현존선에 선박 평형수 처리장치를 설치를 위한 위험도 평가 분석 (Risk Assessment for Retrofitting a Ballast Water Treatment System on an Exising Vessel)

  • Since Ballast Water Management Convention has been adopted, Ballast Water Management Convention is not effected yet. This convention will only enter into force 12 months after its ratification by 30 states, collectively representing 35% of world merchant shipping tonnnage. Morocco, Indonesia and Ghana have ratified this convention during last 29th IMO Assembly meeting which was held in November 2015. In 2016, Belgium, Fiji, Saint Lucia and Peru have become the latest countries to ratify the convention. As of now, 51 states and 34.87% combined merchant fleets are being calculated. BWM convention will be applied to not only new ships but also, existing ships after it is effected. Thus, existing vessel will be retrofitted a Ballast Water Treatment System according to D-2 Requirement until first IOPP nenewal survey after date of entry into force of the convention. Currently, about 65 BWTSs certified by Administration will be reported to IMO, even type of BWTSs is very various. Thus, a risk of each BWTS can be existed, and this existed risk can be also effected to ship's crew safety and protection of ship's own property. Therefore, we have evaluated a risk assessment for an existing vessel retrofitting an ultra violet type Ballast Water Treatment System which is mostly developed in the world. And we described the procedure of selecting a sample vessel, consequently, bulk carrier is selected because this vessel kind is mostly charged in the world. Especially, DWT 175K size is selected. Risk Assessment is using a HAZID and HAZOP method, evaluation method is referred to IMO Document "Considerated test of the Guidelines for Formal Safety Assessment (FSA) for use in the IMO rule-marking process(MSC/Circ.1203-MEPC/Circ.392)". The Risk Assessment Section is decided to 3 Nodes, Consequently, total risks have evaluated 51 items.

국내 토양과 지하수 오염 복원사업에 대한 고찰 (Remediation of Contaminated Soil and Groundwater in Korea: Suggestions for Progress)

  • 국내 토양과 지하수 오염이 심각한 상황에 도달하였다는 것은 널리 알려진 사실이다. 선진국에서는 20 여년 전부터 그 심각성을 이해하고 환경복원 사업이라는 새로운 분야를 발전시켜 왔으나 많은 큰 문제들의 해결로 현재는 사업의 소강상태에 있다고 본다. 토양과 지하수는 우리가 깨끗이 보존하여야 할 자연 자원이다. 토양과 지하수 환경사업은 오염 예방, 조사, 복원 사업으로 나눌 수 있는데 본 발표에서는 조사와 복원에 관한 문제들을 고찰하고자 한다. 국내에서의 복원 사업은 시작인 단계에 있으며 국가 정책과 투자의지에 따라 그 전망은 결정될 것이다. 복원은 평가로부터 시작 오염 물질의 위해도와 경제성 등을 고려한 복원방법의 선정과 실행으로 끝나게 된다. 물론 물리탐사도 조사 단계에서 사용되는 도구이지만 그 필요성은 경제적일 뿐만 아니라 다른 방법에서는 얻을 수 없는 결과를 보여줄 수 있기 때문이다. 물리탐사와 마찬가지로 전 조사-복원과정에서 토양-지질-지하수의 이해가 정확한 해석과 판단을 위하여 선행되어야 한다. 강조되어야 할 것은, 조사-복원 사업은 연구와 개발(R&D)과는 달리 복원 목표를 달성할 수 있는 여러 방법 중 가장 경제적 (cost-effectiveness)인 방법을 선택하여 사업을 수행함으로써 고객을 만족시켜야 한다는 것이다.

실험계획법을 이용한 아크릴 점착제의 점착력 최적화 (Optimization of Peel Adhesion of Acrylic Pressure Sensitive Adhesive using Design of Experiments)

  • 아크릴 점착제의 점착력을 목표 수준으로 향상시키기 위해 실험계획법을 이용하여, 2-ethyl hexyl acrylate (2-EHA), ethyl acrylate (EA), metha acrylic acid (MAA), acryl amide (AAm)를 라디칼 용액 중합하여 점착력을 측정하였다. 실험계획법은 반응표면분석법의 하나인 혼합물 설계를 이용하여 특수 3차 모형으로 분석하였으며, 그 적용은 상용프로그램인 MINITAB을 사용하였다. 수립된 실험계획에 의해 실험하고 분석한 결과, 목표하는 점착력을 얻기 위한 단량체 조성은 2-EHA (0.8861), EA (0.0639), MAA (0.03), AAm (0.02)로 나타났으며, 그 회귀분석 식은 다음과 같았다. $$y=54.8816x_1+80.7067x_2-44.4700x_3-99.0288x_1x_2+60.7706x_1x_3-441.030x_2x_3+974.341x_1x_2x_3$$.

