Performance Improvement and ASIC Design of OAM Function Using Special Cell Field (특별 셀 영역을 이용한 OAM 기능의 성능 향상 및 ASIC 설계)

  • In this paper, the novel scheme of OAM performance management function is proposed to supply the most of network resources and reliable services by processing data having various QoS(quality of service) in the view of cell loss and cell delay of ATM networks Also, the special fields of OAM cell are defined in order to improve correlate control, operation, and management technique between networks which is required to flexibility and precision control as detecting the performance information of the variable networks periodically. The proposed OAM function, the input/output function of cell, and the interface function of the accessory device which is likely to the memory/CPU are designed to ASIC. The designed chip is carried out the back-end simulation using Verilog-XL simulator of Cadence. In result, it is able to performs an accurate control in $2{\mu}s$.

Efficient Virtual Machine Resource Management for Media Cloud Computing

  • Virtual Machine (VM) resource management is crucial to satisfy the Quality of Service (QoS) demands of various multimedia services in a media cloud platform. To this end, this paper presents a VM resource allocation model that dynamically and optimally utilizes VM resources to satisfy QoS requirements of media-rich cloud services or applications. It additionally maintains high system utilization by avoiding the over-provisioning of VM resources to services or applications. The objective is to 1) minimize the number of physical machines for cost reduction and energy saving; 2) control the processing delay of media services to improve response time; and 3) achieve load balancing or overall utilization of physical resources. The proposed VM allocation is mapped into the multidimensional bin-packing problem, which is NP-complete. To solve this problem, we have designed a Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) model, as well as heuristics for quantitatively optimizing the VM allocation. The simulation results show that our scheme outperforms the existing VM allocation schemes in a media cloud environment, in terms of cost reduction, response time reduction and QoS guarantee.

  • Diff-Serv(DS) is a mechanism by which network service providers can offer differing levels of network service to different traffic, in so providing quality of service(QoS) to their customers. Because this mechanism has been deployed just for fixed hosts with the Token Bucket mechanism according to AggF(Aggregate Flow) instead of each flow, DS can not suggest effective usability of traffic resources. In this paper, we use WFQ mechanism for traffic conditioner and scheduling method monitoring the AggF and the results will be used to control the next flows coming in TC. So it will control traffic rate dynamically and suggest efficient usability of bandwidth.

  • Most of the existing algorithms try to disseminate the multimedia contents of internet service provider (ISP), without taking into account characteristics and capacities of duplicated servers. However, they are less reliable without prior information on capacities of duplicated servers. In this paper we propose two algorithms, performance rating algorithm of hardware and capacity algorithm, inspired by the need of improving QoS of delivering multimedia contents without incurring long access delays when the capacities of duplicated servers are significantly different and clients locate in a fixed geographical domain Our simulation results show that they are better than HTTP response time algorithm when the multimedia contents are large and quite different from performances between duplicated servers.

A Novel Adaptive Routing Algorithm for Delay-Sensitive Service in Multihop LEO Satellite Network

  • The Low Earth Orbit satellite network has the unique characteristics of the non-uniform and time-variant traffic load distribution, which often causes severe link congestion and thus results in poor performance for delay-sensitive flows, especially when the network is heavily loaded. To solve this problem, a novel adaptive routing algorithm, referred to as the delay-oriented adaptive routing algorithm (DOAR), is proposed. Different from current reactive schemes, DOAR employs Destination-Sequenced Distance-Vector (DSDV) routing algorithm, which is a proactive scheme. DSDV is extended to a multipath QoS version to generate alternative routes in active with real-time delay metric, which leads to two significant advantages. First, the flows can be timely and accurately detected for route adjustment. Second, it enables fast, flexible, and optimized QoS matching between the alternative routes and adjustment requiring flows and meanwhile avoids delay growth caused by increased hop number and diffused congestion range. In addition, a retrospective route adjustment requesting scheme is designed in DOAR to enlarge the alternative routes set in the severe congestion state in a large area. Simulation result suggests that DOAR performs better than typical adaptive routing algorithms in terms of the throughput and the delay in a variety of traffic intensity.

  • Traffic offloading is a promising solution to solve the explosive growth of mobile traffic. One of offloading schemes, in LIPA/SIPTO(Local IP Access and Selected IP Traffic Offload) offloading, we can offload mobile traffic that can satisfy QoS requirement for application. In addition, it is necessary for traffic offloading using social context due to large traffic from SNS. Thus, we propose the LIPA/SIPTO offloading algorithm using social context. We define the application selection probability using social context, the application popularity. Then, we find the optimal offloading weighting factor to maximize the QoS(Quality of Service) of small cell users in term of effective data rate. Finally, we determine the offloading ratio by this application selection probability and optimal offloading weighting factor. By performance analysis, the effective data rate achievement ratio of the proposed algorithm is similar with the conventional one although the total offloading ratio of the proposed algorithm is about 46 percent of the conventional one.

