The Etymological Study in Synonyms of Chinese Character 'Xing(行)' (『광아소증(廣雅疏證)』의 '행(行)'의자(義字) 훈고(訓詁)에 보이는 성동성근자(聲同聲近字)에 대한 고찰)

  • Guang-ya(廣雅) compiled by Zhang Ji(張揖), in about A.D. 227, is a dictionary of synonyms. Wang Nian-sun(王念孫) discriminated among synonyms by Guang-ya-shu-zheng(廣雅疏證) in about A.D. 1795. In his book, Wang Nian-sun(王念孫) annotated synonyms of Chinese characters in Guang-ya(廣雅). At the same time, he also tried to find out the homophonic and synonymic relationship in Chinese characters. These are the foundation of the graphonomy of Chinese characters. So we can say, Wang Nian-sun(王念孫) made the greatest contribution to the theoretical construction to the etymology of Chinese characters. The outstanding dictionaries of Chinese characters were Shuo-wen(說文) by Xu-shen(許愼), Shuo-wen-jie-zi-zhu(說文解字注) by Duan Yu-cai(段玉裁) and Shuo-wen-tong-xun-ding-sheng(說文通訓定聲) by Zhu Jun-sheng(朱駿聲). These books described Chinese characters and also analyzed the homophonic and synonymic relationship in Chinese characters. The representative dictionaries in the etymology of Chinese characters was Wen-shi(文始) by Zhang Tai-yan(章太炎). The homophonic and synonymic relationship in Chinese characters was described and analyzed in this book. This report consists of five chapters. The first chapter gives the purpose of the etymological study in synonyms of Chinese character 'Xing(行)'. The second chapter gives analysis of the Yi-ti-zi(異體字) in synonyms of Chinese character 'Xing(行)' in Guang-ya-shu-zheng(廣雅疏證). The third chapter gives analysis of the Jia-jie-zi(假借字) in synonyms of Chinese character 'Xing(行)' in Guang-ya-shu-zheng(廣雅疏證). The fourth chapter gives analysis of the Tong-yuan-zi(同源字) in synonyms of Chinese character 'Xing(行)' in Guang-ya-shu-zheng(廣雅疏證). This report also gives analysis of the etymological study in synonyms of Chinese character 'Xing(行)' in Shuo-wen(說文), Shuo-wen-jie-zi-zhu(說文解字注), Shuo-wen-tong-xun-ding-sheng(說文通訓定聲). The concluding chapter provides the summary of the preceding chapters and the description of conclusion.

Performance Evaluation of Chest X-ray Image Deep Learning Classification Model according to Application of Optimization Algorithm and Learning Rate (최적화 알고리즘과 학습률 적용에 따른 흉부 X선 영상 딥러닝 분류 모델 성능평가)

  • Recently, research and development on automatic diagnosis solutions in the medical imaging field using deep learning are actively underway. In this study, we sought to find a fast and accurate classification deep learning modeling for classification of pneumonia in chest images using Inception V3, a deep learning model based on a convolutional artificial neural network. For this reason, after applying the optimization algorithms AdaGrad, RMS Prop, and Adam to deep learning modeling, deep learning modeling was implemented by selectively applying learning rates of 0.01 and 0.001, and then the performance of chest X-ray image pneumonia classification was compared and evaluated. As a result of the study, in verification modeling that can evaluate the performance of the classification model and the learning state of the artificial neural network, it was found that the performance of deep learning modeling for classification of the presence or absence of pneumonia in chest X-ray images was the best when applying Adam as the optimization algorithm with a learning rate of 0.001. I was able to. And in the case of Adam, which is mainly applied as an optimization algorithm when designing deep learning modeling, it showed excellent performance and excellent metric results when selectively applying learning rates of 0.01 and 0.001. In the metric evaluation of test modeling, AdaGrad, which applied a learning rate of 0.1, showed the best results. Based on these results, when designing deep learning modeling for binary-based medical image classification, in order to expect quick and accurate performance, a learning rate of 0.01 is preferentially applied when applying Adam as an optimization algorithm, and a learning rate of 0.01 is preferentially applied when applying AdaGrad. I recommend doing this. In addition, it is expected that the results of this study will be presented as basic data during similar research in the future, and it is expected to be used as useful data in the health and bio industries for the purpose of automatic diagnosis of medical images using deep learning.

