maximum power coefficient, and investigated the effect of blade pitch angle increase on the power coefficient. For validation of the computed power coefficients by the BEMT, we also computed the power coefficient using the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) for each case. For the CFD, 15 times of the turbine radius was used for the length and diameter of the computational domain, and the open boundary condition was prescribed at the boundary of the computational domain. The maximum power coefficients of the turbine acquired by the BEMT and CFD were about 48%, showing a good agreement. Both of the power coefficients computed by the BEMT and CFD tended to decrease when the blade pitch angle increases. The two power coefficients for a given tip-speed ratio were in good agreement. Through the present study, we have confirmed that we can trust the proposed geometry and the computed power coefficients based on the BEMT.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of negatively electric field on bone healing in rabbit segmental long bone defects using negatively charged PTFE membrane. Ten millimeter segmental defects in the rabbit radius were used as the experimental model. After membranes were then charge injected using a corona-charging apparatus, the left defects were covered with non charged PTFE membranes as control groups, whereas the right defect was covered with negatively charged PTFE membranes as test group. The animals were divided into 4 groups of 2 rabbits each, and sacrificed at 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks. Histomorphometric analysis showed a more newly formed bone in negatively charged membrane at early healing period. At 2 weeks, the proportion of new bone formation to total defect area was 0.32% in control group, 1.10% in experimental group. At 4 weeks, the proportion of new bone formation to total defect area was 6.86% in control, and 13.75% in experimental. At 6 and 8 weeks, no obvious difference was found between the two groups but newly formed bone in test groups were slightly more than that in control groups. In conclusion, negatively charged membranes showed more newly bone tissue than noncharged membranes at an early healing period. Although the number of samples was small, this study showed that the combination of negatively electrical stimulation and P1FE membrane may be of value in long bone healing.

In this study, vehicle speeds at acceleration and deceleration lanes of rest areas for drowsy drivers were investigated to analyze effects of acceleration and deceleration lane lengths, grades and curve radius. In addition, we used VISSM to analyze proper lengths of rest area's acceleration and deceleration lanes. Several VISSIM scenarios with different lengths of acceleration and deceleration lane were constructed. Through VISSIM simulation, we collected individual vehicle speed data to analyze speed changes by different lengths of acceleration and deceleration lanes. As a result of the vehicle speed change investigation, grades and curve radii of the rest area affected the speed, most of all lengths of acceleration and deceleration lane showed a great effect on the vehicle speed. In the case of short lengths of acceleration and deceleration lane, speed variation among vehicles was significant. If the deceleration lane length is short, the vehicle enters a state in which the speed is not sufficiently reduced, and if the acceleration lane length is short, the vehicle enters a state in which the speed is not sufficiently accelerated showing high risks of conflicts and accidents. It is recommended that 245m length of deceleration lane and 370m length of acceleration lane should be installed at least to secure safety and manage conflicts relevantly.
Orthotropic steel decks are manufactured by welding thin plates therefore it is inevitable that there are abundant works of welding process. On connection of transverse rib web, crossing point of longitudinal rib, transverse rib and deck plate and cut-out parts of transverse rib are the significant position of stress concentration because of out of plane and oil-canning deformation caused by longitudinal rib distortion with shear force and distortion. At the current research, the crossing point where the orthotropic steel decks's effect of improving fatigue performance are high, not placing scallop and diaphragm which have same plane with transverse rib placed inside of longitudinal rib at the same time, the reduce effects of stress concentration at the cut-out section and the crossing are high. Especially the installation of the diaphragm causing great effects based on research results to stress concentration appearance reduce effects at the cut-out section, putting radius of curvature of the diaphragm's top and bottom as a target, as a result of carrying out the parametric analysis an optimal diaphragm form that has great effects in fatigue performance came to a conclusion. Also based on optimal diaphragm form, an advantage of the diaphragm optimal setting position for improvement of the fatigue performance came to a conclusion.

Drag reduction produced by dilute solution of water soluble ionic polymer-surfactant complex under turbulent flow in a rotating disk apparatus(RDA) was investigated in this study. Three different molecular weights of polyacrylic acid(PAA) were adopted as drag reducing additives, and distilled water was used as a solvent. Experiments were undertaken to observe the dependence of drag reduction on various factors such as polymer molecular weight, molecular expansions and flexibility, rotating speed of the disk and polymer concentration. Specific considerations were put on conformational difference between surfactant and polymer, and effect of pH on ionic polymer possessing various molecular conformation through pH. The complex of ionic polymer and surfactant(Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate) behaves like a large polyelectrolyte. Surfactant changes the polymer conformation and then increases the dimension of the polymer. The radius of gyration, hydrodynamic volume and relative viscosity of the polymer-surfactant system are observed to be greater than those of polymer itself. Such surfactant-polymer complex has enhanced drag reduction properties.
Internationally many models are developed and applied to predict the impact of the climate change, as occurring a lot of symptoms by climate change. Also, in Korea, according to increasing the application of the climate effect model in many research fields, it is required to study the method for preparing climate data and the characteristics of the climate. In this study IDSW (Inverse Distance Squared Weighting), one of the spatial statistic methods, is applied to interpolate. This method estimates a point of interest by assigning more weight to closer points, which are limited to be select by 3 in 100 km radius. As a result, annual average temperature and precipitation had increased by $0.4^{\circ}C$ and 412 mm during 1977 to 2006. They are also predicted to increase by $3.96^{\circ}C$, 319 mm in the 2100 compared to 2007. High variability of temperature and precipitation for last 30 years shows in some part of the Gangwon-do and in the southern part of Korea. Besides in the study of the variable trend, the variability of temperature and precipitation is inclined to increase in Gangwon-do and southern east part, respectively. However, during 2071 to 2100 variability of temperature is predicted to be high in midwest of Korea and variability of precipitation in the east. In the trend of variability, variability of temperature is apt to increase into west south, and variability of precipitation increase in midwest and a part of south.