생강 클로로포름 분획의 활성화된 뇌신경교세포(腦神經膠細胞)에서 염증반응 억제효과 (Chloroform Fraction of Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens Modulates the Production of Inflammatory Mediators in LPS-stimulated BV2 Microglial Cells)

  • Objectives : The root of Zingiber officinale ROSC. (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens; Ginger) has been widely used as one of folk remedies and food materials in many traditional preparations. Ginger is known as an effective appetite enhancer and anti-inflammatory agent. This study was performed to investigate the effect of ginger chloroform fraction (GCF) in microglia which play a central role on brain inflammation in neurodegenerative diseases. Methods : Dried ginger was extracted with 80% methanol, and then fractionated with chloroform. BV2 mouse microglial cells were cultured with different concentrations of GCF and then stimulated with LPS (1 ${\mu}g/m{\ell}$) at indicated times. The cell toxicity of GCF was determined by MTT assay. The concentrations of NO, PGE2 and cytokines were measured by Griess assay and enzyme-linked immunosorbant assay. The mRNA and protein expressions of iNOS, COX-2 and cytokines were determined by RT-PCR and Western blotting. The phosphorylation of three MAPKs (p38 MAPK, ERK1/2 and JNK) and $NF-{\kappa}B$ activation were determined by Western blotting. Results : GCF significantly inhibited LPS-induced production of inflammatory mediators, NO, $PGE_2$ and proinflammatory cytokines ($TNF-{\alpha}$ and $IL-1{\beta}$) in a dose-dependent manner. GCF attenuated LPS-induced expression of mRNA and protein of inflammatory enzymes, iNOS, COX-2 and proinflammatory cytokines through suppressing the phosphorylation of ERK1/2 and p38 MAPK and the activation of p65 $NF-{\kappa}B$ in BV2 cells. Conclusions : This study suggests that GCF may have an anti-inflammatory property through suppressing the inflammatory mediator production released by activated microglia after the brain injury.

양방향 시차 몰핑을 이용한 중간 시점 영상 보간 (Intermediate Scene Interpolation using Bidirectional Disparity)

  • 본 논문은 한 쌍의 스테레오 영상으로부터 BDM(Bidirectional Disparity Morphing)을 이용하여 중간시점 영상을 보간하는 방법을 제안한다. 영상은 하나 이상의 계층으로 구성되어 있고 각각의 계층은 유사한 시차값을 갖기 때문에, 블록 단위의 시차 맵을 이용하는 것은 유용하다. 또한 블록 단위의 시차 맵은 시차계산을 위한 영상의 해상도를 줄여 계산량을 크게 감소시킨다. 그러나 서로 다른 계층이 겹쳐진 영역에서는 시차가 급격히 변화하여 정합 오차가 증가하고, 가려짐이 발생할 확률이 높다. 따라서 정합 결과에 따라 블록의 크기를 변화시켜 보다 정밀하게 대응 블록을 검색하여 잘못된 시차 계산을 막고, 아울러 가려진 영역을 검출할 수 있다. 가려진 영역의 시차는 가려짐 패턴을 이용하여 올바른 시차를 지정할 수 있어, 결과적으로 보다 정확한 중간 시점 영상을 생성할 수 있다.

Computer Simulation for Gradual Yellowing of Aged Lens and Its Application for Test Devices

  • This paper proposes a simulation algorithm to assess the gradual yellowing vision of the elderly, which refers to the predominance of yellowness in their vision due to aging of the ocular optic media. This algorithm employed the spectral transmittance property of a yellow filter to represent the color appearance perceived by elderly people with yellow vision, and modeled the changes in the color space through a spectrum change in light using the yellow filter effect. The spectral reflectivity data of 1269 Munsell matte color chips were used as reference data. Under the standard conditions of a D65 illuminant and a $10^{\circ}$ observer of 1964 CIE, the spectrum of the 1269 Munsell colors were processed through the yellow filter effect to simulate yellow vision. Various degrees of yellow vision were modeled according to the transmittance percentage of the yellow filter. The color differences before and after the yellow filter effect were calculated using the DE2000 formula, and the color pairs were selected based on the color difference function. These color pairs are distinguishable through normal vision, but the color difference diminishes as the degree of yellow vision increases. Assuming 80% of yellow vision effect, 17 color pairs out of $(1269{\times}1268)/2$ pairs were selected, and for the 90% of yellow vision effect, only 3 color pairs were selected. The result of this study can be utilized for the diagnosis system of gradual yellow vision, making various types of test charts with selected color pairs.

