Secondly, a differentiated marketing strategy targeting 20-something customers needs to be established as there was a steep rise in the number of customers purchasing clothes on online shopping malls using smart phone devices according to the survey.'Low-price, broad-line strategy'is also required as those surveyed preferred stores offering a wide choice of designs with reasonable price. Considering the survey results that a growing number of people tended to buy a variety of knitwear items regardless of the seasons, knitwear production needs to be diversified in terms of designs and materials. Thirdly, the survey revealed that pastel-colored knitwear was preferred for spring/summer season whereas knitwear with achromatic colors was voted the most-preferred one during the autumn and winter season. In terms of knitwear shapes, the gap between genders continues to narrow and tendency sensitive to fashion trend became more apparent reflecting the change of the times.

  • In the modem times, consumers are exposed in a plethora of advertisements either consciously or unconsciously. Generally, companies try to make eye-catching advertisements by using highly attractive models (HAM). In the case of apparel, consumers mainly collect information on fashion trends from advertisements they see in magazine, newspaper, catalogue, and television programs which are created by marketers. Therefore, the advertisements which are supplied by marketers affect consumers apparel purchasing behavior. In this study, a structural equation model is developed to examine how consumers determine the match-up suitability between models in the advertisements and the apparel they promote. As a result, we find two dimensions, sensuality and cuteness, in model attractiveness. Empirical results show that each dimension of the attractiveness plays different role in enhancing model-apparel match-up in the advertisements. Several implications of this study are discussed.

  • In South Korea, the growth of online shopping malls that are overtaking traditional offline distributors in sales requires the latter to concentrate on developing a variety of contents amidst the ever-changing and competitive market environment. First of all, attention should be paid to information on fashion item materials. This study examined the current status of online shopping malls with a focus on their three different types-specialized malls, general malls, and open markets-and investigated consumers' hedonic shopping motives and influence on fashion materials in terms of purchasing behavior. In doing so, this study surveyed men and women in their 20s-30s residing in Seoul or its surrounding cities and used a total of 255 questionnaires for statistical analysis. The statistical software program SPSS 15.0 was used to conduct frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The study results showed that in general and specialized shopping malls, consumers granted greater reliability and importance to fashion materials when their interest in shopping or attention to fashion items/brands was high and when they wanted rare items. In open markets, the more interest consumers had in shopping and the more sensitive they were to fashion information, the more dependent they were on prices; in other words, prices were found to have a greater influence on their purchase decisions than the quality of fashion materials. The findings of this study would be useful to marketers and distributors who are trying to develop their marketing strategies based on fashion material information, according to the different types of online shopping malls.
