  • This research was conducted in order to examine previous studies on paternal parenting methods involving adolescent children in terms of their academic field, research period, method and subjects, and family variables. A total of 104 research publications from the period between 2003 and 2022 were investigated, with 99 quantitative research (43 theses and 56 academic journals) and five qualitative data sources. The analysis results show that the topic of fathers with adolescent children was the most studied in the field of education, and it rapidly increased from 2011 to 2014 and then rapidly decreased from 2019. The main subject of the studies was middle-school students, while most of the studies adopted a quantitative approach, with a minimal number of qualitative studies. Parenting studies were concentrated on father variables and several such studies were found to be related to positive resources such as self-esteem and self-efficacy as variables of adolescent children related to fathers' parenting. The results of these studies provide meaningful implications for future research on the fathers of adolescent children and can be used as basic data for developing detailed education and programs.

  • Objectives: The objective of this study is to identify the composition of dominant microorganisms in waste handling industries. Methods: We collected airborne bacteria and fungi by agar plate impaction method in recyclable waste sorting industry, food recycling industry, landfill and incineration. Isolated dominant microorganisms were identified by VITEK system or morphological analysis. Results: We isolated totally 330 microorganisms in the process and outdoor. Bacillus was the most dominant genus in the all industries, and Sphingomonas, Acinetobacter, Staphylococcus, and Proteus was dominant bacterial genus. The dominant genus of fungi was Penicillium, Aspergillus, and Cladosporium in each industries. Enterobacter, Pseudomonas, Klebsiella, and Proteus was identified as the dominant gram negative bacteria. The ratio of bacteria being biosafety levels(class 1 or 2) was 58.3~77.8%. Conclusions: This study has investigated the dominant microorganisms in the waste handling industries. The genus of dominant microorganisms was similar among the industries but the composition was different. We used biosafety levels as qualitative method, but further studies are needed about specific process of qualitative evaluation methods.

  • Korean clients show a tendency to hide the real causes of problem. Therefore the 'grasping the real cause of a problem' is regarded as the first characteristic in Reality Dynamic Counseling. Many counselors stress over how express empathy with a client rather than understanding a problem. However the attitude change wouldn't be attained without grasping the real cause of a problem. The researcher tries to demonstrate how this characteristic is at play in counseling process. The researcher illustrates this process by 'narrative method' as one of qualitative research methods. The client who had received counseling for stress disorder and insomnia took a turn for the better as soon as getting at the truth of his problem.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze research trends on subjective well-being in the elderly. To this end, 49 academic papers (general characteristics, research subjects, number of researchers, research variables, and research methods) retrieved through RISS were classified according to criteria. One or two research papers have been steadily published starting with two in 1988, but a slight increase in 2009 and 2010, four each, and five in 2014, respectively. By sample size, 201 to 300 were the most frequent with 14 studies. Quantitative studies were the most common as a research method, but 2 qualitative studies and 2 longitudinal studies were identified through trend analysis. It was confirmed that there are many variables related to physical health such as leisure sports, physical activity, sports for all, dance sports, and mobility discomfort as research topics. The number of studies on the elderly should be increased, and the need for qualitative research to explore the life experiences and meanings of old age is suggested.