  • A sensor networkis composed of a large number of sensor nodes, which are densely deployed either inside the phenomenon or very close to it. One of the most important constraints on sensor nodes is the low power consumption requirement. Sensor nodes carry limited, generally irreplaceable, power sources. Therefore, while traditional networks aim to achieve high quality of service (QoS) provisions, sensor network protocols must focus primarily on power conservation. This paper presents the characteristics of energy consuming, average delay in 802.11 MAC, S-MAC that is specifically designed for wireless sensor networks. We analyze the energy consuming state in the 802.11 MAC in the simulation topology nodes, and measure average delay in 802.11 and S-MAC. Energy efficiency is the primary goal in this protocol design. 802.11 MAC is more efficient than S-MAC in the average delay, throughput. However S-MAC is an energy efficient protocol, a tradeoff between energy efficiency and delay.

  • 무선 이동 통신망은 기존의 음성위주로 제공되던 단일 미디어 서비스의 제공으로부터 발전되어 2000년대 초까지 이동 사용자에게 고품질의 멀티미디어 데이타 서비스를 제공하고, 장소에 제한을 받지 않고 서비스를 제공받을 수 있도록 하는 IMT-2000을 실현을 목표로 발전하고 있다. 또한 다수의 서비스 사용자와 광대역의 데이타를 전송하기 위해서 셀의 반경은 점차로 축소되고 있다. 이에 따라서, 사용자의 위치등록과 핸드오버와 같은 처리에 대한 부하가 커지게 되었다. 그러므로 무선 이동통신에서 서비스 이용자에게 일정 수준 이상의 QoS를 보장해 주기 위해서 효율적인 핸드오버 알고리즘의 도입은 매우 중요한 문제가 되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 IMT-2000환경에서 보다 효율적인 QoS를 서비스 사용자에게 제공해 줄 수 있도록 하기 위해 다양한 이동체의 속도와 멀티미디어 트래픽 특성을 동시에 고려하여 신뢰성 있는 핸드오버를 제공하는 H-PS(Hybrid-Priority Scheme)알고리즘을 제안하고 시뮬레이션을 통해 성능을 분석한다.Abstract Wireless mobile communications is developed from the only single voice traffic sevice to multimedia sevices. And mobile communications will evolve IMT-2000, which is provide users with high quality multimedia services. A radius of cell is gradually reduced to accept many service users and transport the multimedia traffics. Therefore, a overhead of location tracking and handover processing are increased. Then to guarantee high QoS to service users in wireless mobile communications, efficient handover algorithm is very important issue.In this study, we propose a H-PS(Hybrid-Priority Scheme) handover scheme considering mobility and traffic characteristics in IMT-2000 networks. And performance evaluate using simulation.

  • With the rapid development of computer networks, how to speed up network services and to guarantee QoS (Quality-of-Service) for users has drawn much attention from computer scientists. So has the need to manage network application services in order to manage network resources more effectively and meet the users' demands. In this paper, we present methodology of determining the traffic of application services on the network, so as to manage network resources effectively and thus to make application services more user-oriented. On the basis of this methodology and by using RMON MIB we develop analysis parameters and their algorithm to manage the traffic of application services on the network, thus realizing Web-based Application Management System which allows network managers to extract and analyze the Internet application service traffic beyond the limitation of time and space.

  • Recently, as the use of mobile terminal is generalized, the needs of high-speed Internet mobile service is increased. Also users want to receive the multimedia contents what they want through the various terminals in anywhere, anytime via wired and wireless integrated environment. Therefore, various mechanisms that support the mobility are proposed. However, these mechanisms are difficult to support seamless mobility and QoS awareness on the mobile multicast environment. In this paper, we propose a QoS aware handover mechanism that is able to provide the high-quality and real-time services such as mobile IPTV in an integrated environment for these requests of users. Proposed mechanism manages the multicast admission control and multicast handover using the 2-layer multicast information management at the wired and wireless integrated network that extended the service guaranteed methods through the probing based admission control of the wired network to the wireless network based on PMIPv6. We present a performance evaluation results and features analyzed by the simulations using the ㎱-2.
