  • 이번 호부터 해설란을 통하여 비파괴검사(非破壞檢査) 기술(技術)에 대한 연재를 시작한다. 앞으로 비파괴검사(非破壞檢査) 기술(技術) 각 분야에 대해 다룰 예정이며 우선 1차적으로 와전류탐상법(渦電流探傷法)에 관해 3회에 걸쳐 게재하기로 한다. 특정한 비파괴검사(非破壞檢査)의 전문가가 아니더라도 쉽게 이해할 수 있도록 가급적 수식은 배제하고 기초적인 이론을 소개할 것이며 특히 현장 적용에 중점을 두어 기술(記述)하고자 한다. 본 원고에서는 원거리 와전류탐상법(渦電流探傷法)(remote field eddy current testing) 이나 펄스 와전류탐상법(渦電流探傷法)(pulsed eddy current testing)과 같은 특수 와전류(渦電流) 기술(技術)은 제외하였으며 본 연구실에서 내부 교육용으로 사용하는 "와전류탐상법(渦電流探傷法) Level I 과정"과 미국금속학회에서 발행한 Metal Handbook, 9th ed., Vol. 17, "Non-destructive Evaluation and Quality Control" 및 기타 관련 기술 자료들을 참고하였으나 일일이 명기하지는 않는다.

Design and Array Signal Suggestion of Array Type Pulsed Eddy Current Probe for Health Monitoring of Metal Tubes (금속배관 건전성 감시를 위한 배열형 펄스와전류 탐촉자의 설계 및 배열신호 제안)

  • An array type probe for monitoring metal tubes is proposed in this paper which utilizes peak value and peak time of a pulsed eddy current(PEC) signal. The probe consists of an array of encircling coils along a tube and the outside of coils is shielded by ferrite to prevent source magnetic fields from directly affecting sensor signals since it is the magnetic fields produced by eddy currents that reflect the condition of metal tubes. The positions of both exciter and sensor coils are consecutively moved automatically so that manual scanning is not necessary. At one position of send-receive coils, peak value and peak time are extracted from a sensor PEC signal and these data are accumulated for all positions to form an array type peak value signal and an array type peak time signal. Numerical simulation was performed using the backward difference method in time and the finite element method for spatial analysis. Simulation results showed that peak value increases and the peak appears earlier as the defect depth or length increases. The proposed array signals are shown to be excellent in reflecting the defect location as well as variations of defect depth and length within the array probe.

  • A pulsed field magnetometer with maximum applied field of 130 kOe has been constructed. The pulsed field generated by a 18 kJ capacitor bank system combined with a pulse coil was damped oscillation with the period of 10.12 ms. Magnetic hysteresis loop was measured by induction method during 10.12 ms of a pulse duration from the first positive to the second positive peak. The difference from DC magnetic properties due to the eddy current effect was inferred below 3% for the NdFeB magnet with the diameter below 5 mm.

  • By appliying an slternate pulsed magnetic field -generated by using a sequential ignition circuit and a magnet exciting circuit- with peak value of about 10 T to the rod type Nd based magnet Nd2Fe12.7Cr1.3B with length of 5 mm and diameter of 3.6 mm, the basic magnetic properties such as saturation magnetization, residual magnetization, coercivity, maximum energy products, magnetic anisotropy and anisotropic field are investigated with obtaining the major and minor J-H loops of the magnet. The increase in coercivity due to eddy currents in ac measurement of coercivity is calculated considering eddy current loss by analyzing a wave of generating magnetic field. The average coercivity calculated for the magnet is about 12.2 kOe, anisotropy magnetic field and anisotropic constant are measured as 60 kOe 2.43 Mj/$m^3$, respectively.

  • THE CARBODY AND BOGIE FRAME OF AN URBAN RAILWAY VEHICLE CONSIST OF MULTI-LAYERED WELDING STRUCTURE. IN KOREA ENDURANCE LIMIT OF AN URBAN RAILWAY VEHICLE IS STSTED IN THE RULE OF MANAGING URBAN RAILWAY VEHICLE UNDER THE LAW OF URBAN RAILWAY. IN KOREA AN URBAN RAILWAY VEHICLE IS DESIGNED AND MADE TO KEEP ITS QUALITY OVER 25 YEARS. WHEN THE RAILWAY VEHICLE BECOMES 25 YEARS OLD, CORROSION OF CARBODY AND UNDER FRAME OF A RAILWAY VEHICLE IS EVALUATED ACCORDING TO THE NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING. IT CAN BE USED AS LONG AS 40 YEARS. IT IS STATED IN THE ARTICLE 4 'THE METHOD AND STANDARDS OF PRECISE DIAGNOSIS' UNDER THE RULE OF MANAGING RAILWAY VEHICLE IN KOREA. SO, IN THIS STUDY, WE HAVE INVESTIGATED PERFORMANCE OF PULSED EDDY CURRENT TESTING METHOD BY MEASURING THICKNESS VARIATION OF FABRICATE OF CARBODY AND UNDER FRAME FOR URBAN RAILROAD CAR. AND THEM, THE PROCESS OF EVALUATING REMAINING LIFE ACCORDING TO TESTING OF CORROSION AMOUNT IS INTRODUCED.

Optimal Structural Design for the Electro-magnectic Launcher (전자력 발사기의 최적 구조 설계)

  • The optimal design for Electro-magnetic Launcher (EML : Rail Gun) considering structural and electrical constraints are presented. For the structure of EML under high pulsed currency, the cross section is minimized subject to maximum stress of each element(rail, side wall, ceramic, and steel) within allowable stress and preload limits. The electrical constraint is the effective ceramic thickness which prevents the eddy current effect reducing the performance of EML. The stress analysis and optimization procedure of 90mm EML is conducted with ANSYS Code. The optimal design under preload is reduced to 53% of area compared with optimal design without preload. In case of rail with arc angle .theta.=45.deg., the performance of EML is the best among the other rail arc angles. The optimal design for rail with arc angle .theta.=45.deg., results in the reduction of 9% of area and 10.4% of deformation compared with Fahrenthold's design. The optimal preload 59.8MPa is much lower than Fahrenthold's design(186MPa). The results show that the optimal design of EML meets the design requirements.