The Type and Characteristics of Education Archives at Seowon in Joseon (조선시대 서원(書院) 강학(講學) 관련 자료의 유형과 특징)

  • The purpose of this study is to collect, to classify education archives of Joseon Seowon, and to examine characteristics of education archives. The subjects of this study are Sosu-Seowon, Dosan-Seowon, Dodong-Seowon, Oksan-Seowon, Donam-Seowon. According to the contents and nature of the archives, I divided educational archives into four types: the record of rules of Seowon education, the record of actual education, the record of ritual, and the record of financial. First, through the record of rules, I have identified how the rules are passed down and changed from Seowon to Seowon and impact of book publishing and distribution on changes in Seowon Curriculum. Secondly, through the record of educational practice, I have examined the size of students participating in Seowon education, the role of officers, the procedures and methods of education, the daily routine in Seowon, the methods of discussion and questions in lectures, and the role of teachers in discussions etc. Third, through the record of rituals, I examined customary rituals such as Gyeongdok(敬 讀), the rites for opening class(開接禮) and the last class(罷接禮), and the rites for Master-Disciple Relationshipe(贄禮) in addition to official rites such as Jeongeuprye(庭揖 禮) and Sangeuprye(相揖禮). Fourth, through the record of financial, we could see howthe late Joseon Seowon tried to continue the education by setting up a financial institution dedicated to education despite severe financial difficulties. The classification criteria and the typification method of education archives of Joseon Seowon that have been attempted in this study can be used as a model for systematically collecting and organizing the education archives of Joseon Seowon. However, this needs to be supplemented and discussed further. In addition, if a methodology can be developed to collect a wide range of materials that have been scattered over various materials through the classification and typification of the materials, it will contribute to expanding the horizon of Seowon research in the future

Characteristics and Properties of Kombucha Supplemented with Herbal Ingredients (한방재 첨가 콤부차의 성상 및 특성)

  • Background: Kombucha, originating from Northeast Asia, is a fermented beverage produced by fermenting black tea with a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast, renowned for its myriad health benefits. The augmentation of its health-promoting attributes, particularly antioxidant properties, through the integration of medicinal herb extracts, has gained attention in recent research. Purpose: The objective of this research was to explore the potential enhancement of the antioxidant properties of kombucha through the addition of hot water extracts from selected 7 medicinal herbs native to Jeju Island. Additionally, the study aimed to ascertain the successful transfer of active herbal ingredients into the kombucha. Methods: The methodology entailed the hot water extraction of the aforementioned medicinal herbs followed by their incorporation into the kombucha during a secondary fermentation phase. The assessment criteria included the analysis of the kombucha's physical characteristics post-fermentation, the quantification of sugar content, and the evaluation of antioxidant using DPPH, ABTS assays. The presence of specific active compounds(EGCG, 2,5-DHAP) was verified using HPLC and SDS-Gel Electrophoresis. Results: The findings indicated a successful fermentation process, as evidenced by an increase in reducing sugars. Moreover, the kombucha exhibited notable antioxidant activities post-fermentation, which implies the effective infusion of the herbal extracts' properties into the beverage. HPLC and electrophoresis analysis confirmed the assimilation of key active ingredients from the herbs into the kombucha. Conclusions: This study substantiates the premise that the enrichment of kombucha with hot water extracts from Jeju Island's medicinal herbs enhances its antioxidant properties. The successful integration of these herbal components into kombucha not only amplifies its health benefits but also contributes to the expansion of the functional beverage sector within the domains of health and alternative medicine.

