Nitrate removal from aqueous solution was investigated using $ZnCl_2$ and phosphoric acid activated carbon developed from pomegranate peel with particle size 0.4 mm. Potassium nitrate solution was used in batch adsorption experiments for nitrate removal from water. The effects of activated carbon dosage, time of contact, and pH were studied. The equilibrium time was fond to be 45 min. Two theoretical adsorption isotherms namely Langmuir and Freundlich were used to describe the experimental results. The Langmuir fit the isotherm with the theoretical adsorption capacity ($q_t$) was fond 78.125 mg g-1. Adsorption kinetics data were modeled using the pseudo-first, pseudo-second order, and intraparticle diffusion models. The results indicate that the second-order model best describes adsorption kinetic data. Results show activated carbon produced from pomegranate is effective for removal of nitrate from aqueous solution.
In this paper, a new fixed point theorem in cone is applied to obtain the existence of at least one positive pseudo-symmetric solution for the second order three-point boundary value problem {x" + f(t, x, x')=0, t $\in$ (0, 1), x(0)=0, x(1)=x($\eta$), where f is nonnegative continuous function; ${\eta}\;{\in}$ (0, 1) and f(t, u, v) = f(1+$\eta$-t, u, -v).
The aim of this work was to investigate the adsorption isotherm and kinetic model for the biosorption of lead $(Pb^{2+})$ by Rhodotorula aurantiaca and to examine the environmental factors for this metal removal. Within five minutes of contact, $Pb^{2+}$ sorption reached nearly 86% of the total $Pb^{2+}$ sorption. The optimum initial pH value for removal of $Pb^{2+}$ was 5.0. The percentage sorption increased steeply with the biomass concentration up to 2 g/l and thereafter remained more or less constant. The Langmuir sorption model provided a good fit throughout the concentration range. The conformity of these data to the Langmuir model indicated that biosorption of $Pb^{2+}$ by R. aurantiaca could be characterized as a monolayer, single-site type phenomenon with no interaction between ions adsorbed in neighboring sites. The maximum $Pb^{2+}$ sorption capacity $(q_{max})$ and Langmuir constant (b) were 46.08 mg/g of biomass and 0.04 l/mg, respectively. The pseudo second-order equation was well fitted to the experimental data. The correlation coefficients for the linear plots of t/q against t for the second-order equation were 0.999 for all the initial concentrations of biosorbent for contact times of 180 min. The theoretical $q_{eq}$ value was very close to the experimental $q_{eq}$ value.
In this paper, novel CMOS pseudo-exponential circuits operating in a class-AB mode are presented. The pseudo-exponential approximation employed is based on second order equations. Such terms are derived in a straightforward way from the inherent nonlinear currents of class-AB transconductors. The cells are appropriate to be integrated in portable equipment due to their compactness and very low power consumption. Measurement results from a fabricated prototype in a 0.5 ${\mu}m$ technology reveal a range of 45 dB with errors lower than ${\pm}0.5$ dB, a power consumption of 100 ${\mu}W$, and an area of 0.01 $mm^2$.

Steel-making slag was investigated as reactive material for removal of cadmium in coastal area. Batch experiments of the sorption isotherm experiment and kinetic sorption experiment were performed. Result of sorption isotherm was more adequately described by Langmuir model than Freundlich model and theoretical maximum capacity (${\beta}$) of cadmium onto steel-making slag was found. Results of kinetic sorption experiments were evaluated by pseudo second order model to investigate sorption characteristics of cadmium onto steel-making slag. Results showed that the equilibrium sorption amount of cadmium (q$q_e$) increased and the rate constant ($k_2$) and initial sorption rate (h) decreased as the initial cadmium concentration increased. The $q_e$ with simulated sea water was similar to that with deionized water and $k_2$ and h with simulated sea water was lower than those with deionized water. Results of kinetic experiments could be used to predict the result from sorption isotherm, since equilibrium sorption amounts calculated by pseudo second order model generally agreed with those measured from sorption isotherm. The reaction time for the target removal rate could be calculated by the pseudo second order model using kinetic sorption tests results.

