폐지 복합재료의 물성 (Properties of Waste Paper Composite)

  • Waste paper plastic composites were prepared with old newspaper and old corrugated containers and mixed office waste and those properties were evaluated. The results were summarized as fellows. 1. The strength properties like as tensile and Young's modulus reveled most high level in MOW composite. 2. The coagulation of fibers in paper particle should interrupt equal dispersion of polymer and paper particle. 3. The micrograph of the surface of composites showed the most high dispersion in ONP composite.

가소화 처리 목편으로부터 재조된 복합재료의 물성 (Properties of WPC with Chemical Modified Wood Particles)

  • Wood composite, could generally be made from very fine wood powder(<150 mesh) because more large size of wood particle had much less plasticity compared of polymer. To make more high plasticity of relatively large size of wood particle, wood particles were chemically modified with some reagent for acetylation and esterification, etc. WPC(wood plastic composite) was prepared with chemically modified wood particles and the mechanical properties of WPC were evaluated. WPC of esterified wood with maleic anhydride shows the highest level in tensile strength and breaking elongation.

  • Wood fibers for medium density fiberboard (MDF) was used in the filler layer of the white duplex board for increasing thickness and bulk of the board. The MDF fibers and the old corrugated container (OCC) furnish were refined, and mixed together to form paperboard. At optimum mixing ratios and refining degrees, stiffness and tensile strength of the MDF fiber-containing board were higher than those of the board with 100% OCC. It was found that there was possibility to reduced basis weight of the filler layer down to 90% of the all OCC furnish by judicious selection of the mixing ratio and the refining method of the MDF fibers. Drainage rate increase and potential drying energy savings were additional benefits.

  • Composites of styrene polymers with woody fibers were prepared, and the effect of compatibilizers on their mechanical properties was evaluated. To improve the compatibility of wood fibers and the matrix polymers, styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer(SMA) and maleic anhydride-modified polymers were used as compatibilizers. As results, maleic anhydride-modified polystyrene and SMA were proved to improve the tensile strength of the molded composites, and also were evaluated as good compatibilizers for the wood fiber polystyrene composite. Cellulosic fiber (dissolving pulp) provided better reinforcement than lignocellulosic fiber(thermomechanical pulp). On the contrary in the case of the composite of wood fiber and acrylonitrile-butadiene styrene copolymer(ABS), SMA and maleic anhydride-modified acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer(MABS) did not act as compatibilizers. However, MABS was evaluated as a good polymer matrix to make wood fiber reinforced composite. The tensile properties of the composites of wood fiber and MABS were superior than those of wood fiber-ABS composites.

White ledger의 오존 탈묵 기구 (Ozone Deinking Mechanism of White Ledger)

  • The utilization of wastepaper as a papermaking raw material is everlastingly required for the environmental protection of earth. However the recycling of wastepaper for this purpose cause another problem such as the increasing of the load of wastewater treatment, lower strength properties of paper, and poor printability, etc. The interest in the development of the environmentally friendly deinking technology is increased continuously. Thus, our research team have tried to apply the ozone to the deinking of white ledger and ONP, and obtained the positive results which can be considered as an alternative method for the conventional deinking method. The purpose of this study is to investigate the mechanism of ozone deinking. Styrene acrylate and polystyrene were treated with ozone and measured the change of molecular weight with the GPC. The molecular weight distribution obtained with GPC showed only slight increase by the ozone treatment, and gel formation by the polymerization was observed. Therefore the removal of ink particles with ozone treatment seems to be facilitated by the increase of the brittleness and decrease of adhesive property.

탄소섬유를 이용한 전도성 종이의 제조 및 특성 (Characteristics of Electroconductive Paper Manufactured with Carbon Fiber)

  • Electroconductive papers were manufactured as handsheet by mixing carbon fiber in LBKP and BCTMP. The electrical conductivity of the paper was improved by increasing carbon fiber content and basis weight. The porosity was increased and tensile strength was decreased by the addition of carbon fiber. Electrical conductivity of carbon fiber and BCTMP-based sheet was much better than those of carbon fiber and LBKP-based one. This result indicated that the electrical conductivity of paper can be affected by the kinds of raw material of wood fibers used.