Changes in the Stress of Participants in the Holistic Therapy Program (Holistic Therapy 프로그램 참여자의 스트레스 변화)

  • Purpose: For modern people, stress is a major cause of all physical and mental illnesses. Natural healing is useful for a healthy life by reducing stress because it not only heals diseases, but also heals the body, mind, and diseases holistically. This study explores the stress change process experiences and essence of participants in the Holistic Therapy program through the grounded theory method. Method: Of the 62 participants in the Holistic Therapy program, data were collected two to three times for 12 people with large stress changes, about 90 minutes each, and through individual interviews. Data analysis was performed by open coding, axial coding, selective coding, process analysis, core categories, and type analysis according to Strauss & Corbin's grounded theory method. Results: As a result of data analysis according to the grounded theory method, 106 concepts, 47 subcategories, and 21 categories were finally derived. The derived stress change process appeared in four stages: fear, conflict, effort, and adaptation to change. Based on the results of selective coding, the core category was derived as the process of 'self-change and life change through stress overcoming'. The adaptation types that appeared in the stress change process were thought avoidance type, emotional suppression type, and behavioral impulse type. In the Holistic Therapy program, the stress of 12 participants with a large trend of stress change changed by experiencing happiness and pleasure through love and respect. As participants participated in the program, they escaped from negative emotions, and as their lives changed, they became motivated to live, and they lived a changed life through hope and vision. Conclusion: Conclusion: It was confirmed that it was useful as a healing therapy through the experience of stress change process through participation in the Holistic Therapy program. This study is meaningful in that the Holistic Therapy program explores the stress change process, stage, and stress application type as grounded theory.

Synthetic Data Generation with Unity 3D and Unreal Engine for Construction Hazard Scenarios: A Comparative Analysis

  • The construction industry, known for its inherent risks and multiple hazards, necessitates effective solutions for hazard identification and mitigation [1]. To address this need, the implementation of machine learning models specializing in object detection has become increasingly important because this technological approach plays a crucial role in augmenting worker safety by proactively recognizing potential dangers on construction sites [2], [3]. However, the challenge in training these models lies in obtaining accurately labeled datasets, as conventional methods require labor-intensive labeling or costly measurements [4]. To circumvent these challenges, synthetic data generation (SDG) has emerged as a key method for creating realistic and diverse training scenarios [5], [6]. The paper reviews the evolution of synthetic data generation tools, highlighting the shift from earlier solutions like Synthpop and Data Synthesizer to advanced game engines[7]. Among the various gaming platforms, Unity 3D and Unreal Engine stand out due to their advanced capabilities in replicating realistic construction hazard environments [8], [9]. Comparing Unity 3D and Unreal Engine is crucial for evaluating their effectiveness in SDG, aiding developers in selecting the appropriate platform for their needs. For this purpose, this paper conducts a comparative analysis of both engines assessing their ability to create high-fidelity interactive environments. To thoroughly evaluate the suitability of these engines for generating synthetic data in construction site simulations, the focus relies on graphical realism, developer-friendliness, and user interaction capabilities. This evaluation considers these key aspects as they are essential for replicating realistic construction sites, ensuring both high visual fidelity and ease of use for developers. Firstly, graphical realism is crucial for training ML models to recognize the nuanced nature of construction environments. In this aspect, Unreal Engine stands out with its superior graphics quality compared to Unity 3D which typically considered to have less graphical prowess [10]. Secondly, developer-friendliness is vital for those generating synthetic data. Research indicates that Unity 3D is praised for its user-friendly interface and the use of C# scripting, which is widely used in educational settings, making it a popular choice for those new to game development or synthetic data generation. Whereas Unreal Engine, while offering powerful capabilities in terms of realistic graphics, is often viewed as more complex due to its use of C++ scripting and the blueprint system. While the blueprint system is a visual scripting tool that does not require traditional coding, it can be intricate and may present a steeper learning curve, especially for those without prior experience in game development [11]. Lastly, regarding user interaction capabilities, Unity 3D is known for its intuitive interface and versatility, particularly in VR/AR development for various skill levels. In contrast, Unreal Engine, with its advanced graphics and blueprint scripting, is better suited for creating high-end, immersive experiences [12]. Based on current insights, this comparative analysis underscores the user-friendly interface and adaptability of Unity 3D, featuring a built-in perception package that facilitates automatic labeling for SDG [13]. This functionality enhances accessibility and simplifies the SDG process for users. Conversely, Unreal Engine is distinguished by its advanced graphics and realistic rendering capabilities. It offers plugins like EasySynth (which does not provide automatic labeling) and NDDS for SDG [14], [15]. The development complexity associated with Unreal Engine presents challenges for novice users, whereas the more approachable platform of Unity 3D is advantageous for beginners. This research provides an in-depth review of the latest advancements in SDG, shedding light on potential future research and development directions. The study concludes that the integration of such game engines in ML model training markedly enhances hazard recognition and decision-making skills among construction professionals, thereby significantly advancing data acquisition for machine learning in construction safety monitoring.

