HDTMA-Bentonite로부터 페놀류 화합물의 경쟁탈착

  • Sorption/desorption studies were conducted to determine sorption/desorption characteristics of phenolic compounds (phenol and 4-chlorophenol) in organically modified natural bentonite. The cationic exchange capacity (CEC) of bentonite was exchanged with a cationic surfactant, hexadecyltrimethylammonium (HDTMA), to enhance the removal capacity of organic phenol contaminants dissolved in aqueous solution. This modification produces a change of the surface property of bentonite from hydrophilic to organophilic. The single-solute and bi-solute competitive adsorptions were performed In batch mode to investigate the removal of two toxic organic Phenols, chlorophenol and 4-chlorophenol on the HDTMA-bentonite. The adsorption affinity of the 4-chlorophenol was higher than phenol due to higher octanol:water partition coefficient (Kow). The single-solute and bi-solute competitive desorptions were also performed investigate the competitive desorption of the phenolic compounds from HDTMA-bentonite. Freundlich model was used to analyze the single-solute adsorption/desorption results, while the IAST model predicted the hi-solute adsorption/desorption equilibria. The IAST model well predicted hi-solute competitive adsorption/desorption behaviors.

Hydrogen Absorption and Electronic Property Change of Yttrium Thin Films

  • Yttrium thin film, 580nm thick, was prepared by electron beam evaporation. Film was hydrogenated room temperature upto 40 bar hydrogen pressure, without any activation process. Hydrogen concentration was determined by a quartz-crystal microbalance(QCM) method. YH2.9 sample was made without any pulverization. Electrical resistance was measured by four-point DC method in the temperature range between room temperature and 30K for various hydrogen concentration, x=0 to 2.9 of YHx sample. Temperature dependent resistance of YH2.9 shows low temperature minimum at 105K, the metal-semiconductor transition at 260K, and a hystersis above 210K.

  • this paper deals with the initial magnetic field decay for a large scale superconducting magnet e.g. NMR/MRI magnet. The high resolution image can not be obained during the periods of the initial field decay. It is known that all superconducting materials have the property of diamagnetism. This diamagnetism is usually explained with the concept of screening current. We assumed that the existence of the screening currebt. we assumed that the existence of the screening current makes the current distribution in the superconducting wire non-uniform. And the initial magnetic field decay is caused steady current state in the view of its pattern. The initial magnetic field decay is caused by the change of the current distribution between the energizing state and persistent current mode. in this paper the theoretical analysis for the current distributions has been introduced for each state. The experiments have been carried out to verify transport currents in order to veperiments, it small at the higher transport current.

  • Structures tend to become high-rise, large and specialized due to the urban concentration. Technology related to the structure and construction is required to improve, for which the use of high strength concrete(HSC) with better material property, and composite member with the combined advantage of both concrete and steel for better performance, is suggested. Over a half of fires, which increase by over 10% every year recently, come from the architectural structure, causing a loss at national level. However, little study has been conducted on the member at high temperature despite the increase in the use of HSC composite members. In this study, the techniques of modeling for analysing by DIANA (Displacement Analyzer) the fire damaged HSC composite compressive members are researched. We can review the effect of change in the steel ratio, section size and the steel ratio on the residual strength of structural members by parameter analysis study.

  • Recently, the environment problems are risen to social problems. People have requested the convenience of a human activity and the enhancement of a human quality. The facility was, however, emphasized on the acquisition and treatment of water with the construction and maintenance of a irrigation and drainage structure. The concept of an environmental friendship has been introduced to change our society structure to an environment friendship at 21th century. But the concept lacks theoretical and systematic foundation. So, The maintenance technique, concrete products and construction methods will be made to be an environment friendship. The standards for environment friendship will be presented.

An Optical Configuration for Vertical Alignment Liquid Crystal cell with Wide Viewing Angle

  • We propose an optical configuration of a vertical alignment (VA) liquid crystal (LC) cell to eliminate the light leakage in the diagonal direction. VA LC cell has an excellent contrast ratio in the normal direction due to the no phase-retardation. However, change of the phase-retardation occurs in all directions, which causes the light leakage and deteriorates the characteristics of the dark state. We designed the LC cell structure composed of multiple combinations with two A-plates and two C-plates in order to achieve wide viewing property on the Poincare sphere. From calculations, we show that the proposed structure can improve the viewing angle characteristics by compensating for the light leakage in all directions.

  • It is nearing the establishment of KAC(Korean Agricultural Chamber) as an institution for intensive reflection of farmer's public opinions in agricultural administration. In this study, researchers examined the management of Agricultural Chambers in France and Japan, which have experienced the action of Agricultural Chamber in advance of Korea. And discussed the anticipated change in agricultural extension taking advantage of departure of KAC. Discourses and movements to establish KAC is putting pressure the existing agricultural extension system into innovation. Taking a side view that there were little contribution of agents belonging to the existing agricultural extension agencies, the problem of restructuring agricultural extension system has assumed very serious dimensions. Therefore, agents in agricultural extension agencies should lay their own view before the probable reorganization of agricultural extension system.

Korean Children's Physical Knowledge Development Derived from Conversation (일상생활의 대화에서 나타난 아동의 물리지식 발달)

  • This study analyzed physical knowledge displayed in the utterances of 10 Korean children 23 - 76 months of age. Utterances were blocked into four-month time periods, except the first two months and classified into 5 categories including properties of physical objects and materials, friction, buoyancy, gravity, and the motion of physical objects. All five types of physical expressions were found in the data of the earliest period the percent age of the properties and motion was higher than the percent of friction, buoyancy, and gravity. Data suggested two transitional points of change in physical knowledge : 2-year-old's descriptions were based only on perceptually salient physical features 3- to 4-year-olds described only end-state results while children older than 4 included systematic causality.

  • Compressibility and deformability of clays change greatly when the clays are subjected to disturbance. These tendencies have been studied. However, the effect of the disturbance on the permeability that consists of consolidation properties has not yet been studied. In this study, relationship between permeability and volume ratio under the different degree of disturbance are experimently obtained. The results indicate that the relations are less influenced if the disturbance is less depending on the kind of soils.

  • An electric power efficiency of electrodeless fluorescent lamp has big relativie propertye of gas in lamp, gas pressure, lamp formation, ingredients of magnetic substance and shape and action frequency etc. We used magnetic substance that open self-examination material of electrodeless fluorescent lamp antenna. Ferrite that is used in this experiment was Mn-Zn type. Coill turn was changed from 13th to 13th turn to recognize brightness change of lamp by winding number. Optical equipment that used in an experiment was used to measure brightness (LS-100). When an electrodeless fluorescent ]amp was made using and T company's PE22, was it showed the highest brightness. As number of winding is increased the brightness increased, and starting characteristic became good.