In this work, batch adsorption of anionic dye acid green-25 (AG-25) from aqueous solution has been carried out at room temperature using anion exchange membrane (DF-120B) as a noval adsorbent. The effect of various experimental parameters such as contact time, membrane dosage, ionic strength and temperature on the adsorption of dye were investigated. Kinetic models namely pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order, Elovich, liquid film diffusion, Bangham and modified freundlich models were employed to evaluate the experimental data. Parameters like adsorption capacities, rate constant and related correlation coefficients for every model are calculated and discussed. It showed that adsorption of AG-25 onto DF-120B followed pseudo-first-order rate expression. Thermodynamic study indicates that adsorption of AG-25 onto DF-120B is an exothermic and spontaneous process.
Cadmium (Cd) adsorption by the activated carbon containing hydroxyapatite (HAP) was investigated. Cd adsorption with different HAP mass ranged from 10% to 30%. With more HAP, more Cd was adsorbed. These results suggest that the higher HAP dose causes an increase of the ion exchange potential in HAP sorbent. Kinetics and equilibrium studies were investigated in series of batch adsorption experiments. Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models were fit to the equilibrium data and Cd adsorption on HAP sorbent were found to follow the Freundlich isotherm model well in the initial adsorbate concentration range. The simple kinetic model, the pseudo first order kinetic model and the pseudo second order kinetic model, were used to investigate the adsorption. The adsorption reaction of Cd followed the pseudo second order kinetic model, and the adsorption pseudo second order kinetic constants ($k_2$) increased with increasing initial HAP amounts onto activated carbon. Also, intraparticle diffusion model was used to investigate the adsorption mechanism between adsorbate and adsorbent in the aqueous phase. Surface adsorption reaction and intraparticle diffusion occur simultaneously Cd adsorption mechanism from aqueous phase in this study.
Adsorption of brilliant blue FCF dye using coal based the granular activated carbon from aqueous solution was investigated. Batch experiments were carried out as a function of the adsorbent dose, initial concentration, contact time and temperature. The equilibrium adsorption data were fitted to Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin models. The results indicate that Freundlich model provides the best correlation of the experimental data. Base on the estimated Freundlich constant (1/n = 0.129~0.212), this process could be employed as an effective treatment method. Adsorption data were modeled using the pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order kinetic equations. It was shown that the pseudo-second-order kinetic equation could describe well the adsorption kinetics. The negative Gibbs free energy value (-4.81~-10.33 kJ/mol) and positive enthalpy value (+78.59 kJ/mol) indicated that the adsorption was a spontaneous and endothermic process.

Adsorption is a widely used technique for the removal of dyes from wastewaters by variety of adsorbents. In this work, the main focus is on the potential assessment of anion exchange membrane for the removal of different dyes using batch system and investigation of experimental data by applying various kinetic and thermodynamic models. The removal of anionic dyes i.e., Eosin-B, Eriochrome Black-T and Congo Red by anion exchange membrane BII from aqueous solution was carried out and effect of various parameters such as contact time, membrane dosage, temperature and ionic strength on the percentage removal of anionic dyes was studied. The experimental data was assessed by kinetic models namely pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order, Elovich liquid film diffusion, Bangham and the modified Freundlich models equation have been used to analyze the experimental data. These results indicate that the adsorption of these anionic dyes on BII follows pseudo-second-order kinetics with maximum values of regression coefficient (0.992-0.998) for all the systems. The adsorption of dyes was more suitable to be controlled by a liquid film diffusion mechanism. The adsorptive removal of dye Eosin-B and Eriochrome Black-T were decreased with temperature and thermodynamic parameters such as free energy (${\Delta}G^o$), enthalpy (${\Delta}H^o$) and entropy (${\Delta}S^o$) for adsorption of dyes on membrane BII were calculated at 298 K, 308 K and 318 K. The values of enthalpy and entropy were negative for EB and EBT representing that the adsorption of these dyes on BII is physiosorptive and exothermic in nature. Whereas the positive values of enthalpy and entropy for CR adsorption on BII, indicating that its adsorption is endothermic and spontaneous in nature. It is evident from this study that anion exchange membrane has shown good potential for the removal of dyes from aqueous solution and it can be used as adsorbent for dues removal on commercial levels.
The adsorption characteristics of amatanth dye by granular activated carbon were experimently investigated in the batch adsorption. Kinetic studies of adsorption of amaranth dye were carried out at 298, 308 and 318 K, using aqueous solutions with 100, 200 and 300 mg/L initial concentration of amatanth. It was established that the adsorption equilibrium of amaranth dye on granular activated carbon was successfully fitted by Langmuir isotherm equation at 298 K. The pseudo first order and pseudo second order models were used to evaluate the kinetic data and the pseudo second order kinetic model was the best with good correlation. Values of the rate constant ($k_2$) have been calculated as 0.1076, 0.0531, and 0.0309 g/mg h at 100, 200 and 300 mg/L initial concentration of amatanth, respectively. Thermodynamic parameter such as activation energy, standard enthalpy, standard entropy and standard free energy were evaluated. The estimated values for standard free energy were -5.08 - -8.10 kJ/mol over activated carbon at 200 mg/L, indicated toward a spontaneous process. The positive value for enthalpy, 38.89 kJ/mol indicates that adsorption interaction of amatanth dye on activated carbon is an endothermic process.
