Durability problems initiated from steel corrosion are unseen but critical issues, so that many researches are focused on chloride penetration evaluation. Even if RC (Reinforced Concrete) structures are exposed to normal environment, chloride ingress varies with concrete surface conditions and exposed period. This paper presents an analysis technique for chloride behavior evaluation considering time effect on diffusion and surface conditions assumed as double-layered system. For evaluation of deteriorated surface condition, field investigation was performed for concrete pavement exposed to deicing agent for 18 years. In order to consider enhanced surface concrete, chloride profiles in surface-impregnated concretes exposed to chloride attack for 2 years from previous research were investigated. Through reverse analysis, effectively deteriorated/enhanced depth of surface and the related reduced/enlarged diffusion coefficient in the depth are simulated. The proposed analysis technique was evaluated to handle the chloride behavior more accurately considering changes of chloride ingress within surface layer and decreased diffusion coefficient with time. For the concrete surface exposed to deicing agent, the deteriorated depth and enlarged diffusion coefficient are evaluated to be 12.5~15.0 mm and 200% increasing diffusion coefficient, respectively. The results in concrete containing enhanced cover show 10.0~12.5 mm of impregnated depth and 85% reduction of chloride diffusion in tidal and submerged conditions.

According to the disaster statistics issued by the Ministry of Public Safety and Security, traffic accidents, fire, collapses and others are classified into twenty-three (23) categories. In the past, disasters were mainly caused by the influence of nature, such as typhoon or drought. On the other hand, as society has become city-centered, social disasters' types, frequencies and scales are becoming more diversified and ever-increasing. However, there are no specific criteria and assessment methods that can measure degrees of social disasters-related risks objectively. Therefore, this study targeted traffic accidents, fire and collapses from major social disasters, utilized data that are related to occurrence rate, scale of casualties and scale of property loss in past eight years, and calculated the disaster risk index using the distance (Euclidean distance) between two points on the 3D spatial coordinates, in order to make the objective assessment by social disaster type possible. These results will enable the objective evaluation of risk index of major social disaster to be used as the foundational data when building the national disaster management system.

Building Information Modeling, and its associated work practices, requires project participants to share not only 3D geometric data, but also information in the model that may be considered proprietary and even trade secrets. Thus protection of intellectual property, or BIM copyrights, must be in place for participants to share proprietary information among project stakeholders. Currently Korea does not have adequate copyright laws or mechanisms to provide such protection. This research examined three BIM copyright legal documents, namely U.S.' ConsensusDOCS 301, AIA Document E203/G202, and U.K.'s CIC BIM Protocol to determine how copyright protection is realized, and to formulate appropriate stipulations within the Korean construction context. The resultant requirements include stipulating ownership at to the BIM originator, adopting a license-sublicense scheme, employing a federated model, and use of a formal model delivey table to allocate responsibilities. Given Korea's adoption stage, liability should be minimal, and license revocation should be allowed if payments are not met. The three BIM legal documents focus on practical measures that allow participants to customize requirements for individual projects, and such conventions should be emulated in Korea.

