  • The aim of this study was to develop an efficient quantitative method for the determination of acetaldehyde (AA) and formaldehyde (FA) contents in solid and liquid food matrices. The determination of those compounds was validated and performed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry combined by solid phase micro-extraction after derivatization with O-(2,3,4,5,6-pentafluoro-benzyl)-hydroxylamine hydrochloride. Validation was carried out in terms of limit of detection, limit of quantitation, linearity, precision, and recovery. Then their contents were analyzed in various food samples including 15 fruits, 22 milk products, 31 alcohol-free beverages, and 13 alcoholic beverages. The highest contents of AA and FA were determined in a white wine (40,607.02 ng/g) and an instant coffee (1,522.46 ng/g), respectively.

  • As the area of software application is increased. the software is becoming larger and more complex. In addition, development of the high quality software within the limits of the budget is strongly demanded. Many methodologies, such as software process improvement, object-ori-ented development, requirement-engineering, and software metrics have been introduced in the software development process in order to attain such objectives. Among those techniques. Requirements-Engineering gives basic guideline to develop high quality software. In other word. in order to develop high quality software, requirements should be elicited, and described. And with proper reviews and management. the quality of requirements can be improved. In this paper, quantitative measurement method that is based on IEEE Std-830-1998 for the require-ment-specifications is proposed.

  • Purpose: This study is an integrative review of previous research conducted on family-school nurse partnership in school health care, as perceived by school nurses, children, and families. Method: The study was conducted according to the five stages of integrative review suggested by Whittemore and Knafl (2005), which involved problem identification, literature search, data evaluation, data analysis, and presentation of results. Suitable literature was found using portals such as PubMed, CINAHL, Embase, and Web of Science. Key words such as school nurses, family, parents, children, and partnership were used to narrow the search results. Studies published in peer-review journals between 2006-2018 were selected. The quality of studies was appraised using critical appraisal tools provided by the Joanna Briggs Institute (2020). Result: Thirteen studies (5 quantitative and 8 qualitative) were finalized for the final review process. After an extensive review, four key themes of school nurse-family partnership in school health care were identified: partnership components, partnership barriers, partnership facilitators, and strategies to promote partnership. Conclusion: Partnership and its components, barriers, and facilitators, along with strategies for its promotion should be considered in school health care. Further studies are needed on the perceptions held by parents and children regarding school health care partnership.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify trends in intervention studies on childhood obesity in Korea. Methods: From 1996, when the first research paper on childhood obesity intervention was published, to 2015, 192 published papers were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results: The number of studies increased sharply between 1996 and 2007, but declined slightly from then. The majority of studies involved only children as intervention participants. Most were elementary students, and overweight and obese children. Exercise therapy was the most common type of intervention. Parental participation was found in 35 studies, while teacher's participation was found in only one study. In many studies physiological indicators were used as measurement variables, but follow-up was done in only 10 studies. Finally, only a few studies applied a conceptual framework, while a quasi-experimental research design was used for most studies. Conclusion: Examination of trends in intervention studies on childhood obesity in Korea, shows there has been a quantitative increase but not enough improvement in terms of the quality of interventions. Findings in the present study suggest that it is necessary to seek diversity in terms of study participants, interventions and evaluation method along with quality improvement in research methodology.

  • The visibility deteriorates in hazy weather and it is difficult to accurately recognize information captured by the camera. Research is being actively conducted to remove haze so that camera-based applications such as object localization/detection and lane recognition can operate normally even in hazy weather. In this paper, we propose a nonlinear model for depth map estimation through an extensive analysis that the difference between brightness and saturation in hazy image increases non-linearly with the depth of the image. The quantitative evaluation(MSE, SSIM, TMQI) shows that the proposed haze removal method based on the nonlinear model is superior to other state-of-the-art methods.

  • The objective of this study is to quantitatively incorporate user observation into usability evaluation of mobile interfaces using monitoring techniques in first- and third-person points of view. In this study, an experiment was conducted to monitor and record users' behavior using Ergoneers Dikablis, a gaze tracking device. The experiment was done with 2 mobile phones each with a button keypad interface and a touchscreen interface for comparative analysis. The subjects included 20 people who have similar experiences and proficiency in using mobile devices. Data from video recordings were coded with Noldus Observer XT to find usage patterns and to gather quantitative data for analysis in terms of effectiveness, efficiency and satisfaction. Results showed that the button keypad interface was generally better than the touchcreen interface. The movements of the fingers and gaze were much simpler when performing given tasks on the button keypad interface. While previous studies have mostly evaluated usability with performance measures by only looking at task results, this study can be expected to contribute by suggesting a method in which the behavioral patterns of interaction is evaluated.