Germanium-based pinning dopants for MgB2 bulk superconductors

  • Effects of the spherically shaped Ge and the rod-like carbon-coated Ge on the superconducting properties of $MgB_2$ were investigated. Pure Ge and carbon-coated Ge nano-powders were synthesized under the different amount of $CH_4$ (0 to 5 kPa) by using DC thermal plasma method. When the $CH_4$ was added ~100 nm sized Ge with a spherical shape changed to rod-like morphology with a diameter of ~30-70 nm and a length of ~400-500 nm. Also it was confirmed that thin carbon layers of a few nanometers were formed along the rod length and the agglomerated carbons were found on the edges of rods. Pure spherical Ge and Ge/C rods were mixed and milled with Mg & B precursor to form the doped $MgB_2$ bulk samples by the solid-state reaction method. Almost no change of $T_c$ was noticed for the pure Ge-added $MgB_2$, whereas $T_c$ was found to decrease with the Ge/C-added $MgB_2$ samples. It was found that the pure spherical Ge showed to have a negative effect on the flux pinning of $MgB_2$. However, Ge/C rods can enhance the flux pinning property of $J_c$ due to the coated carbon on Ge rods.

여뀌과 이형경식물의 Dinorphism과 Bisexuality의 변화 (STUDIES ON THE DIMORPHISM AND TRANSITION OF BISEXUALITY OF HETEROSTYLOUS POLYGONACEAE)

  • The present experiments were designed in order to clarify the differences between the long and short styled plants and the transgressive gradition in the degree of dimorphism among the three heterostylous species of the Polygonus, P. japonica, F. esculentum, and P. senticosa, based on investigations regarding the floral structure, ecological and physiological traits, the results of which are summarized as follows: (1) P. japonica, although it exhibits typical dimorphism, has undergone so high a differentiation between long and short styled that its long styled individuals behave as if they were female; and short styled individuals as if male. In long-styled individuals, filament, anther, and pollen grains show signs of degeneration, most of the pollen being abortive. On the other hand, in short styled individuals, the filament, anther, and pollen grains have attained remarkable development; the pollen grians are large and fertile. In short-plant the fertilized flowers readily drop off in every stage of their embryo development. This species has completely lost the self-fertile property, which is characteristic of the non-dimorphic Polygonum genus. Although this specsei typically exhibits the physiological characteristics of the non-dimorphic Polygonum genus. Although this specisei typically exhibits the physiological characteristics of dimorphism in controlled pollination, the short-styled individuals bear no seed in nature, thus misleading taxonomists to idenfity the short-styled plant as male. 2) The morphological feature of the flower organ of P. senticosa obviously indicates definite dimorphism. Physiologically, however, no differentiation towards dimorphism was observed, the species still retaining, both in long and short-individuals, the self-fertile property common to the Polygonum genus. Elaborate examinations revealed that regardless of the modes of pollination, both fertiization and seed setting flourish, no differentiation betwen legitimate and illegitimate unions being recognizable. This sort of physiological property has not been observed in the investigations of other heterostylous plants. It is assumed that this species is differentiated structurally into dimorphism, but not yet physiologically. In nature, however, this plant would have more opportunities to be cross-pollinated, i.e., legitimately combined, than self-pollinated because of the development of two forms of flowers. 3) In terms of heterostylism, the F. esculentum just occupies the intermediate position between P. japonica and P. senticosa structurally, ecologically, and physiologically. Doescription of some of the physiological behavior of the plant will suffice to demonstrate the above facts. While P. japonica has completely lost its self-fertile property, P. senticosa still retains it wolly. In F. esculentum 2-6% of self-fertility is the result in illegitimate combination. There occur occasionally hereditary self fertile individuals among some of the F. or 20 min. irradiation plot, when they reach any stage of the same bacterial population. In addition to this increase of total population in the plots with the more dose of UV light irradiation, it seems that the more dose of UV light irradiation is the more shortened the generation time of Azotobacter. Therefore, it is clear that variation of reproductive rate must be, mere or less, due to the genetic effects induced by UV light irradiation. On the other hand, the lag phase or logarithmic growth phase in nonirradiated culture is shortened prominently, and this must be due to the difference in bacterial number of the original inoculm. The generation time of Azotobacter is shortened by exogeneous treatment of nuclei acid derivatives, and the degree is greater in case of DNA derivatives than RNA dervatives. W.H. Price reported that the rate of ribose nucleic acid to protein in Staphylococcus muscae is proportional to the generation time: that is the faster the cell can form ribose nucleic acid, the more rapid its growth. This explains the shortening of generation time by exogeneous RNA derivatives in this work reasonably. On the other hand, it is well known that the desoxyribose nuclic acid content per cell is constant and independent of the generation time. A.D. Laren and W.N. Takahashi reported that the infectious RNA from TMV is 6 times as sensitive to inactivation by UV as it is in the form of intact virus, and that inactivation of infectious TMV involves onlu a local change on RNA chain. But, the effect of exogeneous DNA in this work suggests that irradiated living cell which cotain DNA bring about some change on DNA moleculs as well as RNA molecules. And if the mutagenic effects of UV take into consideration, it is very reasonable. Therefore, it is clear that the variation of the generation time by UV irradiation is, more or less, due to the genetic effects. Therefore, it seems that the shortness of the average lifewpan of Azotobacter by UV irradiation is resulted not only from the influence of the environmental conditions, but also from the variation of genetic factor of the individual.