While the hydrogen refueling station is rapidly expanded and installed, the safety inspection of the hydrogen pressure vessel in the station should be very important. Of these, according to ASME, hydrogen embrittlement tests must be performed for hydrogen vessel that store hydrogen above a certain pressure. The main test method for hydrogen embrittlement inspection is to carry out fracture tests and fatigue fracture tests in a high pressure hydrogen atmosphere, which allows the durability limit of the pressure vessel to be measured and the endurable limit to be determined in the hydrogen atmosphere. In detail, the critical crack depth can be calculated by the stress intensity factor(K), and the service life can be determined by da/dN (fatigue growth rate). API579-1/ ASME FFS-1 part 9 exemplifies the calculation method according to the mode of crack-like flaws, but for various shapes such as plates and cylinders, there are about 55 modes according to the shape and location of the crack. Due to the fairly complex formula, it is not easily accessible. In this study, we will show you how to calculate fracture mechanics numerically via Excel and VBA. In addition, this was applied to analyze the effects of the thickness and inner diameter of the pressure vessel on the service life.

Most of flood protection walls built on the impingement in mountain rivers have been made of concrete. It may cause flood disasters because the smooth wall surface could increase flow velocity. In this study the hydraulic experiments was carried out to evaluate the effect of one side wall with rectangular vertical ribs on flow resistance in open channel. The ratio of the pitch between vertical ribs to its depth, ${\lambda}_{nv}$, was designed so that it include the so-called d type and k type roughness. The range of Froude number, $F_r$, based on hydraulic radius is 0.81~1.12. Flow resistance in the open channel with a rib sidewall depends on the interval length of each ribs and the flow discharge. Maximum flow resistance occurred when ${\lambda}_{nv}$ is 9. In the d type roughness which ${\lambda}_{nv}$ is less than 3, the flow resistance decreases with increase of flow discharge. In the k type roughness which ${\lambda}_{nv}$ is greater than 3, the flow resistance increases with increase of flow discharge. The increments of flow resistance are especially great when ${\lambda}_{nv}$ are 9 and 12. The resistance due to vertical rib is mostly by the shape resistance and the vertical rib on one sidewall of open channel affects on the flow resistance so that the equivalent roughness heights of vertical rib may occur in scale of flow depth. Therefore the vertical ribs may be used to reduce the flow velocity and to move the location of maximum flow velocity from the rib sidewall to the centerward in a cross section of channels.

The conventional model did not take momentum conservation into consideration when the electron absorbs and emits the photons. II-ray provides momentum conservations on any directions of the entering photons, and also the electrons have radial momentum conservations and fully elastic bouncing between two atoms, in the new atom model. Conventional atom model must be criticized on the following four points. (1) Natural motions between positive and negative entities are not circular motions but linear going and returning ones, for examples sexual motion, tidal motion, day and night etc. Because the radius of hydrogen atom's electron orbit is the order of 10$^{-11}$ m and the radia of the nucleons in the nucleus are the order of 10$^{-14}$ m and then the converging $\pi$-gamma rays to the nucleus have so great circular momentum, the electron can not have a circular motion. We can say without doubt that any elementary mass particle can have only linear motion, because of the $\pi$-rays'hindrances, nearthenucleus. (2) Potential energy generation was neglected when electron changes its orbit from outer one to inner one. The h v is the kinetic energy of the photo-electron. The total energy difference between orbits comprises kinetic and potential energies. (3) The structure of the space must be taken into consideration because the properties of the electron do not change during the transition from outer orbit to inner one even though it produces photon. (4) Total energy conservation law applies to the energy flow between mind and matter because we daily experiences a interconnection between mind and body. Conventional Concept of Electric Field must be extended in the case of the direct and alternating current. Conventional concept is based on coulomb's force while the electric potential in the direct and alternating current is from Gibb's free energy. And also conventional concept has not any consciousness with human being but the latters has a conscious sensibility. The cell emf is from the kinetic energy of the open $\pi$-rays flow through the conducting wire.
