  • Wireless communication is one of most active areas in modern communication researches, QoS (Quality of Service) assurance is very important for wireless communication systems design, especially for applications such as streaming video etc., which requires strict QoS assurance. The modern wireless networks multi-layer protocol stack structure results in QoS metrics layered and acting in cascade and QoS metrics vertical mapping between protocol layers. Based on virtual buffer between protocol layers and queuing technology, a unified layered QoS mapping framework is proposed in this paper, in which we first propose virtual queue concept, give a novelty united neighboring protocol layers QoS metric mapping framework, and analysis method based on dicerete-time Markov chain, and numerical results show that our proposed framework represents a significant improvement over previous model.

All metrics work without reference signals, allowing non-intrusive, in-service measurements. A simple and easy-to-learn user interface displays the metrics and saves them in popular file formats like CSV. In this paper, proposed method was able to various and corrective measurement for the multimedia service video quality. As that it was able to application to set up service guide line and the methode of measurement and system for the set up standardization of the high quality video service.

  • This paper is presented to prepare NGN quality assurance management process under the quality system test methodology. The process should be drawn for NGN quality measurement framework of multimedia traffic. NGN test bed management process model are QoS measurement metrics, measurement interval meter above, and measuring tools, measuring equipment, measurement methods and measurement results from a series of processes for the analysis and methodology. This model, NGN quality assurance activities should be utilized in the future. Quality target level only when themselves constantly measured and managed, does not guarantee the communication quality of service. It is sensitive to the importance of NGN network technology paradigm for research on quality management in the NGN.

  • In this work, we propose an analytic framework for dimensioning the link capacity of broadband access networks which provide universal broadband access services to a diverse kind of customers such as patient and impatient customers. The proposed framework takes into account the flow-level quality of service (QoS) of a connection as well as the packet-level QoS, via which a simple and systematic provisioning and operation of the network are provided. To that purpose, we first discuss the necessity of flow-aware network dimensioning by reviewing the networking technologies of the current and future access network. Next, we propose an analytic model for dimensioning the link capacity for an access node of broadband convergence networks which takes into account both the flow and packet level QoS requirements. By carrying out extensive numerical experiment for the proposed model assuming typical parameters that represent real network environment, the validity of the proposed method is assessed.

차세대 인터넷에서 QoS 제공을 위하여 RSVP(Resource Reservation Protocol), MPLS(Multi-Protocol Label Switching), DiffServ 및 QoS 라우팅 등의 기법이 개발되고 표준화되고 있다.

  • Recently, the metropolitan area network (MAN) has attracted much attention in telecommunication research and has emerged as one of the most important research topics in the community. Several standards representing the first step for developing metropolitan networks have been published; IEEE 802.16 (WiMAX) has taken a relevant role in reaching the goal of realizing a full-service network all over a urban and suburban area. At the same time, the wireless local area networks (WLAN) have been widely used for in-home or short range communications, mainly basing on the IEEE 802.11 (WiFi) standard. A consequence is the increasing interest in interworking technology, that allows an interconnection between different standards by maintaining certain properties, mainly in terms of quality of service (QoS). One of the major issues is to design bridging devices capable of transparently interconnect different wireless technologies. In this paper, we propose two interconnection bridging solutions between WiMAX and WiFi links; the first is more based on the concept of maintaining a certain end-to-end QoS level independently from the wireless technologies used. The second method is more devoted to the reduction of the implementation complexity at the cost of no QoS assurance. The performance of the two methods are compared by resorting to computer simulations showing the advantages of each one technique.

  • Differentiated services (DiffServ) architecture defines a new framework for the support of quality of service (QoS) in IP-based networks. RIO has received the most attention among all the active queue management mechanisms proposed for assured service in DiffServ environment. The paper proposed the enhanced RIO which could alleviate the impact of flow's packet sire on the realized throughput. The simulation results indicate that this mechanism, when combined with TSW as traffic conditioner, provide better throughput assurance and fair distribution of excess bandwidth independent of packet size of flows in case of well-provisioned network environment.

  • The development of Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks(WMSNs) is getting realized in accordance with the increased demands to provide multimedia data transmission service such as CCTV movie, image chapter information, audio information based on wireless sensor network. It is very important to provide the differentiated quality assurance of service. In this paper, we propose a sensor medium access control protocol based on DSMAC, which provides differentiated Quality of Service(QoS) for delay. A proposed protocol is able to reduce the delay without increasing the energy consumption by adaptively changing the duty cycle according to the buffer occupancy. Simulation results show that the new MAC protocol performs better in terms of latency than S-MAC and DSMAC.

  • We propose the QoS (Quality of Service) assurance model for AMR (Adaptive MultiRate) voice users considering the capacity and service quality jointly in downlink WCDMA system. For this purpose, we introduce a new system performance measure and the number-based AMR mode allocation scheme. The proposed number-based AMR mode allocation can be operated only with the information of total number of ongoing users. Therefore, it can be more simply implemented than the existing power-based allocation. The proposed system performance measure considers the stochastic variations of AMR modes of ongoing users and can be analytically obtained using CTMC (Continuous Time Markov Chain) modeling. In order to validate the proposed analytical model, a discrete event-based simulation model is also developed. The performance measure obtained from the analytical model is in agreement with the simulation results and is expected to be useful for parameter optimization.