Effects of Self-Gravity Acupressure on Mood Improvement (자가 중력 지압의 기분 상태 개선 효과)

  • Background: Self-gravity acupressure (SGA), which complements the limitations of conventional manual therapies, is expected to have a positive effect on mood, closely related to reduction in stress. Purpose: This study aims to evaluate changes in mood states by SGA and to discuss its effects on stress relief and immunity. Methods: For 118 subjects (21 males and 97 females) who experienced the SGA program for 75 minutes, their mood states were assessed before and after the SGA session on 5 scales (0-4 points) using K-POMS consisting a total of 65 items grouped in six factors. For calculating the total mood disturbance score (iTMDs), the scores of the items in the only positive mood factor 'vigor-comfort' were reversed to have iTMDS increase the degree of the positive correlation with negative mood states. Results: The iTMDS decreased by 11.50% from 1.09±0.54 before SGA to 0.63±0.40 after SGA (p<0.001). The average score of the only positive factor 'vigor-comfort' increased by 10.78%, from 1.93±1.17 before SGA to 2.38±1.31 after SGA (p<0.001). On the other hand, the factor 'fatigue-inertia' of the 5 negative factors decreased most significantly in its average score by 16.73%, from 1.19±1.24 before SGA to 0.40±0.58 after SGA (p<0.001). The remaining 4 negative factors (depressed state, anxiety-fear, anger-hostility, and uncertainty-helplessness) decreased by within the range of 7.75% to 11.33% (p<0.001). Conclusions: Changes in K-POMS scores observed in this study indicate that the SGA program improves significantly mood. Since a mood state is closely related to stress and immunity, SGA is expected to have effects on stress relief and immunity enhancement (p<0.001). Continued studies are suggested to further validate the present results and to enhance the clinical utility, which include physiological signal measurements and clinical pathological examinations to test the effetcs of SGA on stress management and immunity enhancement.

A Study on the Itch Relief (Barrier Improvement) Effect of Creams containing Siraitia grosvenorii Extract due to Sk in Moisturizing (나한과추출물 함유 크림의 피부 보습에 기인한 가려움 완화(장벽 개선) 효과에 대한 연구)