The objective of this study was to investigate the antioxidant activity of Korean yam (Dioscorea batatas $D_{ECNE.}$) by different extraction solvents including 70% methanol, 70% ethanol and chloroform-methanol mixture (CM, 2:1, v/v). Raw yam was analyzed for its color property, total phenol content and antioxidant activity. Yam possessed high $L^*$ value and $H^{\circ}$ value, which were $81.64{\pm}2.59$ and $83.36{\pm}0.15$, respectively. Raw yam was found to have great antioxidant activity evaluated through ABTS [2,2′-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) diammonium salt] radical scavenging activity, DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) radical scavenging activity, reducing power, and ferric reducing antioxidant power. Total phenol contents of various extracts from raw yam increased in the following order: 70% methanol extract ($37.62{\pm}0.88mg\;CAE/g$), 70% ethanol extract ($43.38{\pm}0.66mg\;CAE/g$) and CM extract ($67.17{\pm}0.12mg\;CAE/g$), respectively. The same trend was also could be found in the ABTS radical scavenging activity, DPPH radical scavenging activity and ferric reducing antioxidant power assays. These results implied that Korean yam might play an important role in antioxidation and serve as the bio-health functional food to take a good part in prevention of human diseases and aging.
This paper is concerned with the compression test such as compression and ring compression tests, by using virtual reality. Engineering material laboratory can be carried out on personal computer without the real expensive experiment devices. The virtual laboratory is composed of three modules as input, calculation and output module on internet. Internet user can give the material's property and other parameters to the server computer at the input module. On the calculation module, simulator cimputes the results by analysis program and store the data as a file. The output module is the program that internet user can confirm a virtual compression results by showing a table, graph, and 3D animation. This program is designed by Internet language such as HTML, CGI, VRML, JAVA. And analysis program uses the finite element method with fortran language. Since the study of virtual reality on internet is rapidly increasing, the virtual experiment of technique will substitute many real experiments in the future.
In this work, we prepared the carbon paper from chopped carbon fibers using a gas diffusion matrix in polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells by wet processing. The process of making carbon paper using wet processing is consisted of the three steps involving the dispersion of chopped carbon fibers, the preparation of the carbon fiber web, the impregnating of phenol resin. This work was focused on finding the optimal surfactant to make the carbon paper with 2D orientation of carbon fibers by investigating the dispersion state of carbon fibers in different dispersion solutions. Furthermore, the effect of phenol resin and carbon black contents on properties of electric conductivity was analyzed. As a result, it is confirmed that the carbon fiber was well dispersed when using sodium dodecyl sulfate as a surfactant, and the carbon paper with 8 wt% of phenol and 5 wt% of carbon black contents showed the most excellent electrical property.
Chitosan is a polysaccharide with cationic amino groups in its structure and has useful properties as functional materials. Various end-use developments of chitosan are in progress. When the cotton fabric is pretreated with chitosan, the hand property of cotton fabric may be improved expecially for the summer apparel. In this study, as a cross-linking agent to introduce chitosan into cotton, BTCA(butane-1,2,3,4-tetracarboxylic acid) or CA(citric acid) was added in order to prevent detachment of chitosan by the cross-linking. During the cross-linking procedure, via the padding-drying-heat setting, amino groups of chitosan and hydroxyl groups of cotton, carboxyl groups of BTCA/CA are cross-linked by forming anhydrous cyclic rings. Since BTCA has four carboxyl groups, cross-linking by thermal treatment is easy, leading to the trials in wrinkle-recovery treatment of cotton fabrics. However, the high price of the BTCA reagent has been a shortcoming in the actual application for industrial use. Therefore, in this study, we tried the application of CA having three carboxyl groups, which is relatively low priced, as the substituting cross-linking agent. The hand of the treated fabrics were evaluated by measuring physical properties. In addition, based on the physical properties, three-dimensional images were introduced by using 3D CAD systems and results were compared.

Most metals are polycrystalline material whose deformation is dominated by the slip system. During the deformation process, orientation of slip systems is rearranged with preferred orientations, leading to deformation-induced crystallographic texture which is called deformation texture. Depending on the texture development, the property of material can be changed. The rate-independent crystal plasticity which is based on the Schmid law as a yield function causes a non-uniqueness in the choice of active slip systems. In this work, to avoid the slip system ambiguity problem, rate-independent crystal plasticity model based on the smooth yield surface with rounded-off corners is adopted. In order to simulate the polycrystalline material under plastic deformation, we employ the Taylor model of polycrystal behavior that all the grains are assumed to be subjected to the macroscopic velocity gradient. Rigid-plastic finite element program based on this rate-independent crystal plasticity is developed to predict the grain-level deformation behavior of FCC metals during metal forming processes. In the finite element calculation, one integration point is considered as a crystalline aggregate which has a number of crystals. Macroscopic behavior of material can be deduced from the behavior of aggregates. As applications, the extrusion processes are simulated and the changes of mechanical properties are predicted.
Poly(triazine bissulfide)s were synthesized from 6-dibutylamino-1,3,5-triazine-2,4-dithiol with bis(4-chloro-3-nitrophenyl)sulfone in the presence of the phase transfer catalyst, and from m-dibromide xylene and p-dibromide xylene with 6-dibutylamino-1,3,5-triazine-2,4-dithiol in the presence of cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide at $70^{\circ}C$ for 24h. We could acquire the good results about solubility, thermal property, and molecular weight to make cast film. These results are important as base for the synthesis of functionalization polymer material being optical plastic material. The maximum algebra viscosity was 0.57~1.40dl/g at the temperature more than $50{\sim}60^{\circ}C$.
To develop a unconventional gas reservoir, an analysis of tight rock property are required. Especially, conventional measurements are difficult to be applied to unconventional resources such as tight gas reservoir because the permeability are extremely low compared to a conventional gas reservoir. In this study, an apparatus was developed for measuring low permeability and porosity based on a pressure pulse decay method under unsteady state conditions. The apparatus was applied for measuring the porosity and permeability of tight sand core samples from Gyeongsang basin in Korea. As a validation of the measurement, regression analysis was carried out using the dimensionless pseudo-pressure between the measured data and analytical solution. The results show the correlation coefficients above 0.96. Therefore, it is believed that the apparatus has a high accuracy.