  • Structure and strengths of paper have been studied by analyzing fibers characteristics depending on refining methods. In those studies stock preparation aspect of softwood and hardwood fibers mixing and fibers characteristics was focused for paper quality improvement. In this study drainage of fibers were analyzed to improve the production efficiency and paper product's quality. Fiber properties by one and two-step refining processes were compared. By applying two-step refining processes($2.8kg_f$ and $5.6kg_f$ of refining load), refining efficiency, drainage, and strengths could be improved at specific extent of refining.

Deinking of White Ledger with Ozone

  • The objective of this study is to assess the possibility of ozone as an environmentally friendly new deinking alternative for conventional deinking method. It is well known that the white ledger is very difficult to deink because the toner ink has the peculiar shape and size. Ozonization could remove the ink particles above 300 microns and thus improved the ink removal efficiency. Ozonization also improved the WRV of recycled fiber and apparent density, scott bond strength , breaking length, double fold and tear index. Thus, we believe that ozonization could be used as a deinking means of white ledger instead of the convention미 deinking method.

The Effect of Atmospheric Conditions on the Physical and Mechanical Properties of Linerboard

  • The physical and mechanical properties of linerboard were shown to be affected by changing atmospheric conditions. Two atmospheric conditions were measured in order to investigate how they were affected by different atmospheric conditions on the physical and mechanical properties of domestic linerboard. The basis data set for the standardization research was provided in this study. It is confirmed that the relative humidity seemed to be a major factor on the quality deterioration of a linerboard. Experimental results have shown that the short span compression test (SCT) could be used to evaluate the quality characteristics of linerboardat different moisture content and relative humidity.

활성(活性) 알칼리 농도(濃度)가 일본잎갈나무 UKP의 탈(脫)리그닌에 미치는 영향(影響) (Effect of active alkali concentration on the delignification of Larch UKP)

  • 본실험(本實驗)은 일본잎갈나무재(材)를 공시원료(供試原料)로 하여 UKP 제조시(製造時) 활성(活性)알칼리 농도(濃度)가 탈(脫)리그닌 및 펌프품질에 미치는 영향(影響)을 구명(究明)하여 그 최적(最適) 펄프화 조건(條件)을 확립(確立)코자 실시한 바, 그 결과를 요약(要約)하면 다음과 같다. 1) 일본 잎갈나무재(材)는 비중(比重)이 0.42, 섬유장(纖維長)이 3.34 mm, 섬유폭(纖維幅)이 0.035mm로서 다른 침엽수류(針葉樹類)와 비슷하였다. 2) 일본잎갈나무는 다른 침엽수(針葉樹)와 달리 holocellulose 및 pentosan의 함량(含量)이 낮고 lignin 함량(含量)이 높아 펄프 수율(收率)을 저하(低下)시키는 결점(缺點)을 갖고 있다. 3) 활성(活性)알칼리 농도(濃度)의 증가(增加)에 따라 lignin 함량(含量)과 펄프 수율(收率)이 감소했다. 4) 활성(活性)알칼리 농도(濃度) 18~21%에서 최고(最高)의 정선수율(精選收率)이 나타났다. 5) 탈(脫)리그닌화(化)가 진행(進行)됨에 따라 펄프의 명해성(明解性)이 개선되었다. 6) pulp sheet의 백색도(白色度)는 탈(脫)리그닌정도(程度)와 비례관계가 있었다. 7) 일본잎갈나무 UKP의 비파열도(比破裂度) 및 열단장(裂斷長)은 평균수준 이었으나 비인열도(比引裂度)가 매우 높아 중색열지용(中色裂紙用)으로 적합(適合)하였다. 8) 활성(活性)알칼리 농도(濃度)가 증가(增加)함에 따라 공시(供試)펄프의 제반강도(强度)가 개선되었다.
