  • FlexRay is a high-speed communications protocol with high flexibility and reliability. It was devised by automotive manufacturers and semiconductor vendors and implemented as on vehicle LAN protocol using x-by-wire systems. FlexRay provides a high speed serial communication, time triggered bus and fault tolerant communication between electronic devices for automotive applications. In this paper, we first design the FlexRay communication controller, bus guardian protocol specification and function parts using SDL (Specification and Description Language). Then, the system is re-designed using Verilog HDL based on the SDL source. The FlexRay system was synthesized using Samsung $0.35{\mu}m$ technology. It is shown that the designed system can operate in the frequency range above 76 MHz. In addition, to show the validity of the designed FlexRay system, the FlexRay system is combined with automobile advance alarm system in vehicle applications. The FlexRay system is implemented using ALTERA Excalibur ARM EPXA4F672C3. It is shown that the implemented system operates successfully.

  • Research on the Development of EPUB SCP(Secure Content Protection) Technical Specification and International Standardization has been carried out as a R&D project granted by the Korea Copyright Commission since 2014. The research aims to build a standard framework for the EPUB DRM(Digital Rights Management) based on the Readium LCP(Licensed Content Protection) and KS EPUB DRM specifications, to develop element technologies for the framework, and to standardize it as an IDPF(International Digital Publishing Forum) industrial standard. One of the essential features of the EPUB DRM developed though this study is to support the lending model of the digital library. This paper introduces LSD(License Status Document) specification which is a DRM license management protocol for the digital library lending process, and also represents a model which can automatically test the implemented entities of the LSD specification, test scenarios and test materials.

  • Automatic code generating function for security protocol of SPEAR II and IFAD VDM-SL Toolbox supporting formal specification is presented in this paper. Among the functions of these tools we compare and analyze the aspects of functions, users, operation and code generation. And we suggest direction to the developing of safe security S/W. The automatic code generating function for security protocol gives the direction for developing of the safe secure software in formal specification method.

  • The Bluetooth is expected to be one of the most popular wireless telecommunication technology in the near future, and the protocol stack is essential to providing the various services with the Bluetooth-embedding systems or devices. The Bluetooth specification is an open, global specification defining the complete system, however, the protocol stack is usually implemented partly in hardware and partly as software running on its system, with different implementations partitioning the functionality between hardware and software in different ways. I investigate how to design and implement the Bluetooth protocol stack according to its specification. I focus on the HCI and the lower layer of the software protocol stack as a basic step for the development of our own protocol stack. As a result, paper provides how to partitioning the role of HCI layer, and how to implement the relationship between HCI packets, it's functionality and the flow control. Experiments show the discovering other Bluetooth devices and their connection. Furthermore experiments demonstrate the proper operation of data communication between the Bluetooth modules.

  • The technology of Software Defined Radio (SDR) is a possible solution to interwork flexibly between various wireless transport protocols. Ubiquitous network, like u-health service network, includes sensor devices or nodes which do not facilitate all the same transport protocols to access network. As such this may be in such unreachable situations as poverty of all required AP (Access Point)’s, faults or contention in a path of particular protocol communication, etc. This paper presents research results of modeling and simulation to analyze transport performance of multi-protocol ubiquitous network which includes SDR-based interwork nodes and congestion-controlled AP’s. Focusing mainly on dynamics of overall transport performance rather than protocol execution procedures, this paper employs the Zeigler’s DEVS (Discrete Event Systems Specification) methodology and DEVSim++simulation environment to experiment.

  • This paper discusses a common message protocol for green power systems such as tidal, wind, photovoltaic, and solar systems. For this investigations and analysis, existing protocols such as ELCOM-90, TASE.1, ICCP/TASE.2 and SCADA were analyzed for the application of green power systems in view of real-time property and reliability. For the analysis, the practical example of green power system using SACADA and ICCP are investigated and discussed. As a future direction of this investigations, the feasibility analysis of manufacturing message specification(ISO-9560) for green power system is discussed.

  • Given a protocol specification, the task of testing whether an implementation conforms to the specification is called conformance testing. In this paper, the design and implementation of the protocol conformance test system using LAN on heterogeneous systems is descreibed. The test sequence used in this test system is generated using an algorithm on the basis of multiple UIO. The usability of this test system as an application was confirmed by performing the conformance test on the CCITT No.7 TCAP(transaction capabilities application part), implemented by ISDN Laboratory, Korea University in 1990.

  • This paper presents an XML based standard specification of remote control protocol for home appliances. In the framework level, the XML protocol provides a useful bridge between services and platforms. The proposed protocol has been implemented into a personal video recorder for remote recording service. The results imply the potential of global standards for remote control by its minimum overhead in network and processor. The proposed XML is designated RCXML in this paper.

  • Protocol conformance is crucial to inter-operability and cost effective computer communication. Given a protocol specification, the task of checking whether an inplementation conforms to the specification is called conformance testing. The efficiency and fault coverage of conformance testing are largely dependent on how test cases are chosen. Some states may have more one UIO sequence when the protocol is represented by FSM (Finite State Machine). The length of test sequence can be minimized if the optimal test sequences are chosen. In this paper, we construct the depth-tree to find the maximum overlapping among the test sequence. By using the resulting depth-tree, we generate the minimum-length test sequence. We show the example of the minimum-length test sequence obtained by using the resulting depth-tree.