  • In this study, the effects of relieving itching and improving the barrier due to moisturizing human skin were evaluated for the cream containing Siraitia grosvenorii extract, which is effective in suppressing histamine and improving skin inflammation in the study subjects with itching. 43 female volunteers aged 21 ~ 59 years old (experimental group: 21 and control group 22) suitable for the purpose of the study were used for 4 weeks on the anterior gourd. The evaluation measured the amount of skin moisture and transepidermal moisture loss (TEWL) in the left or right anterior gourd before and after use of the product, and the visual analogue scale (VAS) evaluation due to skin drying, the efficacy and usability questionnaire evaluation of the product, and skin safety evaluation were conducted. As a result of the analysis, compared to before product use, both the experimental group and the control group showed significant improvement effects according to product use 4 weeks after use on the evaluation items of skin moisture and transepidermal moisture loss and the VAS due to skin dryness. In particular, the experimental group showed a significant improvement effect compared to the control group. As a result of the survey on the efficacy and usability of the product, the subjects of the study in the test group showed higher satisfaction than the control group in the case of the items "relieving itching (suitable)", "moisturizing" and "smoothing" after four weeks of use. In terms of usability, the subjects of the study in the experimental group showed higher satisfaction than the control group in the case of the "scent" and "feeling" items. Based on the above results, it is believed that "cream containing S. grosvenorii extract" has an itch relief (barrier improvement) effect due to skin moisturizing and can be used as a functional product for itching and barrier function improvement.

  • Korea has developed as an influential country over Asia and all over the world based on remarkable economic development. And the background of this development was possible due to the existence of those who sacrificed precious lives and contributed to the nation's existence in the past crisis. Every year, Korea holds an annual commemorative event with people of national merit, Korean War veterans, and their families, expressing gratitude for sacrifices and contributions at home and abroad, and providing economic support. The tragedy of the Korean War and the pro-democracy movement in Korea over the past half century will one day become a history of the distant past over time. As generations change and the purpose and method of exchange by region change, the tragic situation that occurred earlier and the way people sacrificed for the country are expected to be different from before. In particular, it is true that the number of Korean War veterans and their families is gradually decreasing as they are now old. In addition, due to the outbreak of global infectious diseases such as COVID-19, it is difficult to plan and conduct face to face events as well as before. Currently, Korea's digital technology is introducing various methods. 5G communication networks, smart-phones, tablet PCs, and smart devices that can experience virtual reality are already used in our real lives. Business meetings are held in a metaverse environment, and concerts by famous singers are held in an online environment. Artificial intelligence technology has also been introduced in the field of human resource recruitment and customer response services, improving the work efficiency of companies. And it seems that this technology can be used in the field of veterans. In particular, there is a metaverse technology that can vividly show the situation during the Korean War, and a way to digitalize the voices and facial expressions of currently surviving veterans to convey their memories and lessons to future generations in the long run. If this digital technology method is realized on an online platform to hold a veterans' celebration event, veterans and their families on the other side of the world will be able to participate in the event more conveniently.

A Study on the Garden Architectural Characteristics of Italian Renaissance Villa Medici a Fiesole (이탈리아 르네상스 빌라 메디치 피에졸레의 정원건축적 특성)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the garden architectural characteristics of the Villa Medici a Fiesole, which occupies an important place in the Italian Renaissance garden, and it is concluded as follows. First, the Villa Medici a Fiesole was built between 1451 and 1457 for Giovanni, the son of Cosimo, and then owned by many people and came to the present. It was designed by Michelozzo and is the first newly built Renaissance villa to show Alberti's concept of rural residence. Second, the location is the biggest characteristic of the Villa, which was built on the steep slope of the Fiesole and offers a panoramic view of the landscape of Florence. Third, the overall composition of the garden created using the slope is based on three terraces of different heights, and the overall spatial arrangement is made up of an orthogonal axis at which the vertical and horizontal axes intersect around the villa. Fourth, in the case of vegetation and objects, old paulownia, roses, and potted lemon trees are placed on the first terrace on the three lawn flower beds. Fountain and niche are located at the middle and east end of the terrace. The second terrace cannot be reached through stairs, but only through a villa or a ramp outside the door. The second terrace has a wisteria pergola that leads to a secret garden, and in the center of the pergola, there is a staircase that leads to the third terrace. The Secret Garden takes the form of a quarter garden and consists of an oval pond, a coniferous flowerbed, and magnolias. On the third terrace at the bottom, a symmetrically geometric flowerbed spreads out on both sides of a circular fountain, and large lemon trees are in the center of each flowerbed and four magnolias are planted around the fountain.
