  • In this paper, we propose the protocol stact and the server functions of IWU which interconnects distributed LAN's users by using of B-ISDN. The protocol stact of interconnecting IWU under consideration users TCP/IP in upper layer. TCP/IP is popular communication protocol in interconnecting distributed LANs. The interconnecting IWU has server functions for transfering datagrams to B-ISDN such as address translation, fragment and reassembly, CL server, signalling and traffic control. We analyze the performance ofinterconnecting IWU with M/M/1/K queueing model and obtain the throughput and buffer size of interconnecting IWU.

  • With the aid of fast computing power, resampling techniques are being introduced for simulation output analysis (SOA). Autocorrelation among the output from discrete-event simulation prohibit the direct application of resampling schemes (Threshold bootstrap, Binary bootstrap, Stationary bootstrap, etc) extend its usage to time-series data such as simulation output. We present a new method for inference from a regenerative process, regenerative bootstrap, that equals or exceeds the performance of classical regenerative method and approximation regeneration techniques. Regenerative bootstrap saves computation time and overcomes the problem of scarce regeneration cycles. Computational results are provided using M/M/1 model.

  • This paper considers a discrete-time queueing system with variable service capacity. Using the supplementary variable method and the generating function technique, we compute the joint probability distribution of queue length and remaining service time at an arbitrary slot boundary, and also compute the distribution of the queue length at a departure time.

  • A queueing system with compound Poisson arrival and server vacation is analyzed by including supplementary variables. We consider a vacation system in which the server leaves for a vacation as soon as the system empties. When he returns, if no customer is waiting for service, he waits until a group of customers arrive and then begins to serve. We obtain the system size distribution and the waiting time distribution. Additional performance measures will be also considered.

  • In this paper, we propose an architecture of the asynchronous shared-bus type switch with priority and fairness schemes. The switch architecture is an input and output queueing system, and the priority scheme is implemented in both input and output queues. We analyze packet delay of both input and output queues. In the analysis, we consider to stations with asymmetric arrival rates. Although we make some approximations in the analysis, the numerical results show good agreements with the simulation results.

  • The paper considers the computation method in the performance evaluation of cellular network in the phase-type distribution assumptions that the channel holding times induced from mobility are modeled by well-fitted distributions to reflect an actual situation. When ww consider a phase-type distribution model instead of exponential distribution, the complexity of the computation increase exponential even though the accuracy is improved. We consider an efficient numerical algorithm to compute the performance evaluations in cellular networks such as a handoff call dropping probability, new call blocking probability, and handoff arrival rate. Numerical experiment shows that numerical analysis results are well approximated to the results of simulation.

  • This paper is related to a performance analysis of B-NT system, which is essential compositional equipment of B-ISDN access network. A simulator enabling performance analysis according to the change of network configuration topology and the change of user traffic is developed in this study. The developed B-NT, system simulator consists of graphic user interface module, simulation program automatic generator module, and B-NT system model library module. As examples of the results of performance analysis using the simulator, end-to-end user cell transmission delay time, queueing delay time in each system, and cell loss rate in the head node switch are presented. The simulator developed in this paper can be utilized in determining the network topology of B-NT system.

  • Advanced information communication processing system mainly consists of network access subsystems and a switching system. This paper provides performance analysis of a typical network access subsystem. The network access subsystem is modeled as a queueing network including a server providing polling services. The arrival process of messages to an input buffer is regarded as a Poisson process. Performance measures such as mean input buffer length and mean waiting time of meassages are obtained through simulation, for it is impossible to calculate the performance measures using an analytical method. Hybrid simulation is used to reduce the variance of estimators. The variance reduction effect on the mean waiting time is reported.

  • In this paper, we propose an ATM-LAN IWU(interworking unit) with threshold based dynamic bandwidth allocation scheme. We analyze a discrete-time based finite queueing model with deterministic service times in order to investigate the performance of the proposed scheme. It is known that the arrival process of IP packets is bursty. So we use an MMPP(Markov Modulated Poisson Process) to model the bursty input traffic. As performance measures, we obtain the packet loss probability and the mean packet delay. We present some numerical results to show the effects of the thresholds on the performance of the DBAS(dynamic bandwidth allocation scheme).