리튬이차전지용 분리막의 두께에 따른 특성 연구 (Study on the Thickness Effect of the Separator for Lithium Secondary Batteries)

  • 리튬이차전지의 고에너지 밀도화를 위해 전지 구성요소들의 무게 및 부피를 저감하려는 요구가 증가하고 있다. 분리막은 리튬이온의 이동통로를 제공할 뿐만 아니라 양극과 음극의 직접적인 접촉을 방지하는 핵심 부품이다. 본 연구에서는 연신 비율을 달리하여 습식방법을 통해 두께가 16, 12, $9{\mu}m$ 인 폴리에틸렌 분리막을 준비하였고, 각각의 기계적 강도 및 열적특성을 평가하였다. 또한 양극($LiCoO_2$), 음극(Graphite)을 사용한 Coin type full-cell을 제작하여 율속 특성 및 500cycle까지 사이클 수명특성을 평가하였다. 수명특성 평가를 통해 사용된 모든 두께의 분리막에서 500cycle 까지 큰 차이 없이 80% 정도의 용량유지 결과를 확인하였다. 율속 특성에서는 가장 얇은 $9{\mu}m$ 분리막이 가장 우수한 성능을 나타내었다. 흥미롭게도 $9{\mu}m$의 분리막이 $16{\mu}m$ 경우보다 열 수축률 평가에서 우수한 특성을 나타내었다.

RF 열플라즈마를 이용한 Y2O3:Eu3+ 적색 나노 형광체 분말 합성 (Synthesis and characterization of Y2O3 : Eu3+ red nano phosphor powders using RF thermal plasma)

  • $Y_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$는 우수한 적색 발광 특성을 가지고 있는 형광체로 최근 고화질 디스플레이에 대한 수요가 증가함에 따라 관련 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 RF 열플라즈마 합성법과 고상법을 이용하여 $Y_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$ 적색 형광체를 합성하였으며, 합성 방법에 따른 $Y_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$ 적색 형광체의 결정 구조, 미세 구조, 발광 특성의 차이를 XRD, TEM, PL 분석을 통해 비교하였다. 고상법으로 합성된 $Y_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$ 적색 형광체의 입자는 약 $10{\sim}20{\mu}m$ 크기를 가지는 반면, RF 열플라즈마 합성법을 통해 합성된 적색 형광체는 반응부는 약 100 nm, 필터부는 약 30 nm의 크기를 갖는 나노 형광체로 확인되었다. 합성된 모든 분말들은 PL 측정결과 611 nm($^5D_0{\rightarrow}^7F_2$)에서 발광하는 것을 확인하였으며, 결정 크기와 입도가 증가할수록 PL intensity가 증가하였다. 또한, 추가 열처리 공정이 필요 없는 one-step 공정의 RF 열플라즈마 공정을 통해 합성된 $Y_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$ 적색 나노 형광체는 고상법으로 합성된 적색 형광체와 비슷한 발광 특성을 보이는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.
